Good evening everyone I hope your well. Today has been a quiet day and I have not done a lot. I did read some news article about Easter eggs on shelves in shops. Unbelievable was my first thought, but I was wrong they are for sale locally, I do think they should be banned until nearer the event. Enough of my moaning I’m here to chat. I went for a walk this afternoon and said hello to a few other dog walkers they can be a nice bunch of people. It’s funny but you learn the dogs name before the owners. I am home now as I hate being out and about in the dark.. I will stop rambling and wish you all a good evening.Take care.

I'm forever counting my blessings too, Polnan. Sometimes it helps. And I do a bit of Mindfullness every day, which is quite good I think. But still the moods can be quite dark, sometimes for no reason at all.

I don`t find it easy to chat here, but I read your thoughts and doings, and pray for you all, I pray for us all.. I try to practice Gratitude, said to help my mood lift ,, I blame the weather, it can`t answer back

I have a strange sense of humour and I do try to lighten my thoughts,,

Evening everyone. I hope Christmas went as well for you as it could. I was spending my first Christmas in 6 years with my son, dil and their little ones. Parts of it were lovely but others not so but think that is due to the fact I am feeling so down as January ( which brings a raft of birthdays and anniversaries for my late husband and late dad) approaches. Was delighted to get back to work today and even happier when a colleague asked me to cover her shift tomorrow. Being at work is my happy place as it keeps me busy and it's warm!

It would be great if we could keep this thread going. Feel I am just getting to know some of you.

Devine, I’ve not seen you post since your first post and hope you are alright. I want to say thank you to you though, for starting this thread as it has, I’m sure been of great comfort to many here.

Good evening all thought I would check in and see how you have been today. Myself well it started well ate a healthy breakfast walked about 2 miles. Prepared a stew for lunch then spoilt it all by guzzling chocolates. Why oh why do I do this🤣. Tonight ate a healthy chicken salad then followed it by scoffing butterscotch ice-cream and ate too much but oh it was delicious. I don’t normally buy lots of sweet stuff as I have no control but being Xmas my husband did. Just as well I have planned my get fit campaign to start Monday. Is anyone else a sucker for sweet things or is it just me being miss piggy 🐽

JPB Could you not organise your own meetup, or is it that people have not responded? Leave it until early New Year and maybe try again. Is there a cafe you like in another town with decent transport links because not everybody drives now?

I tried in my area of London recently but no replies as we are now 3 who meet.

I spent a pleasant day doing what and when I wanted, including a washing.

Taichinan, I have tried…..no one seems to live in Matlock,Bakewell,Ashbourne…I will keep trying!

Thank you Doodle…yes I have follow up appointments in the new year.Getting my BP to behave is not easy.It’s more difficult getting out and about in the Winter months.I love gardening but again ,not in the Winter.The Peak District is cold today.I can’t start driving again in a couple of weeks…that helps.Sending hugs Doodle.x

I wonder if we can keep the chat going over New Year. I remember feeling terrible on my first New Year’s Eve after bereavement despite lovely friends asking me to dinner. We opened their front door at midnight to listen to the bells peal out from the nearby ancient church and I could only just hold it together. There seemed a cavern of emptiness instead of a future. But that does slowly change, with such hard work as many are doing here day by day.
Having a cheerful coffee and contemplating what goes with cold duck! (Definitely the red wine!)

EilishN I’m so sorry. What a sad thing to happen to you. I hope you get to see your son and daughter soon. Being lonely is not nice. Do you still work or are you retired? If you’re not working try looking at jointing some clubs where you can meet people. Do you have any friends or siblings to talk to?
It’s been a hard time this Christmas for many. Apart from morning tears I spent a lovely day with older son and family, being with others who loved their dad/grandad helps me. I know they miss him too. Other sons today so that will be nice.

Eilish - it’s 1 a.m. and because I couldn’t sleep , I decided to check GN. and saw your post. I’ve been divorced for nearlyb20 years. My husband told me soon after Xmas that he was in love with someone else and was leaving me. It was a shock and I was heartbroken. I can assure you, it gets better. Once you get over the shock, you have think of the ensuing legal issues ie finance. So don’t fret over him. Just plan your future, because you do have one. Good luck

There we go, Christmas Day done and dusted. Boxing Day dawns! I’m going to get some washing on, plant a few bulbs and wash the downstairs windows after last weekend’s storm!

What a time for this to happen . Try to stay strong and hopefully this time next year you will all sorted and happy with your new life. Think about what your new life could be if you want it. There may be clubs and groups to:join. Pleasing yourself on what you do and when you never know you may just like it. Take care.

Glad to read of others methods of coping with loneliness today. My H recently announced that he wishes to end our marriage and my grown up son and daughter have stayed with him for now.
I am alone and desperately lonely. Spent most of the day wallowing in self pity and dreading tomorrow. Reading this thread has been comforting, thank you all

Managing to get though it. Very hard though. Pretending you're ok when you are anything but. The lovely young staff in the cafe this morning have no idea what they meant to me!. If you are on your own or feel atone, well, you are not.
