I’m not going to start this, but I do have some names. Will reveal them as we go along.

In retrospect I would like to meet 99% of GN members, the majority come across as caring and empathetic.

Irrespective of political views, life circumstances, being different which makes things interesting.

This.

People are interesting, always something to learn.

I would like to meet my bio father and tell him what I thought of the way he treated my bio mother.

Why can’t GSM come back? I can’t imagine she would ever have said anything that bad. Controversial, yes, but never spiteful. Maybe the person who reported her should have a good hard look at themself.

I'd love to meet Paul Simon and remind him of one of the more unusual folk clubs he sang in whilst he lived in London in the 60s - Chislehurst Caves!!

moleswife I used to go to Chislehurst Caves in the 60s!

When I was young I worked for a theatrical agent and that cured me of wanting to meet actors or interesting personalities!!
I think it is possible llfl and I could enjoy a good chat, her posts remind of a dear long gone friend and we seem to have some common interests.

Mt61. We weren't IN their dressing room. We were outside in the street. We suspected they were in there and a girl climbed up and broke a pane of glass shock blush We took turns peering in. We saw Ringo. Later George came to the broken window to chat to us. We didn't have tickets but a roadie left a side door open and we saw the show. I floated home. I have many tales to tell and frequently do so grin Mizuna Lucky you.

I’d like to meet and chat to Michael Palin and Michael Portillo so well travelled, interesting, intelligent and I would say wise.

David Attenborough. I remember watching him on our black and white tv with my parents and sister in the 1950s. From then on I have watched him throughout my 78 years. It will feel like I have lost a family member when he dies.

I know what you mean NanKate. David Attenborough was part of my childhood too. There's no one to equal him and he will be a great loss. I hope he'll continue for several more years yet.

Only one person but unfortunately he’s dead. My hero, Ernest Shackleton.

The word hero is now much overused, but Shackleton truly was a great hero, such grit and determination to do what he did those men saved must have been so grateful.

I've bored GN too with my story of spending a day with George Harrison when he was house hunting in Cornwall and my husband was an estate agent. We took him everywhere in our car. He was the loveliest man, so humble. No-one recognised him!

I'd love to meet the Danish executive and his wife who lost three children in an explosion on holiday and have since had three more children. I'd be so interested to hear how they've coped.

Gransnetters... far too many lovely people to mention, though karmalady and I could probably talk all day about wood and tools. 🤣🤣 If we could find the time ha ha.

Could GSM come back as eg Alsationsauntie? I do wish she would.

Janiepops Thu 14-Nov-24 02:10:01

I would absolutely love to meet Sir Chris Whitty, and get the story of ‘behind the scenes’ during Covid.
Elon Musk, a genius.

Mt61 George spoke to me and four other girls through a dressing room window. It was heaven. I also have a picture of myself and some others sitting behind The Beatles on stage asI have bored GN with many times. Sorry to derail the thread.

Oh brilliant, how did you wanggle that? Did they invite you up?

Shinamae - Tell GSM I miss her and thank her for her help. I have pmd her but doubt she will receive it.

Please all rest assured that she is reading the comments on the thread and is very appreciative of them as well…🦋

I think for famous people, Jane Goodall for her amazing lifetime of zoology and anthropology, and maybe Julia Louis Dreyfuss, since she has a bubbly and joking personality. I sense she would be fun at a dinner party.

And as for gransnetters, I would be happy to meet any of you; I think it would be good fun. However, the distances...

Yes really Mt61.

Madalene. No difficulties with my mother. She died at 58. I had a drunken, violent, abusive father.

Would have love to have met George!

I am in regular contact with GSM and she does read the threads and on her behalf would like me to thank you for the comments about wanting to meet her and she said she would like to meet you as well and she really appreciates what has been said.
It is a shame and a loss to this site that she cannot post any more…

That’s lovely to hear, I miss her comments, even though I disagreed with many haha.

Please pass on my very best, she reminded me so much of my own late mother, who didn’t “suffer fools gladly” and spoke bluntly but wisely.
