Good morning from a bright Oxfordshire, hairdresser this morning, I’ve cancelled her twice because of my ear problem, but as MrOops is going to deliver and collect me I think I can manage to sit in a chair for 3 hours, a bit concerned about the rinsing off, but I can’t worry about that at the moment,

I have a bad ear ache, which in a way is good as it shows that my problem is definitely an ear problem and not a brain thing.

Then MrOops is taking me over to MissOops for an overnight stay, the first time in over 8 years, now the Nephew has moved out she can have people in the house, including her parents!

Susan hope today goes well.
ash great pic.

Hope everybody has as good a day as they can and are able to enjoy some sunshine. I don’t go out in it much but I do appreciate it.

What a handsome chap Ash! 💙

Georgesgran Wed 13-Nov-24 08:03:37

An emotional day for you and your Mum Susan. I hope it all goes to plan and she settles in well.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 13-Nov-24 08:03:46

Ha! Just seen you said the same Greyduster I hadn’t seen your post when I said it. 😁

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 13-Nov-24 08:07:27

Oh Susan56 I can feel your anticipation mixed with trepidation. Sending you and your mum my very best wishes for better health and yes, happiness, in her new home.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where we have only just awoken. I haven’t yet read your posts but I hope today has some sun in it for all.

Off to keep fit in less than an hour and then DH are off to Norwich for afternoon tea in the Ivy,c/o a voucher given by the Bristol DGC.

We need a new sofa so may pop into John Lewis whilst there.

GrannyIvy Wed 13-Nov-24 08:15:16

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Today I am meeting one of my oldest friends for lunch. DH is doing a cycle ride and lunch out as well.
Otherwise not a lot happening here.

Susan do hope your mums move to the care home goes well.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday 💐

JudyBloom Wed 13-Nov-24 08:15:41

I’m sure Ash has no objections to a consensus, FGT😁!

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, misty Carlisle where it is currently 4°C. I'm going to make adjustments to my CH timings in view of the week's forecast and time to dig my vests out!

Yesterday I saw the physio at the surgery...I have a rotator cuff injury to the right shoulder diagnosed. I left with a sheet of exercises to perform and instructions to keep it moving, immobilising it is bad apparently. I also bought myself a heat pack as heat is advised, not ice. It seems last months hauling a suitcase about has set the joint up for this. I've got to haul it about this Christmas....

Today it's giving the kitchen and bathrooms a clean up and then admin time, my desk is an untidy mess again.

Susan I send my best wishes to your Mum and hope she will be happy in her new abode. What a major step it is giving up your own home...

Belated Happy Birthday to Olddudders!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 7°C, with a beautiful red sky.

GrannyGravy, I would have loved to have been at your meetup!

Yesterday I took myself off to Silverburn, but much later than usual, my chest is so congested.
Tesco had 25%off all clothing and I bought a knitted dress I didn't need, clothes for BabyD and a thermal top. They cost me €0. When booking my Tesco slot, I found lots of unused vouchers, a guilt free shopping trip!

I got back to find the Virgin Media engineer had been while I was out, my heart sank.
To my astonishment, MrMD had surpassed himself. We had not one, but two new TIVO boxes. The engineer went to check the WIFI signal in the conservatory and spotted the Virgin box from the Stone Age. He replaced it with the latest model! What a difference.
He also checked our router for problems etc. I never thought I would say this, but full marks to Virgin Media.

I have managed to get the top half of the freezer working and now have to decide if we should buy a new one or not. I keep hoping that it will kick back into life.
The choice is very limited, due to the narrow space, hence my reluctance..

Last night we had a beautiful Parish Bereavement Mass. The church was lit mainly by candle light. It was so peaceful and soothing.
The new PP thanked me and the young assistant sacristan, from the altar for all we have done to support him. We were quite shocked, the previous PP had never done that.

Last year, we had no heating all winter, couldn't source a part, and it was horrendously cold in the church. It has been sorted, but is not reliable. The new PP told me last night that he has requested quotes from four contractors for a new system. A man, who cares about his parishioners. They will rejoice at the news.

Hugs for today, Susan, I hope it goes well. It will be a difficult and emotional day.

Glad to hear that your shift went well., Baubles, I hope you are being spoiled Redcar and Annypops belated congratulations. #proud grandmother!
Georgesgran, I realised that if I parked my car on a hill, with the roof down, it wouldn't go back up again, Visions of huge repair bills, until I realised that it had to be on flat ground.

Enjoy your day folks, I shall just fouter around, my cough is driving me and everyone else mad. I am getting so many looks of annoyance.

NannyJan53 Wed 13-Nov-24 08:38:35

Good morning from a slightly misty Black Country.

Sitting in a Wetherspoons whilst car is being MOT’d. Usually book a Service at same time, but despite ringing a month beforehand they could not do Service, as so busy. So that is booked for 18th December, the earliest they could fit it in! Keeping fingers crossed 🤞 as car is 10 years old, but only do about 3K a year.

No real plans today, but going out tonight for an Italian meal with my walking group. We arrange this every 3 months.

Wishing you all the best day possible

GrannySomerset Wed 13-Nov-24 08:44:06

Another lovely start to the day, a real spirit lifter, and a compensation for the fact that we have six weeks of ever shorter days to look forward to.

Thinking of Susan and hoping the day goes smoothly, and that all difficult decisions work out. So hard to do the right thing and you can only do your best in the given circumstances.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-Nov-24 08:50:34

I shall be thinking of you and your mum today Susan56 I hope all goes as well as these things do 😘

Good morning from a sunny but chilly County Durham.
Lovely photo of your DH Ash. He certainly looks in celebratory mood surrounded by those balloons.
Meeting a friend in the city later for lunch and will hopefully do a little browse in the few shops that survive in Durham now.
We're away overnight tomorrow so a little packing required when I return. We have a 5 plus mile walk planned and the hotel stop over is our little reward at the end.
Thanks for the congratulations MD. I was rewarded with a massive hug yesterday from GD1 and praised her for her comeback from 5th to 3rd place in the final. Such maturity from a soon to be 13 year old to hold it all together. Sadly the Polish team they beat in the final were in tears. Sport can be painful in more ways than one!
Hope that rain clears quickly FGT.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Annypop Wed 13-Nov-24 08:54:31

Sending thanks Susan.

Marydoll Wed 13-Nov-24 08:55:53

Susan, I was in the same position as you.

When I went to visit my mother after she had been moved, I hardly reognised her. She was content, ( always had been an angry woman) clean (hygiene had become an issue,) hair done and smartly dressed.

I had spent years, battling these issues, to no avail. I do hope things go well.

harrigran Wed 13-Nov-24 09:17:24

Good morning from a bright NE.
Sister and BIL are coming today and taking me shopping.
I spent the day tidying files in the study and going through cupboards, I was looking for a CCTV window sticker which I found just as I was about to give up and go and make dinner. Typical, always in the last place you look 😄
You all seem to have such busy days, have a good day.

luluaugust Wed 13-Nov-24 09:21:45

Good morning from a grey W Kent. No progress with the super cold or whatever it is, so have given in and will stay in and move beds so DH can get some sleep
Best wishes for today Susan

aggie Wed 13-Nov-24 09:39:28

Good morning from a brightening Co Armagh, now that the fog has cleared .
It really cold , my hands are painful , took me 45 minutes to dress , I couldn’t fasten my bra , so I put in the extender , now my bosom is more suspended than contained !
Club this am , I think there is a choir coming , I might mislay my hearing aids ! I’ll be in the back row catching up with my crochet , we are to piece it together into a blanket in a couple of weeks
Wishing everyone the best day possible 💐

All schools are closed in the Málaga region today. ‘Stay home, don’t travel unless necessary’ we are being warned. The rain is bettering the balcony windows now and the palm trees in the garden are shaking to the very strong winds coming down from the mountains behind us.

Oh FGT2 your description really frightens and upsets me.

The last big flood in that area that I remember, the water just came down the mountain through the dedicated channel (which is now the Fuengirola Feria Ground) my sisters friend and her Dad were trapped in the underground car park and didn’t survive.

Stay high, keep dry 🤞🏻😘

Good morning Mick and all from 7°C northwest coast.
I made it to the music club yesterday and so glad I went, although it’s frustrating as I’m not allowed to sing yet in case I bust a gut😁 I might subject them to one of my poems. We have a couple of “poetesses’, but the consensus is that the club started as a music club and that is what it should remain.

Off to the usual lunchtime recital and then a coffee with girlfriend to meet her new chap. Unfortunately he lives at the other end of the country, but they seem to be working things out well.

Sorry you are still having problems Mick, nice to see your other half Ash thoughts to Redcar Susan and all🌺

Grandmabatty Wed 13-Nov-24 10:22:38

Stay safe FGT.
I've just returned from the chiropodist, a visit I had completely forgotten about! You've never seen anyone dress as quickly😂

luluaugust Wed 13-Nov-24 10:28:37

FGT thinking of you sounds nasty
