I never was but it’s great for the winter months. I’ve enjoyed a lot on iPlayer especially.

I live on my own and TV is pretty important to me. I watch most of BBC Breakfast, and the news on and off all day. I like documentaries and non-fiction programmes (no soaps!). During the day there are far too many cookery and property programmes, which is why I watch so much news. I watch the property programmes like Escape to the Country sometimes, but cookery programmes never.

We watch less and less television.Every week DH or I go through the Radio Times and circle anything of interest. It is not unusual to have a few days with no circles.

I love the tv and I think it can be great company! I watch an hour or two most evenings and sometimes an hour in the afternoon if I’m doing something quiet and there’s a programme I want to watch. I usually watch less in the summer. I find it very relaxing and if I’ve had little sleep the night before, for whatever reason, it’s the one thing that lets me just have five minutes nap! I wouldn’t be without it but I don’t just put it on as background noise. (I might if I lived alone though).

We watch tv every evening but never put it on until the evening news at about 6 pm.

Greyduster Fri 13-Dec-24 17:44:52

I never put it on in the morning and rarely in the afternoon, but I’m sad to say that I do have my iPad on the table at teatime watching stuff while I’m eating - something I always told DH off for. It now takes the place of meal time conversation. I have the big set on in the evening for a film or a series I’m catching up on.

My husband is switches sky news on the moment he gets up and just leaves it on
Drives me potty listening to the same old same old just repeating If switched of when out of room it gets switched on when he returns
My idea of luxury is silence

In the dark months I like Countdown and Tipping Point (replaced now by Deal or No Deal, which I don’t like) if I’m at home. TP was always DH’s prompt for a tin of soup as a hot drink, while it’d be a cup of tea and a caramel after for me.

I’m a bit of an insomniac, so tv keeps me company in the small hours.

I am a Teleholic as well. It’s on all the time. I live alone too. I don’t knit, crochet or have any hobby. If it’s not Sky, it’s Netflix. or YouTube.

Yes, I'd say we both are TBH. Even if we're not actually watching we tend to have it on in the back ground during the day.

There's so much to watch and we do have a tendency to binge watch any series we get into.

gulligranny Fri 13-Dec-24 17:19:51

Don't watch in the mornings, probably switch on around 3 for Escape to the Country and a cup of tea with DH, then it's off again until 7.30-ish until we toddle off to bed - which is getting earlier and earlier as we like to factor in a minimum of an hour's reading time before we fall asleep.

But certainly wouldn't criticise, Bea65, you do what gets you through. I agree with you about the manual typewriter, too, BTW!

We have ours on for background noise all day. DH is a real sports enthusiast, so there always seems to be some game on, with the volume down. We do watch it in the evenings.

Aveline Fri 13-Dec-24 17:12:12

No TV in the morning for me. From 3pm onwards if I'm home though.

SueDonim Fri 13-Dec-24 16:48:55

I’m sitting here trying to persuade my 3yo GS he doesnt’t want to watch tv! grin

We rarely watch tv although this week we began The Box of Delights which was mentioned on another thread. I’m sure I’d watch more if I was on my own, though. flowers

NotAGran55 Fri 13-Dec-24 16:45:33

I’m the complete opposite and literally never switch the set on. DH puts it on for the news whilst eating breakfast before going to work. I switch it off when leaves around 7 o’clock, and it stays off all day if I’m in until he returns. It’s on for a couple of hours in the evening from the news, and I watch bits on the iPad in bed if I can’t sleep.

When I’m on my own I listen to music, audiobooks and the radio.

You are not alone. I'm one too! Lovely 📺

tanith Fri 13-Dec-24 16:40:54

I feel I watch too much but in the Winter its hard to occupy oneself on dark miserable days. I walk and read but most days I'll watch tv in the evening. I'm not addicted absolutely not! 😉

Bea65 Fri 13-Dec-24 16:34:09

Think I maybe one that belongs in this group … I love my TV believe it’s a consequence of living alone and not being fully mobile so do spend a significant amount of time indoors.
Am not a knitter or crocheting person although my mother was..am also not a baker or pastry person…but mother was an exceptional in kitchen dishes. Not a homemaker also .. how did these genes pass/not pass on? Always loved using manual typewriter at school and college!
Maybe I’m a press the button person - TV on instead of radio now so not always sitting and viewing but TV on EVERY DAY so must be addicted? Anyone else 🙅🏻‍♀️
