For Christmas last year I was given a voucher for 'the Orient Express Experience' afternoon tea. It's in an old building in town. I didn't expect much but was surprised to find how hard it was to book in. Obviously very popular.
I can see why! It was gorgeous. The attention to detail was amazing. The owners must have bought up old carriages as it was all so authentic. DD and I had a table for two and enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea with great baking as we hurtled along north Italy then Switzerland from Venice. This was projected on to the windows. The seats even vibrated to give the effect of being on a train.
Just lovely. Not extortionately priced compared to the big hotels.
That's all really. It's just that it's nice to have a lovely time unexpectedly while we seem to be so filled with doom and gloom.
