Good morning everfrom Inverness where it’s still dark and only about 1°
So pleased that you’ve got your allotment karma, you sound really happy working there
I’ve a bit of shopping to do this morning and I’ll call into DD2s to help with a bit of tidying up after the weekend. DH is travelling back home today, it’ll be good to have him home
autumncolours a difficult task for you, just a bit at a time 💐
Hope all goes well today mizuna
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from south Glos, it’s a still and cold start to the week here.
Yesterday the dog and I had a very blustery walk in a bitterly cold north wind but it was good to be outside. We’ll be out again shortly.
The rest of Sunday was quiet, suits me nicely.
Nothing much happening this week, I will see what unfolds 😊
I hope the poorly ones are better very soon 🌹

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 09-Dec-24 07:46:59

Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.

Our cleaner is coming earlier than usual today. I will do the usual Waitrose shop, including some click and collect presents. Then I’m driving a friend to lunch with our Craft group. We are meeting at a massive garden centre/farm shop/pick your own.

OH and I took my food processor back yesterday and got a refund. I have ordered another smaller, cheaper one, which should be delivered this week.

My new printer and pc still have teething problems so we will try and sort them out later today.

Have a good day everyone.🌹

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s just getting light. It’s calm and dull out there today, so I hope to be able to get out for a short walk.
I finished writing my Christmas cards yesterday and ordered a few presents for the granddaughters. Knowing what to buy them is difficult as they have so many toys and games already. The 9 year old was easy though, she browsed a few websites with me and found some clothes she liked, so i ordered those for her.
ash I hope that the pain in your hip improves today and oops at least your toe will be comfortable in a slipper and that’s the main thing.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a quieter corner of Somerset. Wind is still strong and very cold.

Our friends drove here yesterday by a circuitous but most importantly safe route. A quiet morning at home today before a wander out after lunch. Tomorrow is a very early start and late finish as we’re all off on a coach trip. I’ll probably not make it in for the rest of the week. This hostessing lark is all encompassing, worth it though.

Careful on those stairs ash. That’s a definite ouchie oops as our not so Littlest would say. Don't worry what your feet look like, just be comfortable.

Good luck with the decluttering autumn. It does get easier. Before we moved our sons came and looked through their things, some some boxes going back to their babyhood. I was amazed at how ruthless they were and equally surprised at what mattered to them. We took photos of many things before letting them go. It helped, although I’ve not looked at them since it’s good to know I could.

Best start the day. Guests will need breakfast. My thoughts will be with you all. Have the best time you can everyone.

Good morning from a brightening W Kent. The cleaner should come this morning and a DF says she will be dropping in at some point. DH is off to go round Lidl for some bits and pieces he wants. I could do with a walk later if it isn’t too cold, it sets off the coughing
Best wishes

Morning all, it seems to be dry and no wind.

Off to the gym first thing and then straight to dentist for a check up.

I need to get a wriggle on with Christmas gift wrapping and sorting.

Pick up The Imp and 9yr old from school , they ate rather excellent about Christmas.

Have a good day everyone 🤶🏻🎄

Grandmabatty Mon 09-Dec-24 07:14:33

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1° and dry. Mizuna I hope all goes well. Ash good luck to you too.
Yesterday I was quite lazy after my late night, so little was achieved. I did go to Aldi then visited mum in the afternoon. She has no memory of her littlest great grandson which is sad. She was able to chat a little. Last night I made lentil soup in the slow cooker overnight.
Today is a childcare day but Dsil is dropping the boys off about eight. It'll be the usual school run then Tesco for their magazines. I'll pick up a double edition Radio Times as my treat to myself. Playgroup drop off too. Later Dsil will pick up dgs1 for football and dd will pick up dgs2. Have a good day all.

Good morning from Durham. A cold, but dry day forecast and still a bit breezy. I’ll pick up the blown over garden tubs and re-arrange the furniture later. At least nothing was damaged.
Of course, the weekend weather prevented the builders finishing my job. I’m not in a hurry, but I’ll text the Boss to ask the plan.
Coffee with a friend this morning, then the gas engineer between 12 and 5, with a new part to fit.
Autumn my New Year Resolution is to clear my loft, or at least get it sorted and in some sort of order.

Best wishes to all. X

Bonnybanko Mon 09-Dec-24 07:08:43

Good morning all from a dark but dry day here on the east coast of Fife.
The windy weather over the weekend blew my garden swing settee on it’s back but my lovely cleaner uprighted it again.
I’ve so much to do today, I’ll just have to get on with it.

Have a good day my friends and keep safe

Mizuna Mon 09-Dec-24 07:05:33

Good morning from a gloriously bracing, dark Cornwall where I'm on a bus to the hospital for a dental procedure. Or not, depending on how my impacted wisdom tooth root shows up on the x-ray. Either way I don't mind. I love these early starts, when the town is gradually waking up, lights are twinkling everywhere and the crows are, well, crowing. The bus journey takes an hour and is very scenic, even in the dark.

Yesterday, a fun time at my daughter-in-law's where we ate a lovely roast. She's such a close friend. Today I'll finish my Christmas shopping, as I want to spend the rest of the week rediscovering my much-neglected allotment.

BlueSapphire Mon 09-Dec-24 07:03:12

Good morning everyone from a still dark and damp Northampton, but at least it is not actually raining.

Unlike yesterday! It was dry when I went to catch the bus to town, but pouring when I came out of the cinema afterwards. I enjoyed the film - "Conclave" - very much. Lots of plotting, wheeling and dealing behind the scenes during the election of a new pope.

Yoga first thing this morning followed by coffee in the little cafe round the corner.
My gardener should be coming today to finish off tidying the garden for winter, so hoping it stays dry.

May wrap a few presents this afternoon, will see what I feel like.

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Bellasnana Mon 09-Dec-24 07:00:36

Good morning from Malta where it’s a similar day to yesterday, cool and cloudy with a chance of showers.

I didn’t go out yesterday, in fact I stayed in my pj’s all day which isn’t like me. This virus has wiped me out.

This morning I’m meeting a friend so my car will get a much needed run. It sits outside most of the time as I walk everywhere. I’m not ready to part with it even though I dread the tax and insurance which will be due next month.

Autumncolours well done for getting on with your sorting. I need to do the same but, as you say, it’s so difficult and time consuming to go through old memories and have to part with them. Good luck with the rest of it.

Oops, your poor toe sounds painful.😞

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

kittylester Mon 09-Dec-24 06:57:39

Good morning all. North Leicestershire is calm but chilly.

Complicated day ahead. DH is off to the gym and I am helping at a Memory Cafe Christmas party, the gardener is expected and we heard last night that Wolfie isn't well and might need to come here.

And, the house is strewn with Christmas decorations that I didn't quite have the energy to finish yesterday.

The Christmas tree which I now realise is starless.

Greyduster Mon 09-Dec-24 06:51:25

Hasten slowly, Ash.

grandMattie Mon 09-Dec-24 06:50:25

Autmn, re.decluttering. I’ve done it three times in the last 10 years. Look at everything, give your offspring (if you have any/it’s their stuff) a chance to decide. Then think hard - are you going to regret letting go, or not.
On the whole the more you let go, the easier it becomes.
Good luck ☘️☘️

grandMattie Mon 09-Dec-24 06:44:51

Good morning from Bristol.
I’m late, I’m late. I haven’t read any pos5byet.
I took an antihistamine last night for some sleep and have slept some 8 hours, apart from a brief interlude around 2. Unheard of!! Should set me up for the next, busy (again) week.
It wasn’t very nice yesterday, with a polar wind, gusting strongly. Church attendance was very low. Sadly the same was true of the Christingle service in the afternoon.m I think they were expecting some 100 people, only about 30 came, with the odd old fart like me. I took one of the many left-over oranges for my neighbour.
Tesco this morning and WI Christmas event this p. W3 wer3 to have shanty singers but ill health and bad driving conditions have caused them to cancel. Fun and games are promised, oh joy (not).
Have a good week and I hope the weather isn’t too dreadfwhere you are. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Ashcombe Mon 09-Dec-24 06:39:46

Good morning from a chilly but dry Torbay.

One of my kind neighbours brought back my washing, beautifully folded and clean, yesterday and took out my rubbish and recycling. It was too cold for me to venture out and I’m not sure about managing the five steps outside yet. Later, I’ll try the indoor stairs to see what my hip can do.

Have a good week, everyone, and thank you for all the supportive comments and messages 🦩🥰🎄💐🦩

Good morning from a dry but chilly Black Country.

Up very early, and have been chopping veg and simmering the chicken carcass ready to make soup. It usually lasts us for lunches until Thursday.

Meeting DGD2 from her coach at 8.15, going for coffee and a bite to eat. Her first class doesn't start until 1pm! She is bringing cards etc for DS's family, as I am meeting him in his lunch break in Wolverhampton later.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning. Damp and still here in Yorkshire. A relief after all the wind over the weekend. Thinking of all the Gransnetters who have been affected by the terrible weather. Started decluttering a lifetime of memories and junk from the loft yesterday. Got 17 large boxes of random stuff down. Still as many up there. Very poignant sorting through - I’m too sentimental and have already shed a tear or two just emptying one box! We had a mouse infestation up there earlier this year so lots of things are ruined or smelly and it needs doing. If it were just mine it would be easier to bin the lot without looking at it but it isn’t and I can’t really throw other people’s memories away. Onwards and upwards. I will look at the thread on here for advice. On a cheerful note, my new wardrobe is being delivered today. 😀 Have a good day and take care everyone.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 09-Dec-24 06:25:59

Good morning, too dark to see what the weather is doing but I can’t hear the wind, hopefully today will be calm.
I need to get the housework done today, bed changing and a bit of ironing to do, let’s hope I can achieve those small things without falling over.
My toe still hasn’t healed but as we are out tomorrow and Wednesday, I’ll have to wait to ring the surgery until Thursday. I can see that I will have to wear one shoe and one slipper to the hospital tomorrow, as the dressing on my toe is too big to fit into a shoe, what a sight I will look.
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day, my thoughts are with those who are having a tough time at the moment.

Greyduster Mon 09-Dec-24 06:21:30

How I envy you a day like that, Karma.

Greyduster Mon 09-Dec-24 06:17:38

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where, after the weekend’s meteorological roughhousing, all is calm, if not exactly bright! DD and the menfolk came and enjoyed the curry I had made - not a scrap remained - and then put my Christmas tree up for me. I shall finished decorating it later and put out the rest of the seasonal paraphernalia. Not sure what else I’ll be doing today - it’s going to be wet.
Have the best day you can folks.

karmalady Mon 09-Dec-24 06:15:34

Good morning from s somerset, weather will be somewhat calmer but dull

I had some lovely gentle hours on my plot yesterday, just cleaning up soil, making a path and planting a few shrubs and thinking about what to put where. I met two people and we had nice little chats. Out at 9 and back at 2. The sun came out,I was leeward from the wind, sheltered and living in the moment

This morning could be another trip to the plot. I have gone off sewing and knitting for now. The outdoors is calling me before the winter freeze and the small friendly robin might be there, he was looking me in the eye and was so close

Have a good day
