Blood tests results: Haemoglobin high

Do you know what your usual haemo is? Perhaps this is your normal level. Do you take iron tablets?

My haemo has been vv low caused by blood cancer but is now 2 years after chemo about 154 which my consultant is very pleased with.
Try not to worry. And look forward to another test.

PS. Can you look at the results? If yes what were the platelets and red blood cells like?

I might seem over worrying but I had bowel cancer last year and the first alert I had was a slight variation from the norm in blood tests.

I have looked back in my record for over the last two years and strangely enough the haemo was not there. I have looked at the platelets and red blood cells results from last week and they are: platelets 185 (the norm being 150-410 and red blood cells 4,73 (the norm being 3.80-4,80). Any thoughts? I really appreciate your taking the time.

They look in the "normal" range. I have no knowledge... just relating to my own experience.
While you are waiting for the next test you could ring or email the British Heart Foundation helpline. I have found them helpful with questions about DH heart problems.

Funnily enough my sister has just started taking Amlopodine this week for a blood clot problem. It would be great for you if a gran with medical knwledge could answer your question.
Problems always are more worrying at the weekend when there's no-one to ask. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the next blood test.

At our surgery they call us for yearly blood tests if we are on BP meds. I had mine in September. Fortunately all ok.

I've just started on amlodopine and the surgery has already scheduled me for a blood test in a months time. This will be my fifth one in six months. Having had a really helpful chat with the pharmacist he told me to read any test results with caution because as we age, expected norms can change eg one of my results would raise concern in a young person but not for someone in their mid 70s. Try not to worry.

You need to speak to your surgery as they should be giving you blood tests at least once a year.
