He was the best ever! Nobody since can compare. Handsome, smart, intelligent and super funny.

He was part of the reason I quit smoking. I remembered him saying he was not prepared to pay to kill himself by smoking so he quit. I did the same.

I loved him too! Many years ago, went to the Haymarket with my late husband to see his live show, he was brilliant!

There was something gentle about his humour - never cruel.

Handsome and witty - I often wondered how he lost one tiger - I could read it up online, I suppose.

My husband worked with him on Dave Allen's one man show at the Haymarket. Behind the stage every evening they had a sweepstake for what time the show would finish. Dave Allen knew this and used to come off stage asking who'd won each night. It could vary 10 - 15 minutes depending on his audience!
We had a lovely engagement gift from him.
So funny in real life.

Correction - ‘I told you I was ill.’

And Spike Milligan too. So funny!

He was daft as a brush but hilarious.
Am not sure if is t true but is said the epitaph on his gravestone is ‘I told you I was I’ll.’

Dave Allen was a favourite of ours, we remember him as a dishy young man on a bar stool with his glass of whiskey but he was equally good as he got older. Loved his monologues and his irreverent sketches about Catholicism.
Can’t think of anyone like that today.

I loved his skits on the Church! I used to watch him with my dad. Good memories.

Anyone remember Dave Allen? I have just been watching some of his skits on British Comedy Greats on Facebook - he was so very good.
