"Hello everyone,
I’ve been feeling lonely lately, and I know I can’t be the only one. I thought it might be nice to create a space where we can share, chat, and support each other. Whether you’re feeling down or just want a friendly chat, you’re welcome here."

‘Still alive in Twenty five’ - yay, Happy New Year everyone.
Taichinan I loved your midnight story. I had never heard of letting the old year out of the back door and new year in at the front! Did you invent it or is it a Thing? I shall do it!

Madeline45 I am so glad you managed to return to your own home as it always the best place to be as you can do what you want when you want. Lovely to hear that you are a singer. Music brings happiness to lots of us. Looks like you’re still having a rough time of things , I can only think of you and wish you well as I'm sure we all do.

Not been too well over Christmas and completely lost my appetite, but am feeling more like my old self now. So, what shall I eat now? Chocolates, cake, crisps, nuts, chicken sandwich. Ha ha I shall probably eat too much and be feel sick again!

henetha Wed 01-Jan-25 11:15:13

My great aunt Nellie used to do that, Indiebee. So it was a thing back then. Not sure about now.
After the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Year, I am hoping I don't sink again. January can be a difficult month for some of us. Good wishes to all who get the January blues.
Meanwhile it's wet and windy here so not much chance of a walk. But tomorrow is forecast sunny, luckily.
Best wishes everyone.

Gorgeous sunny day but cold. Enjoyed a lovely walk this morning taking in our two local lakes. Then a quick Aldi shop. Got lots of salmon steaks for the freezer at half price. Chocolate for the grandchildren for pence! Two stolen for just over a pound. Paid 3.49 before Christmas. Then after lunch a quick TK max shop. New coat and trainers. I've been on a roll today. Then another quick walk before a dine in. Soaps to watch tonight as watched the serial killers wife last night. Granddaughter tomorrow and grandsons on Monday. I think it is better for me now Christmas and NY are over.

This has turned into a lovely general chat and support group. Hope we can go on sharing. Loving the walks mentioned by several. So pleased that Madeleine is safely through the bathroom horror, that BA69 had a really rewarding post-Christmas break in her other thread, that people are having a Clear Out - which I must do- and ordinary life is returning. Off for a walk by the sea this afternoon. x

Good evening everyone I hope you’re all well. Has anyone done anything exciting? I certainly haven’t that’s for sure a bit of washing and cooking and a trip to look for a stair carpet. I haven’t painted the stairs yet but will definitely replace the carpet soon.It is one of those polypropylene ones that you can use bleach on and keep it clean hmmmmn. Not a happy bunny I have never hated a carpet so much. It shows every mark and I really struggle to keep it clean, back to wool for me. I should never have listened to others telling me how good it was. Lesson learned I won’t buy another. Has anyone ever listened to someone and wished they hadn’t? This could open a can of worms.🤣

polnan Sat 04-Jan-25 07:41:16

Truffle 43, I often think most of my life has been "listening to others" nor retired and advanced in years, and yes, lonely, trying to keep myself going, listening to you all here helps me enormously.... I am trying to "find myself" oh dear! LOL

thank you each and everyone for your support, even though you may not be aware how supportive and encouraging you are.

Happy morning to all out there! Frosty again but looks to be brightening up nicely. Planning on a good walk again. Just locally. We are very lucky to live 5 minutes from a fabulous park and lakes. We have got to know so many people just by walking regularly as they do too. It is nice to stop off along the way and chat. There are a lot of friendly people about.

Very chilly here today, chillier than average for south Devon.
I'm feeling sorry for rough sleepers in this weather. How do they survive such cold nights, I wonder.

Hellogirl1 Sat 04-Jan-25 15:52:45

I came out of hospital last night, been in since Boxing Day, but it wasn`t nice knowing that for the very first time I was coming back to an empty house, so ignore me, feeling sorry for myself.

polnan Sat 04-Jan-25 16:02:57

Hello Hellogirl1 you are o.k I often "feel sorry for myself" it is allowed.. here`s a hug for you!

love0c Sat 04-Jan-25 16:10:35

Hellogirl So sorry. Hope you feel better soon. I hope you can have your heating on, some nice lamps on and make you home feel cosy. I like the tv on too.

Indiebee Sat 04-Jan-25 16:17:39

Polnan and Hellogirl1 I am saying your names. Yes, it is allowed. Do hope you are ok Hellogirl1 after hospital?
Hugely impressed by LoveOc’s massive shop including new coat and trainers! Bought myself a lovely new jumper online before Xmas - I have No Need Of a New Jumper!
Now what about this stair carpet Truffle43?

Truffle43 Sat 04-Jan-25 17:17:24

Polnan and Hellogirl
Huge hugs from me . Well this stair carpet saga may last a while there are many to chooses from.. I have even considered getting a runner down the middle there are some beautiful ones about but will think on it after getting the stairs painted. It’s a cold one today but lovely just the same. To be honest I am happy when it is dry and love a bit of wind sad though it is I think wind washing😂 I will leave you all for now keep warm and don’t forget them that struggle there are lots of warm spaces to visit and friendly people there.

Taichinan Sat 04-Jan-25 18:42:32

Sorry Indiebee just popped back in and saw your comment about letting the old year out and letting the new year in. I didn't make it up - there are all sorts of traditions around Hogmanay. There's one about having your New Year brought in by a tall dark handsome man! I liked that one but if I waited for that 2025 would be 2026 and I'd still be waiting!!

Taichinan Sat 04-Jan-25 18:54:31

Hellogirl welcome home. I know only too well, as do many of us on here, that it's not pleasant coming back to a cold empty house when you're not feeling too great. Get that heating going and to hell with the coat, switch on the lamps and cosy down under a warm throw. Put some rubbish tv on and cry if that makes you feel better. We're all here for you x

Doodle Sun 05-Jan-25 23:23:23

Hellogirl I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you’ve been in hospital. You’ve had such a tough time recently. You must miss Lynne so much. Now being ill yourself it takes all the strength out of you. Will there be anyone to visit you and help with shopping or anything you need. Wishing you well x

madeleine45 Sun 05-Jan-25 23:37:35

roday has definitely been a stay in day!Snow lying and not melting at all so very cold out. some flooding and bridges unpassable . I have managed to do a bit of sorting things out , and some things back in the correct drawer or cupboard, which is nice now , that I can put my hands on something I need. Done quite a ot of recycling but somehow the mess looks just the same!! tomorrow was going to meet a friend but think that will have to be cancelled, but have a drs appt in the afternoon so hope I can get there without incident

whywhywhy Sun 05-Jan-25 23:54:12

I feel so lonely as the new year starts. My youngest son returned to his flat which he shares with his partner 100 miles away. I miss him so much. Me and hubby didn’t stay up on New Year’s Eve. Weather has been bad so I haven’t been out and tv been rubbish. I’m so down in the dumps. I do knit a lot but I’m missing my friends. They live quite a distance away and have been busy with their families. Hugs.

Truffle43 Mon 06-Jan-25 12:44:32

why why why
I feel it for you as I don’t see enough of mine. Can you set up a chat group with friends and maybe have an evening FaceTime or zoom chat. This way you can still see each other and have a good catch up.

Another cold frosty day here. Still lots of snow about but it is very crisp so fairly easy to walk on. Looked after grandchildren yesterday as a training day for them. Quieter day today. Heading out for the park and see what it is like down there. Hoping it is not too icy. I'm guessing a lot of people will have walked so the snow will be flattened and hard to walk on. i hate not being able to walk at a fast pace! thoughts to all feeling under the weather today and can hardly bear to think about anyone feeling cold due to lack of money. Stay safe and warm if you can today.
