Somehow this really cheered me up when I spotted it.
Well done those ladies! “Granny squares” have never been so invaluable
A GROUP of “knitting nanas” from Teesside have sent a handmade blanket to Africa to help a baby rhino recover after it was attacked by hyenas
Residents of Hazelgrove Court Care Home in the Victorian seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorks, worked together on the multicoloured quilt for three-week-old Hercules
The rhinoceros was rescued by an animal sanctuary in South Africa after it suffered fractures, crush injuries and infected wounds in an attack by hyenas
Aided by the warmth provided by the blanket, Hercules is expected to make a full recovery.
The group spent several months producing a number of blankets for the charity Blankets for Baby Rhinos

Not just the baby rhino - it gave me a warm feeling too!

OMG that's such a beautiful thing they did for gorgeous Hercules!

I'm so happy he's going to be making a good recovery!

Poor wee mite! How good for everyone concerned . For once it's hyenas that were the culprits and not humans.

Just when you think all is doom and gloom, including the weather, up pops this heart-warming post. Just lovely!

Rosie is VERY offended! grin
And she's a greyhound not a whippet!

That is a gorgeous photo and I really hope the little animal makes a full recovery. But for a rhino to be attacked by hyenas, however distressing, is natural. It's when humans attack and kill animals for so-called sport that my blood boils!

What a lovely story.....that hippo is so cute!
Well done ladies!! tchsmile

DanniRae Sat 07-Dec-24 14:24:25

Sorry blush the darling animal is a rhino!!

AuntieE Sat 07-Dec-24 14:48:12

What a lovely post.

Unlike Rosie, I laughed at the zoological muddle, calling her a whippet, and the patient a hippo!

Thank you :-) Always nice to be cheered up.

Haha, sorry about that Rosie, I just remembered you were a thin dog from previous pics and breeds of dog not my strong point.🤭
The blanket looks cosy, wouldn’t mind one of those myself.
