Good morning. I am having my coffee, practising for my (tiny) part in Church tomorrow. Various people will be raring next weekend from “all airts and pairts” so the cookery book is out to try and meet the dietary needs/wishes. I am prioritising the needs.
Try and fit in some relaxation when you can and sending supportive wishes.

Very happy birthday wishes baubles. Enjoy every minute. 🎂🥂🎈

glammagran Sat 14-Dec-24 10:18:09

A watery sun has appeared this morning but it won’t last.

Pantglas I use this recipe. I have to omit mussels and squid as DH wont eat them. Lots of ingredients which I have lined up in order before cooking. www.allrecipes.com/recipe/12728/paella-i/

R&L I love your blanket such beautiful colours. I cannot imagine how long it must have taken you to complete. DD2 has taken up crochet recently as she finds it therapeutic. I’ve never done so.

Glad your pain has lessened Ash. GM you seem almost as busy as *Karmalady”. You are probably overdoing things.

Have a good day everyone.

Blossoming Sat 14-Dec-24 10:10:50

Good morning from cloudy Lancashire. Slept badly, nothing planned for today other than snoozing. Today is my late mother’s birthday 🌹

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 14-Dec-24 09:51:25

A late good morning from me, I woke up at 1.35am and thought it was morning!

I must post the Christmas cards today.

My head is clearing earlier each day so that by 11 ish I’m usually much better, I have to be careful not to move too quickly but progress is being made. I already feel better today and it’s not 10 o’clock yet!

GM if it was Mike telling us he fainted we would advise resting and then seeing his GP, my advice to you is the same! Please take care, stay indoors in the warm, with your feet up?

MD so sorry about your appointment 💐 it sounds as though MrMD needs one of those tags where you can track him… we have trackers on our phones for each other, the ACs and our GS, GD refuses to do it, unless she goes abroad.

Baubles have a lovely birthday 💐🎁🎉🎂

Have a good day everyone, hope all the poorlies have a restful day, it would be good to get some sunshine, fingers crossed.

I’m late on parade! Good morning all from a sunny south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 4°C at present and will be 7°C later. We’ve had ten hours of sleep! Oh well.

I’ve offered to have L’il Miss over late morning as her full time working mum has a lot to get on with today. Greggs will feature for lunch after a visit to the library and a mooch in the shops! We won’t be buying anything as FC will be here very soon. 😁

Right, second mug of tea has been brought to me in bed so I’ll read the 42 posts up before me. Hope Saturday is good to us all. I feel very happy and blessed this morning as Himself is doing and looks so well.

monk08 Sat 14-Dec-24 09:24:14

Good morning all from the Black country where the sun is shining long may it last.
Happy birthday baubles 🎉.
We should have been going to friends this evening but they have both gone down with norovirus a present from the grandchildren 😃, so will go over to the club for a few hours.
grandMattie do take care.
Ash glad your pain is a little easier and Mizuna good to hear your trapped nerve released itself.
Usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later, enjoy your day whatever your plans ☀️

luluaugust Sat 14-Dec-24 09:19:43

MD so sorry to read of your distressing appointment flowers

Stilllearning Sat 14-Dec-24 09:10:56

Happy Birthday baubles, have a good day all!

Gingster Sat 14-Dec-24 09:01:50

Good morning all and it looks brighter here in Essex.

Sorry to hear your DGD is still suffering Sar . Hopefully the hospital will come up with more suitable meds.🙏.
GM take is easy for a few days.
Jax that snowflake is so beautiful. Very intricate.
Rosesandlilac you’ve spurred me on to pick up my crochetting again. I’ve had a hiatus from it and feel ready to continue with the blanket I started months ago. Yours is really lovely.

I’ll shop soon and Dh will go to footie this afternoon with Ds1.
Yesterday he (Dh) went shopping in town and walked back but was exhausted when he got home. His legs were giving out and he stumbled through the door. I must (try) to make him use the exercise bike to strengthen them . He doesn’t help himself. He used to be a great sportsman and I feel sad he’s like this now. Only 75 !! Not old old!!!!.

I hope all poorlies, sleep deprived, worried and just generally fed up , all feel a bit better today. 🌟

Susan56 Sat 14-Dec-24 08:52:54

Good morning from Shropshire where sunny intervals are forecast.

Sar I hope your granddaughter gets an appointment very soon.

I had a lovely meal out with my friend yesterday.Good food and good company.

A quiet day today🤞🏻then tonight we are going to watch DGD dance in the pantomime.Afterwards she has requested McDonalds.DD said I don’t think so to which DGD said I am a dancer and I need protein! Not sure how much protein she will get but McDonalds it is!

Sorry to hear so many had sleepless nights and are unwell but good to hear of improvement in others.I am another who thinks a day of rest is in order grandMattie.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🎅🏼🎄

Beechnut Sat 14-Dec-24 08:51:03

Good morning everyone. It’s sunny here on Severnside.

I’m going to a Christmas market today and garden centre.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday baubles 🎂🎉

Marydoll Sat 14-Dec-24 08:37:54

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1°C. This cold weather is relentless. At least it is dry!

Baubles, I hope you have a lovely day. 🎂🎁🎉

GM, you need to rest, listen to your body, you are not invincible. 💐

The idea of a Christmas Market, sounds so tempting Liberty, enjoy!

My hospital appointment yesterday went beynd my lowest expectations. Nothing more to be done for the constant pain, multitude of mouth ulcers and hip problems. There are no options left.
I then discovered that my respiratory appointment which should have been made a year ago, was only made a few months ago. The icing on the cake.
It is a horrible feeling, to realise that you have been written off.

The case of the husband, who went missing...... twice.
On arriving at the supermarket, I sent DH for a trolley, while I waited inside, due to the bitter cold.
On spotting a few bargains, I started collecting them in my arms, until Mr MD came back. Ten minutes later, he still hadn't come back. Feeling a little uneasy, I put everything back and hobbled out to look for him.
Given the despair I felt after my useless hospital appointment, I may have been a little tetchy.
He was nowhere to be seen. Visions of him lying somewhere flashed through my mind. I then caught a fleeting glimpse of him, then he disappeared again in this huge car park. This went on for ages until he eventually appeared saying: There were no trolleys.
It was bizarre, this was a huge Morrison's superstore, where there are always dozens of trolleys, in multiple areas.

Later at the very busy checkout, we had a repeat performance, he muttered something and disappeared down an aisle. The problem was that, the operator had already started putting items through.
Somehow, he had got muddled (quelle surprise) and had mixed up the beer he wanted. His excuse was that they all had red labels.
I got into a such a pickle, trying to unload the trolley and pack, as the items piled up and the mutterings in the queue got louder.
It did not end there, it just got worse. However, but I have bored you long enough. I just needed to unload! 😉

Have a pleasant Saturday, whatever your plans.

GrannySomerset Sat 14-Dec-24 08:33:03

DS is paying his pre-Christmas visit so must get organised to feed him, having first wrapped the gifts he is taking away for onward delivery. Rehearsal for carol service first so am up and about unusually early for me and am hoping the temperature will rise as the day goes on because it feels very cold.

Lovely star, Jax - clever DGD. Sorry to read of faints and painful nights and hope today brings some relief. Could one or two of you be overdoing it?

Kalu Sat 14-Dec-24 08:32:48

Good morning all. No idea of today’s weather but I think we may have some rain.

I took my first dose of Amitriptyline at 8pm last night and was pain free until 8am this morning. What a game changer, allowing me a full nights sleep. The only downside though is feeling spaced out and not safe for me to drive which doesn’t bother me as there is nowhere I have to be before my head clears. Co-codamol and paracetamol will keep me pain free during the day.

Happy Birthday baubles and many happy returns of the day 🎂.
Like you, GM I also get warnings before I faint and know to lie down. Low BP is the cause in my case and changing doses of BP meds is required. Look after yourself and take it easy today.
Hoping those in the awake at 3am club have a better night’s sleep tonight. Sleep deprivation is horrible.
So pleased to hear your pain is subsiding Ash. A ‘step’ in the right direction.

Best wishes for a pleasant Saturday all.

NannyJan53 Sat 14-Dec-24 08:21:09

Good morning from a still dark and damp Black Country, where it obviously rained overnight.

No real plans today except for housework, and may pop into town as it is only a 12 minute walk.

gM I think rest is the order of the day today. Similar happened to me about 15 years ago. I remember getting up to go to the bathroom. The next thing I remember was trying to haul myself into bed. In the morning I saw that three balustrades on the landing were broken and had crashed downstairs! Such a lucky escape I spent the next day lying on the sofa. I was on my own at the time.

So sorry to hear about your friends husband BlueSapphire such a shock for everyone.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

luluaugust Sat 14-Dec-24 08:18:27

Good morning from the usual greyness of W Kent. Out this morning to buy the bits I forgot to order yesterday. Quiet weekend ahead but we seem to be hibernating at present.
gM couldn’t someone else clean the church you need a rest.
Ash glad you have some improvement with the pain.
Happy birthday Baubles
Best wishes to all

Harris27 Sat 14-Dec-24 08:16:42

Take it easy GM. Quiet day planned but will brave a store I like to visit a bit out of town and never too busy. Last minute purchases then leave work Thursday for Christmas. I have been dreaming about this time next year when I will retire excited but also a bit nervous as how I will cope with the change. You ladies keep me going with your travels and to do lists I’m sure I’ll be fine. It’ll be nice to see hubby for more than a few hours before bedtime. How this year has flown!

Llamas99 Sat 14-Dec-24 08:14:33

RosesandLilac, the more I look at your crochet the better I like it. Oh, why have I never learned to crochet!? The mixing of colors is so pretty

Liberty Sat 14-Dec-24 07:58:13

Good morning from a still dark but dry and chilly Suffolk. So sorry to read about those who are not feeling at their best and/or are exhausted with all they do for others.

Lovely photos of trees and decorations. When our children were small, we didn’t bring the tree into the house until Christmas Eve afternoon, although one had been bought from a local farmer and dug up,a few days earlier. The children then helped decorate it before tea sitting under it( when they were still small enough to do so) and then,we and 3 neighbouring families would take it in turns to host drinks etc whilst the children,9 in total, played together in the hope they would tire themselves out.

We still don’t bring the tree( now a 3ft high one in a pot which remains outside all year,in til the 24th.

Off to the Christmas farmers’ market in our nearest small town shortly and then I hope to wrap the rest of the presents, although still awaiting delivery of a couple.

Hope all find some peace and harmony today.

brook2704 Sat 14-Dec-24 07:56:42

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but looks dry and it’s milder than the last few days
A very Happy Birthday baubles enjoy your special day! 🎂❤️🥂
Sorry to hear about poorly DGC, Sar, Bellas and grandmabatty, hope things improve soon
A walk this morning and then I really must finish the housework and cleaning otherwise it’ll never get done. I’ll need to go food shopping too, think I’ll go first thing before it gets too busy.
Please look after yourself gMattie, you do so much for others, please take a rest
Sorry to hear about your friends husband Bluesapphire , so sad 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings

hollysteers Sat 14-Dec-24 07:34:39

Good morning Mick and all from a damp dark northwest coast.
Enjoyed yesterday, final art group meet up with exchange of homemade cards, a high standard this year, followed by the music club Christmas party hosted by fellow committee member. Lots of lovely food, coal fire and live music.

After a restless night, my old pianist friend is coming over by train and we will lunch in town. I’ll give him a present and he won’t stay overnight as don’t feel up to hostessing myself just yet after my op’ and was even one of the first to leave the party yesterday, usually unheard of.
Came home to find my bird table broken up. Fighting birds/squirrels I presume.. it was getting on rather.

Lovely photos today and thoughts to GM Mizuna Ash and all🌺

BlueSapphire Sat 14-Dec-24 07:34:09

Good morning everyone from a still dark but thankfully dry Northampton; yesterday was so cold and damp.
Another upsetting and sad WhatsApp during my dance classes - a friend's husband had a massive bleed on the brain during the night, and passed away a few hours later. What is it about this time of year? She has a large family who live locally, and they all managed to get there in time.

Will venture out to the shops this morning and get a few things, and will have a coffee while I'm out.
This afternoon will wrap presents for my oldest friend of over 50 years - we were teaching colleagues in the 1970s and were young married in our 20s then, now she's early 80s and I am rapidly approaching that milestone......

You should take it easy today, grandMattie, I think rest is prescribed.

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Dec-24 07:32:51

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and looks damp. GrandMattie are you prone to fainting? I'm another who thinks you should have a restful day. Baubles a very happy birthday to you. Ash I'm glad you had a better day yesterday. Sar I'm sorry to hear about your dgd. It must be very worrying.
Yesterday I had to hand in a sample to the health centre. Just as I drove away, the window cleaner appeared. I had no cash on me so I hurried to the health centre, then the hole in the wall for money then Aldi for bread and milk, all the time hoping the window cleaner was still in the area. Sadly, no luck so he'll get his Christmas tip in January. Dd popped in with dgs2 after playgroup for soup. He's got an upset tummy and only had a small bowl but it went right through him. I had a lazy afternoon apart from feeding the tumble dryer with more of dds stuff.
Today I will return to Aldi for a proper shop. Then housework and washing. Afterwards I intend to wrap presents and deliver the local cards. I made a Chinese style curry last night and have enough for tonight so dinner is taken care of. Have a good day all
