Kamala won the US Election, we have KEMI as new leader of the Conservatives and we have Rachel as our Chancellor…whatever your politics- these women have to sort out the chaos that has gone on and IMO , we should feel 😊
P.S. am not a man hater but they should know their place😂

I think a lot of people are getting unnecessarily doom laden over the Trump victory.

We have survived one Trump 4 year term, and at the end of it, messy though it was, the world was still turning on its axis, people were being born, marrying and dying, the US stayed in NATO, The Syrians went to war, Russia invaded Ukraine, Israel invaded Gaza ( after extreme provocation. I see no reason why we will not survive another 4 years.

On the plus side, imagine 1) what life would have been like if he had served 2 consecutive terms and been in power for eight years. 2) he cannot stand again, he will be too old and even more gaga than Biden.

On the minus side start praying that he does at least see his term out, because if he dies or is declare mentally incapacitated. Vance will become President, now there is a thought to frighten the crowds.

I don't think that gender or colour should have any consideration when picking someone for a job, whether it is the job of president, politician or any kind of work. The best person for the job should be chosen.

Trump wouldn't have won without having the richest backer in Elon Musk. That's how American politics works.

Bea65 Wed 06-Nov-24 16:13:17

Yes utterly disturbing…Cali family still trying to process the nos of Trump voters who he had insulted earlier in campaign saying they are ‘eating pets..’ maybe Elon Musk bought voters off😡

It's unutterably awful Keepingquiet.. both for the climate and any hope of resolving the ongoing wars in Ukraine and Palestine.. I fear for our children's futures...

keepingquiet Wed 06-Nov-24 11:43:56

A day? How about four years, how about rigging the system so no one can vote anymore and he's in power forever?

pascal30 Wed 06-Nov-24 08:45:08

I don't see a peaceful future ahead now.. we should declare a day of mourning..

keepingquiet Wed 06-Nov-24 08:01:52

Yes, he seems set to do so. The lunatics are back in the asylum folks. Seems the US was not prepared to vote for a sane female president. Nothing we can do.

I very much hope that Kamala wins today but I fear it will not be the case...

Do you think the Orange One with his vile rhetoric will win?

Desdemona Tue 05-Nov-24 18:59:56

I applaud people that are elected that want to do some good. I care not one jot what gender they happen to be.

Isn’t it just great that there is the possibility of women in more leading roles? I remember a picture of the EU leaders with just Angela Merkel as the sole female.
The visible opening up of opportunities is to be celebrated surely?

Yes lixy it should be celebrated as you stated .. think there are some ‘ mean girls’ on here 😳

Boy's club or Girl's club both should be avoided.

Women at the helm of anything go about the business in a différent manner to men.
There has been too much 'boys club' ruling
This world for too long, look at the state we are in.

I do not think that is true, Golda Meir, Mrs Bandanaika, Mrs Thatcher, Angela Merkel, Mrs Ghandi and so many others and, nearly, Hilary clinton.

I doubt life would be any better with more women in power

If Trump wins then the future of Ukraine is on a knife edge and once Russia has won they will move onto other countries and they have a hatred of the U.K. because of our support for Ukraine. I am truly worried.

I want Kamal even though she doesn’t support women’s rights to fair play in sport and beyond.

I'm hoping that Kamala Harris will win in America but I am also dreading the result if Trump does not get elected. Look at the riots which happened last time

Reeves is one of those causing the ruddy chaos, and Harris has one nothing yet.

henetha Mon 04-Nov-24 18:37:18

Absolutely, Jackiest. Trump is frightening. Anyone would be better than him. Also, it's time that America had a female President. So I hope she gets her chance.

I'm fervently hoping that Kamala will win, for every reason.

I don't much about Kamala but I know that it is very very unlikely that anyone could be worse than Trump. So I hope she wins.

Like Jackiest I am more intersted in their policies than their gender I am even more intersted in their competence.

The time has gone when every time a woman gets a specific job for the first time we think it is wonderful. That time ended when female incompetents started getting into top jobs, like Liz Truss - and others.

In any post I want o know the person holding it is the most competent and suitable, regardless of age, sex, gender, racial origins, and all the other wonderful variables in human kind.

👏👏👏👏

I don't care if any leader or anyone in a position of power is male or female, black or white. It's their ability that is important. I agree that women should have equal opportunities but do not agree with selection based on gender or ethnicity. Kemi Badenoch said at the wknd that she wanted to be remembered for what she achieved in her role and not for the fact that she was the first female black leader of a UK party. I read this am that members of the LP are now saying they want more diversity in the cabinet because of KB's election win, totally wrong imo.
