Me and OH didn’t have the day we’d planned. The train to London was on time, the tubes were running well and we got to the National Gallery in time for lunch. A delicious lunch. Then the Van Gogh exhibition. But not! We are members of the National Gallery which means we should be able to simply turn up, wave our membership cards and go straight through. Not today. This is the last few days of the exhibition and madness ensued. It is absolutely fully booked but members are instructed to turn up. There were hundreds of us and the only advantage we had was to jump the first two queues. There were two further queues which were enormous. Now OH is allergic to queues and has bad memories of a 4-hour queue at Lagos airport. So we decided to go and look at the other paintings in the gallery, so that’s what we did and had a lovely time. The train back to Oxford was on time and we were back home in time for a cup of tea.

Just popped in to send best wishes to Mr Soop for tomorrow. Hope that you Soop don’t spend the day worrying about him and your friends look after you.
Not much happening with us at the moment just living the quiet life without drama which is a good thing I think. I alsways find January a difficult month to deal with but we are more than halfway through it. DH is busy looking for holidays for us but as usual this is a long process 🤣 and more complicated than it needs to be!

jax can we share the halo please? In any event, there are more things on my “to do” list than I’ve actually done! Including a complete rearrangement of my wardrobe which is going to involve getting everything out of it and sorting through, then rearranging it. If I do it I’ll never find anything again…

I`m just about to heat up what``s left of the soup I made yesterday. It did me yesterday`s tea, and dinner and tea today, so it was good value.

‘Evening All’.

We’ve had a fair amount of warm sunshine today, so we made the most of it at lunchtime and went for a nice walk in the park. It was lovely to see the squirrels and listen to the birds. Then we looped back home to meet our friends in the bar downstairs from us. It was good to see them. We’ve known them 40 years. He has been recently diagnosed at the age of 71 with small bowel cancer which apparently is quite rare and there isn’t a lot of data to determine whether or not chemotherapy after the surgery he had last summer is a good idea or not. It’s a very stressful time for them, and my heart went out to them both. A scan is booked at the end of January and an outpatient appointment at the Christie in the middle of February. We have arranged to meet up with them the week after that.

Oh SueD Poor you And your husband, too. What a traumatic start to his treatment. I hope from here on in that the path is smoother, especially now his team know he will have reactions to monitor. Fingers crossed for a good result eventually. Going through all of this awfulness is a godsend if this happens. Hopefully you will in time look back on these dark days with relief.

Well done Jaxjacky, Grandmabatty, Redcar and all the busy bees of the kitchen. I can't compete, my speeds are dead slow and stop these days! But this afternoon I managed to pass an hour or so on the sunny patio, tidying up some plants, moving tubs around and sweeping up lots of leaves. Poor hydrangea is looking worse for wear after the heavy frosts, but I can see signs of new growth so 🤞. Heathers and hellebores are giving some nice pinky purple colour until the spring bulbs flower, they're on their way.
Then I decluttered one shelf in my wardrobe, I'm aiming for little and often!

Sweet potatoes, cauli and broccoli with air fryer salmon for dinner this evening. Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, especially those in the quiet corner and all with sorrow, illness or worries. 🥰

We’re just back from dh’s first treatment. It was awful. The unit is grim, so many patients crammed into a small area and relatives are not allowed to stay. I had a horrible flashback to when a late friend was being treated for leukaemia in Glasgow and the trauma of seeing a Victorian style ward full of desperately sick people, 40+ years ago.

Then when I went to collect Dh he wasn’t feeling great, which developed into a full-on allergic reaction to the meds with five staff members working on him. I was blissfully aware at this point, not being allowed into the unit. They came to tell me and then let me sit with him for several hours until he became stable enough to be allowed home.

I’m just exhausted and so is he, plus he’s full of antihistamines which are making him sleepy.

I think my halo has been reallocated to Redcar and Grandmabatty 🤣🤣

Another gloomy grey day today, but with one or two glimpses of the sun. Went for my usual walk this morning, managed to go a little further today. I spent about 10 minutes chatting to one of my neighbours, good to catch up with his news. I was glad to sit down with a coffee and the paper afterwards.
I swept the bathroom floor and cleaned the loos, so all sparkling now!
Finally got round to tidying the coffee table in the living room, so that looks better now. Emptied all the recycling bins and put them outside - I’m in one of those areas where every recyclable item has it’s own bin or bag - 7 different bins/boxes and bags in all.
Now having a rest! But can’t sit for too long otherwise I seize up!

The whole house has been hoovered, washing done, kitchen tidied and bread made. Then a visit to the library for new reading materials. I've had a busier day than expected. I hope you are all well.

Afternoon everyone, I’m pooped, two exercise classes in two days, halo being polished.
Bedding washed earlier and now drying, sadly not outside, a tease of sun was all we’ve had until the gloom descended.
I have had a lovely long phone call with a friend, paid some bills online and tried on a new fleece jacket. It’s a heavyweight fleece and £18 from £60 in the Regatta sale, very snug.
My daughter is calling in tonight when Fin is at football training, a good catch-up in her busy life.
