There is an element of truth about the carrots.

What about the great big Father Christmas myth?
I could not bring myself to actually lie to my children, but I just went along with it when other people, mostly Grandparents, told them to be good or he wouldn’t bring parents.

Ah, that's such a sweet memory! Yorkshire mums have a knack for these little magical stories, don’t they? Whether she believed it or not, it sounds like she gave you a beautiful memory to hold onto and maybe a bit of peace and quiet for herself too.

When Iwas really little, about 3 , my mum told me there were fairies at the bottom of the garden and sent me out to look for them. I really believed I could see them and their wings were like rainbows, gossamer fine. Thinking back, it may have been dragonflies or something like that. I am sure she said that so she could get on with her housework with me out of the way, looking back . She was a Yorkshire woman, maybe she really believed it?
