The Queen and domestic violence

I thought Camilla is doing a very good job highlighting the problems women have. It was an excellent program showing how both mental and physical abuse is in all walks of life.
I also thought of how the young Diana was disrespected by her husband.

There is a certain rather glaring irony to all of this that hasn't escaped many posters on other forums, including me.

Camilla was married to a philanderer, I suppose Mrs Manakee,
Mrs.Hoare, Mrs.Carling may say the same

Yes especially as she was having an affair with Charles when he married poor Diana … she should know all about abuse and bullying..

Good for her for caring but I still have a moment when people say * The Queen* as I can’t get used to Camilla being called The Queen.

When people mention The Queen I ALWAYS think they mean ER2 I cannot think of Camilla as Queen! Elizabeth was Queen my whole life 😱

Why do people keep calling Camilla the Queen? She is just the Queen consort NOT the Queen.

Same as The Queen Mother was called the Queen and Mary and Alexander

I too was a victim of domestic abuse, and I wish this issue had been brought out in the open a long time ago. It's so easy to ask why women don't just leave, but there are so many reasons why it might be impossible. I chose not to tell anyone, but I couldn't avoid my lovely GP knowing when I turned up to the surgery black and blue. I don't think she really understood why I stayed in such a horrible marriage, but she did give me medication to help me to live with it.

graninthemist I regularly saw my mother being bashed up which I won't go into. She was from Ireland and had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. She was too ashamed to tell her family.

I love Camilla. My kind of " girl"( lady / woman ... don't want to upset anyone)

Sensible, straight forward and, dare I say , I think she is a very attractive older lady.
Wish they'd been allowed to marry when they were young.
Everyone, even the sainted Diana would have had a happier life.

I didn't watch it but when I saw a clip the other evening, my immediate thought was " hypocrite "

I agree,too many people regard her as The Queen, she is absolutely not. Our late queen declared that she should be called Queen Consort. Too bad Charles doesn't respect his Mothers wishes.

Many of us will have seen a clip of Princess Diana opening her arms and her children running into them. There is also a film of Queen Elizabeth shaking hands with Prince Charles as a very small boy when the Queen Mother had brought him to.greet her after an absence. She doesn't speak to the child but turns from him and the childv looks confused and at a loss. He has said that she was a cold mother and he relied on his grandmother for open aaffection

.I don't think the late Queen had no feelings but I think she maybe didn't understand how most people express them. I sometimes think she may have been autistic. If so, she was perhaps very well suited to her job as she could go through a long life following royal protocol to the letter without feeling frustration or trying to change things. Autistic people, in order to pass, have to learn what to do in social interaction and then act it out rather than knowing what to do spontaneously without thinking about it. It can be a strain. So if she was autistic, protocol would have been very reassuring and s great help..

Did anyone think” Camilla has personal knowledge of this” I thought she was fantastic in this documentary

Very brave but could get very political, can you imagine Queen Elizabeth spearheading a campaign like this?.

No, I can’t! I don’t know whether that’s a good or a bad thing. I was a child when Queen Elizabeth 11 came to the throne and have always thought of her as being on a pedestal, above us mere mortals. The mystery of our Queen then was part of the attraction for me.
That said, I suppose I must move with the times and I think Camilla does a great job but I still feel she should be sitting on the throne and ruling, figuratively speaking! Unfortunately, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was a very hard act to follow and there will never be another like her.

While I have every sympathy with anyone experiencing domestic abuse I really dislike Cammy and Charlie. They are selfish evil people who ruined Diana's life by continuing their affair. And I can never forget that. IMO Cammie is just doing this to fool the public into thinking she's a kind caring person just like Diana. She's not and never will be.
Sorry if this offends some people but it's my opinion and I stand by it.

Can’t Camilla support a cause highlighting domestic abuse of women without comparisons to Diana and the late Queen? They each had their own patronages and whether or not people like it this is Camilla’s time to shine and she’s doing it in her usual understated way.

She’s Queen (consort) whether we like it or not and I do. She’s had a lot on her plate since the coronation and has just ‘got on with it’ and Charles is a better King for it.

Give her a break!

Im a survivor of domestic violence but still can't comment Camilla as she was complicit in the abuse of Diana . As to her late majesty not spearheading campaigns she was the Monarch Camilla is not
