Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather grey South Yorkshire. We are promised rain later. Having got rid of the worst of my cold it has gone down onto my chest. Hurrah😤. We had a lovely family dinner yesterday and GS stayed over so that he could help me with a couple of things today. He’s very good company. I will drive him home later. I shall have to get in touch with the heating engineer again today. Having sorted the boiler out, the radiator in my bedroom has now gone on strike! One day, it will all be working properly.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Thinking of you and your DH today, FriedGreenTomatoes2. 🥰

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 28-Oct-24 07:23:23

Good morning everyone from a wet south Manchester. Himself is back at The Christie today from noon. Bloods, an appointment with Professor Mansoor then three hours later a CTscan, result mid November. It’s 3 months since we were last there and have enjoyed a wonderful summer.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it looks cloudy and feels mild
So sorry to hear about your sad day yesterday Susan56
I’ve some food shopping to do today and the usual housework, bedding changes too. DH had to see the out of hours GP yesterday and has been prescribed antibiotics for cellulitis on his lower leg. No idea how he got that but hopefully he’ll be on the mend soon. DD2 has some house viewings this week after her sale all fell through so I’m keeping fingers crossed but realistically not holding out much hope just now
Hoping your appointments go well today Redcar and your DHs too fgt
They’re all back to school here today georgesgran after 2 weeks holidays - hoping your DD1 and family have a great time!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

grandMattie Mon 28-Oct-24 07:18:20

That’s brilliant, Ash. 👏👏👏

Children having fun playing in the new water feature!

Redcar Mon 28-Oct-24 07:13:02

Good morning everyone. It’s grey and damp here in Essex, a cloudy day forecast.
susan how disappointing that your family get together didn’t work out as hoped. I hope your mum is better soon.
fgt I hope your DHs scan goes well.
I pottered around yesterday, it was a lovely sunny day here so I had my usual walk in the morning. No one walking dogs though, maybe they’d all slept in?
I have two hospital appointments today, a pre op session with a physiotherapist to be told what to expect from my forthcoming operation, then an appointment with the consultant early evening.
In between, there’s still housework to be done.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy grey Northampton; showers forecast over lunchtime.
Yesterday was glorious and as I got into town early for my cinema visit, spent a pleasant time watching the children playing in the new water feature in our market square.

Did not enjoy the film at all, and indeed had I realised that it was about a terminally ill woman's desire to end her life, I would not have gone.to see it. None of the synopses I read gave this impression at all. It was good to get out into the sunshine afterwards, and to cheer myself up had a good browse around the shops, had a coffee, and ended up buying some Christmas cards!

Yoga first thing this morning followed by coffee, and then I need to pick up a reserved book at the library. Then shall eventually get round to hoovering upstairs, after putting it off last week.
A variation on the famous SOAP dish.for dinner tonight - shall make enough for two meals.

Have a pleasant Monday everyone.

Good morning all from a very dark but dry day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ll be going shopping for 2 rush outdoor mats today so that my carers can wipe their feet before entering the front or back door, they make such a mess of my hall carpet. I’m also going to the cemetery to put flowers on my parents grave I’ve not been their in ages it’ll probably need tidied up too.

Have a good day my friends, stay safe there’s lots of bugs out there

Georgesgran Mon 28-Oct-24 07:07:41

Good morning from a dry Durham. I must get back to normal, following my recent cold and residual cough, so it’s coffee with a friend this morning, then I’m sure I’ll find something to do later.
Half term here, so DD1 and family are off to Turkey. DGS1 is very excited, the same resort as last year.
Keeping fingers crossed for FGT and himself.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a cloudy Torbay following a sunny weekend, for which I was mainly indoors at the theatre.

All three shows went well with good houses in each which should have raised over £11k towards resurfacing the car park. Because of issues with drainage and the listed status of our theatre, (Grade Two**) we have to comply with the stringent rules of English Heritage. Performers offered dance, songs from the shows, opera, poetry, sketches, Shakespeare and a very funny scene from The 39 Steps. A good time was had by all, apart from my grumpy joints!

Hope today is the start of a good week, especially for those like Susan56 going through difficult times. . 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from s somerset, a dull damp day all today

I finished my musselburgh hat for dd,so many stitches but what a lovely warm hat. I will steam-block the wool today and take it to wales this week. Did some odds and ends tidying to my knitting accessories upstairs and released another really useful box, which will go into the garage. Nice to see spaces, even if small, appear

I am also knitting socks roseandlilac, they are always very welcome as gifts. I started one the other day, top down. I do mine with a 9" (shorties tips) circular needle using dpns for heel turning and toe-shaping. I also have mouche bear on the go and also a gansey-type jumper but top down and I will start another musselburgh later on, just to get the difficult start out of the way. I like a variety of UFOs

Yesterday felt like a very long day but I stayed awake until after the new 10pm by watching the larkins, lovely gentle tv. Woke at 6 so am happy. I too made soup, for 3 days. I had a caulie, a leek and ground almonds

Today is a this- n -that day, no idea what really, apart from the usual en suite etc. More knitting for me, I have the mojo but might get into a bit of sewing too, I do want to continue that overdress. Anyway it helps to be engrossed, to ignore the dull-weather today

Have a good day

Good morning all from the Black country dark but dry at the moment.
Today I shall be looking for some new walking boots, DH has also decided he may have some.
FGT2 hope all goes well with hospital appointment for himself.
Thoughts with missing posters and virtual hugs where needed.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Still dark but not cold. I made a cup of tea but spat it out. The milk was off. I'm now trying to like black tea 🍵 😩

I had lunch at DS1 DDiL and their DC in Edinburgh yesterday. They are in the throes of applying to uni or choosing subjects.

Their little dog was home and back to normal after a very expensive overnight stay at the vet. He had been sick having drunk from a dirty puddle. He's treated like a child king in that family.

Last night after watching Nosferatu the Vampire at our community cinema I walked home through very atmospheric mist, past the old graveyard......

Today there's a U3A visit to a NT property. It's also my Helper's last day. I will miss him.

Well done with knitting socks Roses. I once made a pair on 4 pins but found it hard nearly impossible

Hope everyone has some joy today.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 28-Oct-24 06:47:36

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Susan56, I’m so sorry to hear about your disappointing day.

OH and I paid a final visit to our favourite Sunday lunch pub yesterday. The owners have sold it so the current landlord and landlady have found somewhere else, which they’ll move to in a couple of weeks. Lunch was delicious and the place was packed.

Our cleaner is away so will come tomorrow and our gardener will call in this afternoon. I’m not sure what she’ll do apart from general clearing up. OH will prune the 30-year rose on the back wall of the house in a couple of weeks.

I will do the usual Waitrose shop and a bit of admin. My printer is playing up but I have lots of labels to print off for WI.

Have a good day everyone.

grandMattie

Hi, Randl. Do you knit your socks on 4 or 5 needles, or with circular ones?

I do magic loop with (usually) 60cm circulars- I think I managed to impress 11 year old dgs1 yesterday by knitting without looking at my needles while we discussed his cycling feats 😄!

aggie Mon 28-Oct-24 06:36:13

Good morning from a warm, pleasant Malta.

I have been called in to look after littlest as he’s got a fever again. Poor little chap has had one thing after another lately. His brother has gone to nursery quite happily.

Wishing you all a good day. ☀️

grandMattie Mon 28-Oct-24 06:00:45

Hi, Randl. Do you knit your socks on 4 or 5 needles, or with circular ones?

RosesandLilac Mon 28-Oct-24 05:50:17

Good morning grandMattie 🤗

RosesandLilac Mon 28-Oct-24 05:49:38

Good morning Mick, it’s dark and dry here in south Glos where I’m enjoying an early morning coffee in bed.
A lovely leisurely day with DS and family yesterday, so good to see them.
DGS1 has requested a pair of socks so he’s chosen the yarn from my stash and I have made a start on them. DGS2 didn’t want to be left out so I will make him a pair too 😊
Hope today goes well for you all 🌹

grandMattie Mon 28-Oct-24 05:47:39

Good morning from another dry, mild morning in Bristol.
Little to report. Church yesterday (with two of my most loathed hymns 🙁), then home.
I made a lovely, mostly root, soups for lunch. I now have enough for the week…
Cleaned the floors, did some sewing, some knitting…
Tesco this morning.
Ash,I hope your knees have stopped grumping. Everyone else, may your day be, if not contented, tolerable.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
