Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.
We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.
By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.
I am off to my bed.
Thank you all for being extra special people.

Hoping your DH isnt too uncomfortable llfl and an early night does him good
February sounds like a very busy month grannmarie hope there’s lots of celebrations to look forward to! 🎂🥂💐
Thank you, lovely ladies, for your kind wishes. Neine, I had multiple blood tests in December, everything is fine. I hope your tummy pain improves, sounds very uncomfortable. YiaYia, I think you're right about the weather, I'm sure it affects my mood and energy levels. Brook, please send me some sunshine! ☀
Poor Lordleftfieldlover, no wonder he's having an early night. I hope he can be treated quickly and your holiday can go ahead, Ladyleftfieldlover.
Hoping the Soops are doing OK.
Looking forward to hearing about Grandmabatty's day, I'm sure she'll enjoy the challenge and be a great asset to the school.
Enjoy your quiz, Jaxjacky. I chuckled at Fin's reply to his Mum, he's a candidate for the diplomatic service!
I did some birthday shopping today for the eight ( yes eight!) forthcoming February birthdays. The Wee Boy will be five soon, time flies!
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA.
Hello kitchen people.
I’m watching Only Connect while OH is having an early night.
He is not a happy bunny. He had an appointment with a urologist today and he had quite a painful and uncomfortable time. He must have an operation. For once he drove himself as he was only expecting a consultation. Anyway, he got home in one piece, had a tiny dinner and went to bed. He is concerned we may have to cancel our holidays, but ‘pessimist’ is his middle name.
I’m pleased to hear those of us in the kitchen with problems are happier.
Have a good evening.
Hi to all kitchen pals, I hope everyone is doing ok
Such good news from Yia and GrandmaC47 so pleased for both your DHs
Fin sounds like he’s a real charmer Jax, love his style!
Hoping today has gone well and been enjoyable grandmabatty
It’s been a bit of a wet and windy day here in Spain, not cold though by Inverness standards but lots of Spanish locals well wrapped up! We took the local bus to Marbella, walked around the interesting old town, enjoyed a tapas lunch and then a walk around the port area. We’re just back to our apartment now and a Pizza is in the oven to munch on very soon
Hoping your DH is home now SueD and on the mend
grannmarie hope you’re doing ok 💐
Thank you all for your kind words. Its so good to be able to get on with our lives at least for a while.
Grannmarie I hope you’re not so tired today I’m sure the weather is not helping. We have had rain and wind all day here.
Your Fin will go far Jax🤣🤣
Thinking of the Soops and hope they are O.K
Slow cooked beef in Guinness for dinner.
Take care everyone.
Llfl, we get these huge baptisms too, usually farming families, and often the event seems to have replaced a wedding.
Super to read that DH's are improving....relief all round. I hope the Soops have power back and Mr Soop is more comfortable too. We went on an unplanned road trip on Friday. A vehicle needed returning to a customer in Cannock and nobody was available to take it so DH offered my services ( After driving myself around OZ and NZ a trip from Honiton to Staffordshire was a walk in the park). In the end he came too as I woke up with painful tummy spasms and didn't feel strong enough to do it in my own. The vehicle was going back very close to Cannock Chase and it's a name that I've always associated with the murders of 3 little girls.... Heavens knows why as I was only little when they happened but it's the same when I drive through the Savernake Forrest..
We loved having an unexpected day together despite me not feeling too great. It doesn't seem to have gone away yet. It's like that rolling rumbling getting you get when you are very hungry but painful and worst in the morning. Ho Hum.
Granmarie...I was worried to read that you are always tired...is it this time of year? Have you had a recent blood test? In the meantime an afternoon siesta is perfect acceptable...the 3 dogs cwtch up with me on the sofa and no blanket is needed.
Granmabatty...I hope they find out what's causing your Mum's rattly chest. If it's a chest infection she may well feel like not eating but hopefully the nurses will make sure she stays hydrated. Good luck at the library...it's good to feel your enthusiasm and purpose once more.
Jax...Well done Finlay...a great comeback.
Redcar...well done to your knight in techno armour for sorting out your account and easing your worries.
FGT...Happy times and memories to cherish.
Corner....are you feeling like me that webbed feet are needed where we are living just now?
Lots of flooding ...thankfully we are not affected.
Thunder and lightening at 5am saw Fin and Storm careering around the bedroom before diving onto our bed. Fin was terrified and tried to get under the duvet but he couldn't as I was already cowering under it...his heart was pounding like mine so in the end I bravely sat up and scooped him in for a cwtch and we both fell asleep .
Dentist this pm but if the tummy pain subsided I'll try for gym beforehand.
Wishing everyone a happy week.
Nannytopsy - I can remember a couple of baptisms like that. Generally people who weren’t regular churchgoers. At least they were in church and maybe something rubbed off?
It’s been a busy day with a baptism at church. I came away in a most unchristian frame of mind over the behaviour of the congregation. Hymn books and service sheets left scattered over the church, people talking all through the service and then litter and coffee cups left behind. I’m still getting over my knee op and it was much too much for me. And the vicar was late!
Rant over.
A bit more contentment in the kitchen tonight - spring will be here eventually too!
Pleased to read much positive news in the Kitchen. Sleep well everyone .
Good news for yiayia, sueD and grandmaC47, what a relief for you all. grandmabatty sorry that your mum is not so good today.
I had a fright yesterday when I thought that my Apple account had been hacked, fortunately the knight in shining armour, aka my lovely son in law, came over this morning and sorted it out for me! After a fairly sleepless night last night, I shall have an early night tonight. A horribly cold wet and windy afternoon here, so no walk for me today. I think I might hibernate until Spring!
Have a peaceful evening everyone, stay safe in this latest storm,.
Jax. 😂
That boy can obviously charm the birds from the trees and will go far!
‘Evening All’.
I agree GG13 with you, an atmosphere of much relief in the kitchen tonight. Good. Anxiety and worry over health issues is very draining.
I can add to the spirit of hopefulness tonight. We went out for a pub meal mid afternoon with my stepfather and it was a joy to witness Himself tucking into a full roast dinner. He ate nearly all of it too. He takes his time but that’s just sensible. He drove too - half an hour each way and was just so much ‘his old self’ in so many ways my ♥️ was full of love and gratitude. Long may this continue. x
My daughter to her son today ‘please don’t speak to me like that Finley, I’m not one of your mates’
Fin ‘but you look so young Mum, that’s why I speak to you like a mate’
Thanks, Grandmabatty, I enjoyed a wee sofa siesta!
I'm sorry to hear that your Mum is not so good, hoping and praying that she improves soon.
Thinking of all with illness, worries or sorrow. 🙏💕
There is an atmosphere of relief in the kitchen this afternoon.
Long may the steady stream of good news continue.
Hoping the soops are ok
Yiayia good news about your husband. Grannmarie get those baffies on and your feet up. 😊
Dgs2 went home at lunchtime and I tidied up the chaos. Then I visited mum who isn't good. Since covid, she is refusing to eat and drink again. She has a very rattly cough too. The nurses are quite concerned. She wasn't in the mood for a chat and kept turning away, so I only stayed twenty minutes. Shortly I'll make cauliflower cheese and mashed potatoes to go with the gammon. Have a good evening Kitcheners.
SueD & YiaYia 💐🍾
Great news from SueD GrannyC47 and Yia palpable sighs of relief all round.
You have my sympathy llfl I’m on the house insurance hunt, making my head hurt.
It’s wet, windy and cool here, heating on, we’ll venture out later for the meat draw, beef in the slow cooker with veg for later. Haggis was delicious last night, a little left to add to a future cottage pie.
Hello 👋 YiaYia, glad to hear your DH 's good news, what a weight off your shoulders! Enjoy your few days away, recharge your batteries. 🥰
Not long home from Mass and visiting the sick. Lentil soup and crusty bread for a late lunch, now I'm going to put my feet up and probably snooze 😴 for a wee while. I'm very tired these days, I think I was a squirrel in a previous existence, designed to hibernate! It's cold, wet and windy here, not a day for gallivanting.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday, TOYA.
Hello Kitcheners. The gruelling week is over.
The good news no cancer found.😀He has to see the consultant in about a months time. The options are not great an operation which is risky for him and only a slim chance of working, meds with bad side effects or, keep the catheter. So not the best options but of course could be a lot worse. The liver scan was done but don’t know results yet.We will try and forget about it all for a few weeks and may sort out a few days away.It will be good not to have appointments for a little while. At last I have a blue badge and it’s good for us both now, sad but needed.
Hope Mr Soop is healing and comfortable and they now have power. Its been awful here today heavy rain and winds.
Take care everyone enjoy the rest of your day.
You may be right UTBB - I was told to ask for a capon but the butcher referred to it as a cockerel. Whichever, it was the biggest chicken I have ever seen! 🤣
When I was young we always had a capon at Christmas, which for those not in the know was a castrated rooster.
I thought that they had been banned in England but would be happy to hear this is not so.p
