What’s your idea of a favourite night out?

What do you enjoy most from a night out? Is it a cosy meal out in your local Chinese restaurant with family, a candlelit romantic meal out with your DH/partner/toyboy, an evening at the theatre seeing a serious dramatic play, going to see a musical with a group of friends, a trip to the cinema/ ballet/ opera maybe?
My treat is an Italian restaurant local to me, with three friends, four ladies with plenty to say, lots of laughs, good food and wine.We love it.Life is busy for us all but we do this about four times a year.

Love live music
Boy George was playing in Dublin last night. I thought about buying tickets but thankfully I didn't as my back isn't great unfortunately.
Saw him back in the day and in 2018
Also love musicals/theatre

A meal and going on to the theatre in the West End. Doesn’t happen much these days due to such high prices for theatre tickets. Even our local theatres are now so expensive. Such a shame.

I love going to the theatre in the west end but forget in between how it lifts my heart about living in London and the talent and creativity of human beings. I took canadian cousins from the north west territories to see the musical tina and then took night busses home to tooting and people were so uplifted and friendly and I was so proud of being a londoner ( expat of 50 years from toronto)

My favourite night out is to stay in and watch TV. I don't go out in the evenings

A night at the opera, not grand and glitzy at Covent Garden but any touring opera performing at a local theatre, church, or garden or even the amateur groups that perform real opera and whose productions are often of an exceptionally high quality.

Theatre, but it doesn't happen very often!

Recently we have been babysitting so our worn out daughters and SiLs can have a night out. They put fun snacks out and we look up what’s on Netflix and enjoy the whole experience.
A bit boring am sure.

Another Status Quo gig or if he was anywhere near this time round after seeing him twice in his talk gigs Francis Rossi!

It has to be live jazz .
It's great with a meal and a drink .

Our local Fine Dine Indian Restaurant, 7eventi1, OMG I love their food!

My perfect night out is usually early evening dinner with my DH, AC’s their partners and our DGDs. Having a family get together on 29/12 at home as AS2 is going away for Christmas.

On a warm night sitting outside eating a nice meal at a bistro with either friends or my hubby but definitely no children with in ear shot!

Cossy Tue 03-Dec-24 11:28:02

Meal with our besties, then something at the theatre!

We are so lucky we are 5 mins walk to our local theatre and there are a number of restaurants to choose from within close proximity,

Why, you’re a poet MissA😃

A nice pub lunch, sitting outside on a warm (not hot!) day.

A ploughman's lunch, even half a pint of bitter shandy, and sitting beneath trees, to enjoy the dappled light.

Allira Tue 03-Dec-24 10:51:26

downtoearth

All of the above, but during the day, I am not a night person

Yes, I'd rather go out to lunch nowadays 🙂

Perhaps on a warm summer's evening, a meal outside at a local pub with a view, but otherwise, I'd rather not go out in the chilly winter evenings.

JackyB 😃wine
That reminds me of my Dad who used to be a fan of Dean Martin, ‘Little Old wine drinker me’ he used to sing it around our house ( Dad, not Dean)😁

A glass of red wine, in a cosy venue with some live musjc, preferably where I know the musicians personally.

Not a meal out (I don't enjoy eating)

It’s common for older people, especially those who live alone to stop wanting to go out in the evenings, Mum in her 80’s has to be prised out by us but when we get to wherever we’re going she has a really enjoyable time.I also think that many won’t go out if it’s dark or drive, it’s understandable.
I agree FriedGreenTomatoes that family and friends are so important for our well being and that if they don’t like being out at night then a daytime treat can be arranged. It’s more difficult for those of us still working of course.

Mollygo Tue 03-Dec-24 10:37:54

Meal at our favourite tapas restaurant, then something, usually comedy at the local theatre.
We used to do it the other way round, but eating late doesn’t suit me anymore.

Kim19 Tue 03-Dec-24 10:37:06

Any occasion with family or friends over some sort of meal is a delight but finished off with a theatrical musical would totally ice my cake. Wonderful......

LaCrepescule Tue 03-Dec-24 10:25:17

Well, if I have to go out, it’s usually a film at our lovely independent cinema (walking distance) with friends or an early meal.
I much prefer doing things during the day now so I can be home in the evenings.
To think I was going to raves till well into my forties!
