Why is it as women we have to know everything?
Every night I have to know what everyone wants to eat because no one has a bloody clue if I ask them, also this week I've been asked how long it would take to get to London, how long something would take to microwave, what his boss would say if he asked for a day off! I'm fed up

Macadia

DH randomly asks if the dog is outside without looking out the window to see for himself.

Why not answer “I don't know if the dog is outside dear, why don't you ask him/her yourself ?” wink

A favourite one here is -

DH 'Have you seen whatever?'
Me 'No'.
DH 'Well I put it on the table and it's not there now'.
Me 'I haven't seen it'.
DH 'Well I haven't moved it'.
Me 'So you're saying I've moved it'.
DH 'I never said that but I haven't moved it'
Me 'Well there's only two of us living here'.
DH goes off upstairs inn a huff.
DH shouts down 'Found it iny coat pocket. I don't know how it got there'. hmm

DH stands gazing into the fridge "Have we got any butter?"

MissAdventure Sun 10-Nov-24 15:18:35

Not content with asking where something is, my boy compounds it by insisting I was the last person to see/move/hang it out, or get it in.
It's one of the main things we argue about.

Have all the leaves fallen? DH asked.
Not looking at the trees 😕

We have a calendar in the kitchen where all my activities are given but nine times out of ten as I walk out the door OH will plaintively ask where I am going. It seems unless I remind him half an hour before he will deny all knowledge of having been told. Anything relating to household matters is mine to know about: ‘when's the window cleaner/gardener/ gutter cleaner coming?’ It’s on the calendar!

He also is always asking me to look things up ( probably because I spend too much time on my iPad!

OMG! I was so lucky with my husband! None of this rubbish.
The only thing he ever did wrong in 57 years was die.

Biscuitmuncher Sun 10-Nov-24 14:33:19

Definitely, the do I need a coat one

GrannyGravy13 Sun 10-Nov-24 14:22:55

So true 🤣🤣🤣

winterwhite Sun 10-Nov-24 13:52:53

Also What time is it? - when he's wearing an accurate watch. Is it going to rain? - not a cloud in the sky. What are we doing tomorrow? - diary in its usual place. Is there anything interesting on television?...

ginny Sun 10-Nov-24 13:47:07

Oh yes, definitely recognise these questions.
OST annoying though , as we are about to leave the house is’ dI need the loo before we go?’
Well if he doesn’t know, I certainly don’t. !!!

JaneJudge Sun 10-Nov-24 13:34:06

The what’s for dinner thing drives me mad. I’ll step through the door from work and it’s as though they smell me as I turn into the street. My husband calls our adult sons ‘the baby birds’ as they hang around me waiting to be fed

Macadia Sun 10-Nov-24 13:31:28

Thank goodness for this post. I thought I was the only one going through this maddening amount of silly questions every morning. It's one after another. Sometimes I just say, "No more questions, please."

Do you think it's going to rain?

Jaxjacky Sun 10-Nov-24 13:14:00

I wouldn’t ask what people want to eat, just say ‘we’re having xxx’, if they don’t fancy it, they can sort themselves out.
Google is their friend for a lot of daft questions.
Fortunately I don’t have the problems the OP has, maybe because people know me better 🙂

silverlining48 Sun 10-Nov-24 13:12:41

How about ‘where did you put my ….whatever’

Answer? 🤷🏼‍♀️

MissAdventure Sun 10-Nov-24 13:10:48

“Do I need a coat?” grin

I've been in trouble for answering that one "wrongly".
Poor dear took my advice and got cold!

Kate1949 Sun 10-Nov-24 13:09:04

Same here.
'What time do we have to be at so-and-so?'
'Have you ordered a taxi?'
'Can you phone/text whoever to ask them whatever?'
'When is so-and-so's birthday?'
'Did you get a card/gift for whoever?'
'Have you seen my keys?'
It's endless.

grannyqueenie Sun 10-Nov-24 13:03:35

“Do I need a coat?” grin

Katyj Sun 10-Nov-24 13:02:37

Oh yes so annoying. I just say I don't know now to everything 🤣

MissAdventure Sun 10-Nov-24 13:00:25

Take a day off.
It's that simple.
"Where's my (insert item)?"

"Dunno".

It can be altered slightly to fit many situations, and is easy to do. smile

YorkLady Sun 10-Nov-24 12:56:22

Think we are all laughing as we recognise this 😂😂

Babs03 Sun 10-Nov-24 12:54:41

I say we should go on strike, the next time instead of asking what everyone wants to eat tell them to order their own take away.
And my OH is infuriating because I ask him what he wants for tea and he says ‘anything, you decide’ so I decide then he looks at it and says ‘oh are we having this again then.’
Honestly, we should down our pans and spatulas and let them try Uber eats.

fancythat Sun 10-Nov-24 12:41:26

I think of it as a compliment!

Mind you, the tea one is annoying.
