Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.

We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.

By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.

I am off to my bed.

Thank you all for being extra special people. flowers moon]

Hello kitchen people.

I hope the Soops are reunited and Mr Soop’s head isn’t too sore. FGT2 - I’m glad you’re over your blip.

I made two new cake recipes today. A huge chocolate cake with beer. I had to top up the plain chocolate with chilli chocolate! Could be interesting. I also made a coffee and almond cake. Dinner was one of our favourites - sausages cooked with red wine, mushrooms and bacon. In fact a sausage au vin!

Sleep 💤 tight.

I hope MrSoop is back home and all cooried down.

GMbatty! shock Thank goodness you’re ok. flowers I almost did the same at Xmas. I put some baubles onto an outside tree and stepped back down from the ladder. I thought I was on the lowest step but in fact was two steps up so I had launched myself into space! I managed not to make a fool of myself in my own front garden but it certainly gives you a fright.

I’m glad you feel calmer today, FGT. flowers

We’ve managed to avoid all NHS departments today which is an improvement on things. Dh is still not well but the weird episodes are becoming less severe each time so I hope he’s over the worst. He’s not eating much at all, which is pretty much a first in all our years together, and I find it quite bewildering.

I hope we’ll have a quiet day tomorrow and I wish a pleasant Sunday to you all. Xxx

Good to hear you’re doing ok grandmabatty, take it easy x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 18-Jan-25 20:53:54

‘Evening All’.

I’m a happier bunny tonight. Last night I was jittery because Himself had a slight blip. I was scared. We slept well and all has been fine today thankfully. 🤞

Trust the soops will be ‘billing and cooing’ home together this evening and that all is well.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 18-Jan-25 19:50:47

Pleased you are ok Grandmabatty

GSs are fed, The Imp is building empires out of LEGO, the 9yr old is watching Karate Kid.

We are cooking our dinner.

Night Night 🙋‍♀️😘

Jaxjacky Sat 18-Jan-25 19:20:30

Glad you’re ok Grandmabatty a shock though.
I too am hoping the soops are happily reunited.
A quiet day, cold and grey out, so hunkered down indoors with the paper and watched a film.
Chicken, sweet potato and mushroom curry bubbling away, that’ll do.
A wave to the quiet corner and those struggling, including Blossoming 👋👋🌹

Redcar Sat 18-Jan-25 18:52:13

grandmabatty I hope you’re ok, take it easy this evening. I don’t get up ladders of any type any more, because I wobble too much.
I had a walk this morning, but it was cold. I cleared a shelf in one of the cupboards and got rid of some old oven gloves and dusters with holes in them! Lots more to do but it’s a start.
I hope mrsoop is safely home now.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Grannmarie Sat 18-Jan-25 18:12:59

Thanks for your update, Grandmabatty, relax and enjoy your evening.

Grandmabatty Sat 18-Jan-25 17:38:57

Thank you ladies. I'm absolutely fine, just cross at myself. Nothing damaged except my pride. I'll let my daughter know tomorrow when she drops off dgs2 for a while. She's a worrier and I'm ok so I don't want to worry her unduly.
I've made a milk chocolate cake out of the Bero book and I'm having an easy dinner of macaroni cheese. Thank you again for being kind.

Grannmarie Sat 18-Jan-25 17:00:49

Oh, Grandmabatty, I'm so sorry to hear that! Hoping and praying that you've done no lasting damage to yourself, and that you feel better soon. Good idea of FGT's to let your daughter know, just to be on the safe side.

Dear Soop, I hope you and your lovely man are reunited 💕 now, and that his head is healing comfortably.

Thinking of SueD and DH, the FGTs, and all who are worried about loved ones.
DH and I are having a lazy afternoon on the sofa, playing with our gadgets... roast chicken for dinner tonight.
We had a good afternoon yesterday with the Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy. They've booked up for a sunshine holiday at Easter. So far we have nothing planned for this year, not like us. Travel is a bit more tricky for us now with DH'S limited mobility. Sometimes Airport assistance is excellent, other times it lets you down and you miss your transfer...
Hope brook and DH are having a wonderful holiday in Estepona, lovely area.🌞
Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening, TOYA. 🥰

TillyTrotter Sat 18-Jan-25 16:34:32

grandmabatty do take care of yourself xx

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 18-Jan-25 14:56:31

Oh Grandmabatty that will have shaken you up good style. Perhaps ring your daughter? Just to be on the safe side.

Grandmabatty Sat 18-Jan-25 14:50:24

Glad to hear that Mr Soop will be home soon. I've just given myself a fright. I fell off a step stool attempting to reach a high shelf and banged the back of my head on the floor. I am bit shaken so will sit quietly for a while.

TillyTrotter Sat 18-Jan-25 13:53:05

Emma has given an interview saying she just did not play well enough and could not blame any health issues. . Iga Swiatek simply outplayed her.

TillyTrotter Sat 18-Jan-25 13:48:14

I am cheered and relieved by Mr soop ‘s homecoming.
Sued 💐 you are encountering horrors while your DH receives his treatment.
It is adding to your worries.
FGT I hope your inkling is unfounded 🙏
A dull day but plenty of exciting Aussie Open tennis has kept me entertained this morning.
Our Emma Radacanu is once again unable to progress in the Grand Slam. She is beleaguered with illness and injuries it seems. 😟
Wishing you all the best day you can have.

Hellogirl1 Sat 18-Jan-25 11:58:11

So pleased to hear that Mr Soop is coming home today, you must be so relieved and excited, I know you`re rarely separated.

soop Sat 18-Jan-25 11:40:13

Dear Mr Soop will be back home (where he belongs) at 4:00 this afternoon. I have missed him dreadfully.

SueD My word! I trust that you and your dear husband have a much less stressful weekend after Friday's awful scare.

A group hug for all our Kitcheners. smile

Nannytopsy Sat 18-Jan-25 08:04:13

Morning everyone! I woke once in the night then slept until 7.40. What a result!
We had our village friends round yesterday to eat the left over Christmas crisps and nibbles and drink some fizz. I always buy too many and we want to drop the carbs again from next week.
Lovely to hear the house full of noise.
Best wishes to you all

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 17-Jan-25 22:24:34

Hello kitchen people.

Gosh, so many of you are having difficult and worrying times. I hope the weekend proves peaceful.

The highlight of my day (after spending the morning doing WI admin) was a trip to Specsavers. Over the last two years my eyes have got worse. I need new reading glasses and for the first time, long distance glasses. Ho hum.

Sleep 💤 tight.

brook2704 Fri 17-Jan-25 22:17:53

Oh my goodness SueD what an awful time you’re both having, sending much love to you and your DH x

brook2704 Fri 17-Jan-25 22:16:33

Hi to all kitchen pals, especially everyone in the quiet corner, sending ❤️ to you all

I’ve been thinking of MrSoop today, hoping all has gone well

We’re still enjoying our relaxing holiday in Spain, I’ve not really got anything exciting to report, we’ve just been spending our days meandering about and enjoying much warmer weather than at home. In the mornings we’ll walk for a while and then stop for a coffee, then wander back to the apartment for a light lunch and then in the afternoons we’ll walk the other direction and stop for a glass of wine and sit for a while. Then back for a rest before going out for something to eat. We’re just back now, the promenade and fountains are all lit up and look gorgeous

Hoping your little GGD has had a lovely 1st birthday uttb 👶 and hope the decorater got the job finished and looks good

Hope the anxiety settles soon FGT and you can relax and enjoy the weekend x

SueDonim Fri 17-Jan-25 22:08:54

Thank you for all the kind thoughts. ❤️

Another full-on day today. Dh initially felt ok this morning but suddenly began a repeat of yesterday’s symptoms and I ended up calling 999. They arrived in less than ten minutes and set about monitoring him. It all began to settle down but they felt he needed to be seen by a specialist team so they made arrangements for me to take him to a bigger hospital than our local one. We spent the rest of the day there, nothing untoward was found and they think the side effects are his body’s rather unusual way of reacting to the medications. So we’ll need to just get through it, really. It was reassuring to have anything serious ruled out, I think they did every test known to man!

So, we’re both rather exhausted now and off to bed soon.

TOYA. Xxx

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 17-Jan-25 19:31:45

‘Evening All’.

I feel a bit jittery tonight. Hopefully ‘something and nothing’ about Himself. It’ll pass 🤞 my anxiety is always always just below the surface. It will never leave me, this I know.

Trust the soops are back together and that things went well today. x

Jaxjacky Fri 17-Jan-25 19:12:35

Hi all, very quiet here.
I hope he finishes for you uttbb but I don’t mind people working in the house, I just carry on.
Another grey chilly day, typical January really, I briefly had a garden wander, planning a new raised bed for veg.
In about half an hour ago from our local which was busy, a good chat with various friends. the subjects ranged from seed potatoes, through plans for the pub golf day to exercises for one persons bad back, a convivial hour or so.
#lazygran dinner of quiche, small potatoes, carrots and peas.
I hope Mr soop had a successful appointment.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 17-Jan-25 11:53:14

Good morning all.
SueD how awful that your DH’s first treatment was so traumatic, not a good experience to start with.
I hope subsequent ones are better handled and received.

Also hope Mr Soop is ok with his op today.

It is my GGD’s 1st birthday today.
I shall not be seeing her but received a video this morning of her playing football in the living room!!
She was walking at 10 months and runs about now.

My neighbours are off to South Africa for 18 days today.
They were both fortunate enough to retire early and the trip was all planned for four years ago and then Covid struck, then their first GC was born so this is the first time they were able to book it again.

I am hoping against hope the decorator finishes today.
He is not coming until after lunch
He is a pleasant enough man but I really don’t like people in MySpace day after day.
I don’t think I am alone in this.
Nothing gets done.

Have the best day you can everyone.
