Well survived the night with just one cup of tea. Very windy still, but too dark to see anything outside as yet.
Found out today, can't take it in
Well, that was a farce.........
extremely dangerous weather. List copied from GBnews website
In Wales, the warning covers Bridgend, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, and Vale of Glamorgan.
Whilst in England, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Devon, North Somerset, Somerset, and South Gloucestershire have been placed under the red alert.
I watch weather modelling and all the ducks are in a row for a horrendous weather episode. I have been battening down and making ballast all week. I am in amber not red and have moved all potential flying objects out of my garden
Please don`t drive

we are experiencing very violent gusts now, north devon coast must be absolutely terrible
We had the message in north Bristol at 1900 last night at the beginning of a Youth Carol concert. There was a series of siren sounds, but depending on where the audience lived, there was the occasional one throughout the evening. Some of the children thought it was going to be Armageddon and became slightly hysterical.
According to XCWeather, it has all already mostly died down; only a yellow warning now.
I closed all the house vents last night and had a decent sleep, it is certainly building up now and pressure has dropped very low, where it will stay all day. The winds and rain will be sustained for a long time, won`t really let up until sunday afternoon

Type in your postcode for predicted wind speeds
No buses are running in the county today and there will be a lot of flooding
Flask is filled, breakfast is cooking. There was a short power cut last night

Can’t sleep. Everything creaking and the wind is howling. Next door’s security lights Just going to have a cup of tea.and wait it out .are coming on and off , lighting up the trees.
Make a flask of hot water in case you lose your power…
It’s not too bad here in south Glos, just a bit blowy and rainy at the moment, I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻

We live on the Lancashire coast and our flat faces the Irish Sea. I'm hoping that we don't get the full force of it here either but it seems to be South Wales and the southwest that seem to be getting it. I hope anyone here will be safe. Take care everyone. xx
Wow that government warning sure made me jump out of my chair
.
Only a yellow warning here in south
Devon, but that's bad enough. I'll stay in this weekend.
I hope nobody gets hurt or has a damaged home. Good luck all.

Goodness that government warning is loud! Our seafront is closed, flood fates in position, all local events cancelled as we’re in the red zone. Pouring with rain at the moment, current wind speeds are high but not unusual here. River flood warnings in place. Nothing tidal yet. We’re as prepared for whatever comes as we can be, 🤞 we keep our power supply as friends arriving on Sunday for five days and tomorrow was a baking day.
Good luck everyone, stay safe.
Hold onto your hats!🎩💨

Oh hell. My phone just buzzed loud with a government warning. My area is red
Scary
Both me and DH had one earlier.
Nearly had a heart attack - it's really loud!!
Allira Last year I watched some videos of people in the NE standing on piers and jettys (with children!!!) getting soaked by high waves during storms. Some policemen and firemen had to go out and get them, hiding behind stone seats during waves, and bring them back one by one. Some people are too stupid to know how stupid they are.

On the subject of red or amber weather warnings why do TV news programmes insist on subjecting their reporters to these conditions?
I am just as prepared to accept the veracity of the reporter in the studio so why do they have to stand out in the wind and rain, against a backdrop of waves crashing behind them, getting soaked to the skin?
They don't make the forecasters at the end of the news stand outside, so let's stop this unnecessary suffering! ☔☔☔☔☔
We ask that every time.
Stupidity.
I hope the RNLI don't get called out to people swept into the sea because they thought it might be exciting to watch the waves.

Well, DH got the loud signal and a government warning on his phone.
We live in the same house, my phone was about 2 ft away from his. I didn't get a warning so I should be ok to go tomorrow after all.

As Carmarthenshire we are bang in the middle of the red warning. Near the sea and surrounded by trees. Hey ho. Wish us luck.

We've only got yellow warnings here but last night was very windy. Our neighbours spent last weekend blowing up some huge Father Christmas figures to stand in her garden and this morning they were all the way down the street, along with some reindeer and some strings of lights.
This made me laugh,, but surely they heard the weather warnings
Who knows? And to be honest I don't know if there were any weather warnings last weekend.
When we were driving home this afternoon we noticed loads of them, far more than I've ever noticed before, so it could be carnage overnight, bits of Father Christmas's all over the streets.
Maybe blow up doll things are in this Christmas 🫣

Bad weather not bad water
Hoping this bout of bad weather won’t result in too much damage or danger to life. We are on the south eastern seaboard so expecting less in the way of bad water. Travelling down to Brighton tomorrow, will check the weather before we leave and postpone if it looks terrible.
Take care those of you living in areas with a red or amber warning.
