kittylester, thank you. I wondered if I would be offered an MRI as I had unfortunately been googling everything so got myself all 'het-up'. I had also thought of getting some sort of 'sleep music' to help. I do still hear whatever it is my head when my hearing aids are in. I shall just have to be patient and see what my forthcoming hearing test shows. Thanks.

DH developed tinnitus after he started wearing hearing aids. He had an MRI to rule out other problems - it was clear.

The tinnitus doesn't bother him when he is wearing his aids and he has an Alexa by the bed that plays 'Sleep Sounds' all night.

Katyj, thank you for your input. No, this noise I have in my head now is new, fairly rcently but tbh couldn't put a date on when I noticed it but def recent. My hearing is def worse but no idea if it's my hearing or the hearing aids not doing their job properly. I am awaiting a full hearing test but not for 3 weeks yet. I am very anxious about everything but I know I just have to be patient until I get results.

Icandoit. Hi. I have the same NHS hearing aids as you, I’ve had mine 4 months. Did you have tinnitus before you got the aids or is it something new ?
I had tinnitus before I got mine, which varied day to day between a whooshing and high and low ringing, now with the aids in its s low buzzing that I don’t notice unless it’s very quiet without them in it’s the same noise but louder.
I’m waiting to see ENT but it’s a long wait.
This probably hasn’t been much help. hope you feel better soon, please come back and let us know.

Unforutnately its def not wax, got them looked at properly the other day by my GP. Not sure if it's tinnitus either as it is normally a high pitched sound, my isn't more like holding a seashell up to you ear.

Sounds like tinnitus to me. Can be really debilitating for some people and drive you nuts in the meantime!! You may find that a masking aid may help but it could also be something as simple as wax in the ear.

I wholly apologise for bringing this topic up once again but once again I'm having severe problems with my aids. I'm not sure if it's the aids (wear two) or indeed aids not working properly as I've discovered before. However still waiting for an appointment due in 3 weeks with an NHS audiologist and it's getting me down, it also seems to be worsening each day too. I have also made an appointment with a well known chemist to have a free hearing test with the view of buying better aids (if possible) to the ones I already have from NHS (Phonak with blue-tooth). I have for a couple of months seem to have a 'whishing' noise throughout my head constantly and it never vanishes not even when I take my aids out at bedtime, this worries me. Not sure if it is indeed an audiology problem or a medical one. I am currently waiting for a private check up with a medical doctor. I just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem.
