I’m not so keen on the Lloyd Webber musicals, and I don’t like anything too deep when I’m out for the night, although I did enjoy Phantom of the Opera.

I prefer the older musicals-I don't know why .
I think that they had more style or maybe I'm just nostalgic .

I have never seen a professional musical, only local amateur productions. However, I do love them! In December the local students are doing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. I'll be sure to get tickets.
Last year they did Something Rotten, and they did a great job.

I love all musicals and have been lucky enough to see a lot. My top five are Les Mis, We Will Rock You, Cabaret, Carousel , Joseph and his amazing technicour dreamcoat. There are some recent ones which I haven't seen but would love to.

The "new" musicals are pretty tuneless with not much story, IMO. You can't beat the oldies, my favourites are South Pacific, West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and Blood Brothers.

I've also been fortunate enough to see Adrian Dunbar in Kiss Me Kate - he was brilliant - Glenn Close in Sunset Boulevard (sensational) and a few years ago DH and Michael Ball in a rarely-performed production of Mack and Mabel (some of the music was used by Torvill and Dean in one of their gold-medal-winning routines). It was one of the best things I've ever seen, MB was fantastic as Mack Sennett and when he sang "I won't send Roses" there wasn't a dry eye in the house!

Hellogirl I am with you all the way, Seven Brides for Seven brothers* is unbeatable.

Going back a long way. I loved 'Salad Days', West Side Story, les Miserables.

I completely forgot Rocky Horror Show, Billy Elliot and also saw a very good Oliver with Omid Djalli as Fagin.

Hair was so great, of its time love and peace and all that. I love the way Ringo still says that even when he's a bit angry. Remember seeing him telling fans to stop writing it went like this "Because I really don't have time to answer Love and Peace"

The best 'Musical' in 1970 - was quite different, lol. Isle of Wight the reason I came to work in London so I could go.

We also saw Hair in London the 70s.

So many, but Come From Away is amazing if you get the chance to see it touring, really emotional.

Jersey Boys, Sister Act, West Side Story, The King and I, 42nd Street (really didn't fancy that one the tickets were a gift, but it was good, great costumes), Lion King, Showboat, Miss Saigon and many others
For an amazing set Notre Dame de Paris in 2001 starring Danni Minogue as Esmeralda. Like The Lion King you needed your eyes everywhere to see all the action.
I really wanted to see Beautiful, but never managed to book tickets.

My DD and I have been many times to see this wonderful musical usually at The Lowry, in Salford. I think we are word perfect by now,, but do manage not to sing along until the encore, when everyone is on their feet!

I love musicals and my favourites in no particular order are Miss Saigon,Les Mis,Chicago,Wicked and Jersey Boys.

Although it’s a bit dated now I love the songs
from South Pacific great to sing along to 🎼 I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair etc love it

The Mary Poppins Musical is unbelievably good.

Like Grumpa I have good memories of Fings but my absolute favourite, on stage and on screen, is West Side Story. Beautiful sad and romantic story and every single number a show stopper especially “Take of my hand one hand” which reduces hard hearted me to tears.

I was newly arrived in London, from a rural area- and I was invited by my boss. I will always remember it, my first.

We saw Hair in 1970 too, Fleurpepper. Someone gave us tickets to see the show while we are on honeymoon in London. It was quite daring in those days but not one of my most memorable musicals. Though I did quite fancy Paul Nicholas.

You’ve just reminded me I saw the gorgeous David Essex in Godspell.

Hellogirl, our daughters watched 7 Brides on repeat and,much later, we took DD3 (aged about 14) to see Howard Keele live. After his brilliant performance, he sat at a table and signed programmes.

When DD3 got to the table he was so lovely to her and asked her to write to him. She did and got a lovely letter back.

He was a real gentleman.

I love musicals but not so much some of the more recent ones. The plots seem overly complicated and they’re so LOUD.
