Think I maybe one that belongs in this group ⦠I love my TV believe itās a consequence of living alone and not being fully mobile so do spend a significant amount of time indoors.
Am not a knitter or crocheting person although my mother was..am also not a baker or pastry personā¦but mother was an exceptional in kitchen dishes. Not a homemaker also .. how did these genes pass/not pass on? Always loved using manual typewriter at school and college!
Maybe Iām a press the button person - TV on instead of radio now so not always sitting and viewing but TV on EVERY DAY so must be addicted? Anyone else š

How do you define 'trash', LaCrepescule?
I love a bit of trashā TVā
I also love documentaries, particularly David Attenborough
I know I watch far too much TV but Care not a jot..š¤
I have never been a tv watcher, at any age. If I was on my own I would not bother to own one. I would much rather read a book.
I live alone, but find tv on during the day very depressing, as if my life has come to an end. Exceptions being royal weddings, funerals etc. I hate going to someoneās house and it is left on as if itās something we cannot do without.
It means I really enjoy it in the evening and look forward to it.
You're only any kind of 'holic if it's harming you or anyone else. If it's not, then just enjoy it.
How do you define 'trash', LaCrepescule?
I live alone and rarely go out in the evenings and turn the TV on at around 6pm. If Iām watching a good series I can easily binge 3 episodes or so and canāt help feeling a bit guilty. But I donāt watch trash and am currently watching Dopesick on iPlayer which is about the Sackler family and the criminal promotion of OxyContin as a non-addictive drug.
During the day I rarely switch on and get out or read (and spend far too much time on my phone!) But I can totally understand those who are less mobile and find itās a distraction.
Not that much worth watching these days but when and if I do find something I tend to binge watch. I always do other things at the same time, knitting, embroidery, sometimes even reading if it is easy to watch. I canāt just sit there and do nothing, too much of a fidget.
I used to watch a lot of tv but the past few years I have completely lost interest. I used to watch all the soaps and had to watch tv every evening. Now I will choose a documentary or real life programme maybe once a week but I get bored easily with tv now. Hubby is the opposite he will watch tv morning noon and night. I like to read but need quiet time to do this so no tv for me.
We watch TV for an hour in the afternoons. Over the last year weāve watched all episodes of Heartbeat, All Creatures and currently Poldark.
Then it doesnāt go on again until about 8pm when we watch something which is new to us such as Shetland.
At the weekend my DH watches a football match late afternoon while I play word games on my iPad.

We watch tv every evening but never put it on until the evening news at about 6 pm.
That sounds just like us also.
We watch the main news and local news together, then DH stays watching in the sitting room, I depart to my little snug with little tv also, and we both watch whatever we each want to, as we have different tastes.
Works for us.
I enjoy watching TV too, natural history, crime dramas and unashamedly some soaps. Mainly Emmerdale, Corrie, Enders.
When Iām sitting and knitting in the afternoon (which is often!) and canāt cope with anything I need to concentrate on, or Iām going to go wrong and curse a lot, my go-to watch (unless there a Repair Shop) is Police Interceptors. š

I never was but itās great for the winter months. Iāve enjoyed a lot on iPlayer especially.
I agree, and if Iām not working an evening or night shift then I really enjoy my tv evening with all the recorded programmes to watch or Netflix.
Yup!! Day and night!
It varies for me. I like to watch in bed until I'm tired enough to go to sleep, but otherwise it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm working, or pottering in the house I tend to listen to music, but if I've finished work, done the chores and am sitting down to knit or whatever, I will put the TV on and watch a series of some kind (I can't sit still and 'just' knit - I need to have both brain and muscles working - probable ADD).
In the evenings, I relax with a soap first, and News-type programmes such as Question Time, or Peston. I prefer to binge drama, so if they are released an episode at a time I often record them and watch it all. I do scan the listings, though, and if there is something worth watching I will either see it live, record it or make mental note to catch it on iPlayer or whatever. Tonight I will watch the Alan Bennett programme, and maybe record The History Boys to watch for the hundredth time
.
I'm not addicted in the sense of having it on all the time, but I would miss it if it broke. I think having so much choice of what to watch means there is always something, unlike when there were two or three channels and as often as not there was nothing you wanted to see. I never used to put it on and then look to see what to watch (ie I would only put it on if I knew I wanted to see something) but I do nowadays.
I like my radio, which I have on at work whenever possible. I do like the TV on in the evenings as it breaks up the silence now I'm widowed. There's not much I actually watch though. I can understand anyone living alone, especially someone less mobile like the OP, having the TV on all day.

I am a Teleholic as well. Itās on all the time. I live alone too. I donāt knit, crochet or have any hobby. If itās not Sky, itās Netflix. or YouTube.
Sky keep sending me emailsābegging for me to come back to themā have NOW Tv and Prime which is cheaper but do miss Netflix
Yay to all Teleholics.. I also suffer with insomnia and have the Tv on mute with subtitles as cannot sleep thru the night and regularly awake between 3and 5am .. very frustrating š“
There are so many good programmes and, with catchup I never seem to find the time to watch everything. As a night owl Iāve been watching Winter Walks in the early hours. Earlier on there was a programme on BBC4 about great photographers which I missed the first part of so I must watch the whole programme. I donāt turn the tv on in the morning. Tend to listen more to podcasts. I listen to Must Watch on Mondays which discusses all the current programmes so I can watch things and then listen to other people discussing them.I was only trying to remember the other day what it was like with only two channels and no catchup. I canāt quite get my head round how quiet life must have been. I love my telly!

I canāt just watch tv. I have to be doing something productive at the same time; currently Iām knitting a jumper for aforementioned GS.
Dh has hearing loss and the very thought of making myself heard above background tv makes me feel faint! Radio as background noise doesnāt seem so intrusive, oddly. We leave R4 on for our cats sometimes.
I didn't have a TV for some 30 years and failed to recognise a few retired actors who live nearby, but now I'm a complete telly addict .
I love Sky and those art programmes and I rewatch them .
Otherwise , I'm an old film addict .
I love films anyway .
I enjoy historical documentaries-they lead to research .
Quite like a quiz - if it's not gimmicky .
Murder mysteries capture my imagination .
Classical music ,jazz and blues are favourites as well .
There's always something which absorbs me .
We have it on in the bedroom and kitchen first thing for the news and sometimes it gets left on but I try to turn the bedroom one off when I go down and the kitchen one when Breakfast has finished. It goes back on for the 6 o'clock news.
I love my TV. It's such good company for those living alone. I do set boundaries though and never switch it in until 2 pm. I don't want my entire day dominated by it. Nevertheless it is of huge comfort to me. The presenters become like old friends, especially on BBC. I've got Freesat and Netflix, so plenty of choice. I'm never lost for anything to see.
I don't watch it as much as I used to, and sometimes difficult to find anything on I want to see. We have it on for the news from about 6 to 7am then it goes off until around 7pm. I usually watch recordings until 9/10pm and then it goes off.
My OH watches via his laptop during the afternoons and then goes upstairs in the evening to watch in his bedroom. He's much more of a "square eye" than me lol.
