Just been to see the Tina Turner musical. It was very good, dancing in the aisles, cheers, claps and the person playing Tina had a great voice, too. Plus the nut bush dance ( I think only in Australia ?) in the aisles, too. Best musical I have seen in years. Any other good ones?

We saw Hair in 1970 too, Fleurpepper. Someone gave us tickets to see the show while we are on honeymoon in London. It was quite daring in those days but not one of my most memorable musicals. Though I did quite fancy Paul Nicholas.

Fiddler On The Roof and Camelot

Would have loved to see Michael Ball in Hairspray, that is a musical I really love but haven’t seen in the west end. There was a limited run a year or so ago with Michael Ball but ticket prices were astronomical. 😳

My favourite ever, HAIR 1970.

Jersey Boys in London as a treat with my DD was excellent but sadly ruined by a woman who sang badly and loudly through the whole thing.People were shushing her and glaring.I've often regretted not asking a steward to have a word in the interval.
Les Miserables and Blood Brothers stand out in my memory. And also Hairspray with Michael Ball.Went not expecting it to be my thing but it was hilarious and heartwarming.

Fings Ain't Wot They Used To Be; Theatre Royal E15. I was given the LP.

My all time favourite musical is The Rocky Horror Show.

The Picture show is good but seeing it live is even better especially if you dress up. I bet it was great on Broadway.

Not generally a Musicals person, but I’ve seen both The Lion King and Wicked on Broadway. The US audiences are insane, which only adds to the atmosphere.

The most recent that I`ve seen have been Phantom of the Opera, Mama Mia, and Les Miserables, loved them all. In the past I`ve adored all the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical films, but my all time favourite musical film will always be Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, starring the absolutely gorgeous and fantastic Howard Keel, I`ve seen it loads of times, never get tired of it.

I love the Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia but my favourite by far is Blood Brothers. I have seen it many times and I laughed and I cried every time. My late husband and I had many a happy time visiting the theatre in Blackpool.

Love musicals. Recently we went to see Six - it was fab.

Best ever though is West Side Story.

Nonnato2 Thu 31-Oct-24 14:19:38

Seen quite a lot but I love Starlight Express. Oh and Phantom!

TerriBull Thu 31-Oct-24 14:19:07

Saturday Night Fever, saw it on stage as well as the film.
Jersey Boys
Grease again on stage
I saw a great musical about Elvis on stage years ago, Shakin' Stevens played him, can't remember what it was called maybe Elvis?
Hair just captured the time, some great songs.
Evita
Jesus Christ Superstar
Phantom
I was taken to see West Side Story when I was very young, probably too young to appreciate it.
I did like Sound of Music when I saw that on stage, but I was about 10 or 11 I think.
I love Abba but didn't really like Mama Mia

We really love musicals and have seen quite a few! My absolute favourite is Wicked, closely followed by Les Mis, Everybody's talking about Jamie, Jersey Boys and Beautiful ( The Carol King Story ).
For my birthday recently we went to stay with my DS and DIL in London, and we all went to the new production of Starlight Express. We were blown away by the whole production - simply amazing!

ps - lots of shows now have notices asking the audience not to join in the singing until the final encore!

Jersey Boys was fabulous even DH who didn’t love musicals thought it was wonderful.

Kate1949 Thu 31-Oct-24 13:40:39

Jersey Boys, Buddy are both dancing in the aisles shows. Brilliant.

Dee1012 Thu 31-Oct-24 13:37:06

Normally classed as a Rock Opera but I love Jesus Christ Superstar!

LisaAN Thu 31-Oct-24 13:35:19

Really liked Hamilton and absolutely loved Phantom of the Opera.

GrannyIvy Thu 31-Oct-24 13:27:41

Recently seen Grease again, and Sister Act. Both were good. I really enjoyed Michael Ball in Hairspray a few years ago now. Just a shame tickets are so expensive now for all professional musicals

Franbern Thu 31-Oct-24 13:04:02

Les Mis........first time I saw it, I just sat there at the end, wanting to watch it all over again.

Blood Brothers - only saw it recently and loved it.

As a teenager (many decades ago), I saw the film of the Student Prince and loved it

Carousel is another film favourite.

Puzzlelove Thu 31-Oct-24 12:57:09

I loved Mamma Mia and Cilla. I went to see Mamma Mia twice and I wish Cilla was still on. Wasn’t over keen on Kinky Boots. Just wish I could go to the theatre more often.

Babs03 Thu 31-Oct-24 12:56:54

I loved Les Miserables, but is a hard question, really enjoyed The Jersey boys too.
