1. Those people who haven't checked their facts and so come up with some rather silly opinions
2. Those people who, despite the facts being presented, still come up with the aforementioned opinions.
I suppose that I am irritated by some of the posters on the N & P forum. Overall I find that the posters are usually kind and helpful on the other topics that I read.
I think my furbaby post could be called IRRELEVANT!
Ps that was a smile as well

It's a smile actually.

Grrrr to you too!!
Farzanah
Super long opening threads with complicated stories, usually about dysfunctional family members, by posters I’ve never seen before.
and what is worse is that these -screeds- long opening posts are written without paragraphs and, often without grammar or punctuation checks, making them not only unreadable but incomprehensible.

All of the above and OLD POSTS, OLD POSTS, OLD POSTS being replied to and then when several of us point it out THEY STILL KEEP REPLYING 😡
I personally find it very irritating when posters use a lot of CAPITAL letter to try & get their POINT ACROSS. 👉
I do realise that furbaby is part of some people's normal language and posters might tend to post as they speak.
However, it SETS MY TEETH ON EDGE 😂
lol 😂 nice one.

Posters who like to tell ‘the same old story’ in their answers whether it’s relevant or not! And posters who write an essay when a sentence would suffice!
I’m sure I’ve been guilty of both of these. Many times.
I was going to say that I get vaguely irritated by seeing the same old discussions about the same old things. Nannies - paid help/goats/grandmothers? etc. Then I realised it’s only an issue for those of us who’ve been here since Adam was a lad…
Those name-changing trolls sound a bit worrying. I didn’t realise that was happening again.

henetha the estrangement forums been plagued with them especially the support thread. But they can't win and that's what upsets them . But they keep trying saddo's the lot of them .
Whiff
Also the number of trolls recently and imposter posters who change a regular posters name with just one letter like a m instead of n or 7 instead of 2 and changing 0 to O.
I know exactly what you are saying.
Is cowardly and peevish not to mention immature.
😡

Why get annoyed with posters and their style of posting who in the main you do not know 🤷♀️
As someone has already pointed out, it is infuriating (to me as well) when someone replies with just the word ‘This’.
I don’t know why, but it really annoys me!
Aside from replies, the only thing that really irritates me, is very long posts with no paragraphs. I just can’t be bothered to wade through them.
Person B who jumps at Person A's throat with teeth bared, just because Person A doesn't hold Person B's idea of the "correct" viewpoint. It doesn't happen often on this site, probably because most of us are older and more experienced and thus we recognise that we don't all have to hold the same opinion or die. And Person B doesn't generally explain why her opinion is better (unless she falls back on "Well, it's OBVIOUS..."). That one really gets me. Happy Sunday, all.
I didn't know that happened, Whiff. How horrible.
The only thing that I don't like about posts is when people who we cannot possibly know properly get criticised unfairly. It's ok to have an opinion of course, but sometimes remarks can be unkind and just plain mean. I hate tearing people apart like this, it really bothers me.

IN FACT IT IS SO ANNOYING
THA T I HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO SPELL 🤭

furbaby 😟
I think that quoting from newspaper articles is valid - the OpEd journalists will have done their research before writing the article. Some of these articles will eventually find their way into the history books.
I post articles from the Guardian because I think that some GNers will find them amusing whilst others dont' get.
Words that I dislike - hubby, cuppa, grand kids
Typos - it's very to make mistakes when typing, unless you learned to touch type. I didn't and some letters are worn out.
For some reason I always type hte rather than the which is a nuisance because of the number of corrections that I have to make. I've corrected at least 10 in this piece alone.
Finally, I sometimes use bits of my personal history because I find that it helps me to explain myself.
Shelflife
I agree with most of what has been said , however............I have more to worry about than minor irritations on GN. posts! Although spelling errors do grate on me somewhat!
I’m sure we all have other things to worry about, but the OP was asking what irritates us, so we are replying
.
I agree that links to newspaper articles are not evidence, whichever paper they are in, but can understand people asking for evidence to back up what seem like unverified statements, if it matters whether they are true or not.
If I asked people to comment on how they were going to cope with the Martians who had landed overnight I would expect to be asked for proof that this had happened. If I said that my brother was ill because of eating out-of-date shrimps I would expect to be believed (although in this case it’s not true
). It’s about the context, isn’t it?
