"Hello everyone,
I’ve been feeling lonely lately, and I know I can’t be the only one. I thought it might be nice to create a space where we can share, chat, and support each other. Whether you’re feeling down or just want a friendly chat, you’re welcome here."

oh Cabbie 21 I was o.k going out and about on my own when my dh died, just before covid.. then got together with some people from church , off and on as we were allowed... then got together with some of them after covid.. but I can still get out on my own..I have one small cafe here that I am happy to go there on my own.. but then I have a little car that can get me out,, and shopping.. yes, loveOc,, I shop two or three times a week as you say a reason to go out...

love0c Wed 29-Jan-25 13:28:56

Hello Cabbie21 sorry you didn't have anyone to go out with. I so hope my post didn't upset you? I often go out for a walk on my own. I always go to a shop for an item or two. it gives me a reason to go. I hope you did go out.

Cabbie21 Wed 29-Jan-25 09:25:28

I’m thinking I must go out somewhere today as it is not going to rain and maybe the sun will shine. Not sure where to go and I have nobody to go with. It feels more lonely going somewhere on my own than being at home. I only tend to go out when I have something specific to go to.

Happy Wednesday morning everyone! What a lovely sunny day out there. Fingers crossed it stays as I am meeting a friend for a walk and then a coffee. We do like to sit outside if we can. Somehow it makes the coffee taste better ha ha.

Good morning everyone, Monday,27th! just coming up to 8 a.m from "sunny" Swindon... if only,,,, storm clouds whizzing across the country it would seem. Where I am , it is not too bad for the wet stuff, but I so feel for those with flooding.

I wake oh, well really wake, like time to get up time, around 6.--6.30 7 .00 ish my low point of the day,, wondering if it is just the thoughts of the coming day, I perk up, got my coffee, seen to my cat,, what would I do without her! now trying to relax... clouds scudding across the sky,,, so glimpes of light sky..

Hi everyone. I'm having yet another no sleep night so thought I'd pop in and see how you are all doing.
Eowyn didn't have much affect here on the east coast of Scotland, although there's a tree down at the bottom of the field. The west coast took a battering though. And now there's another one battering Cornwall and the south coast. Scary stuff. Anyway I hope you are all well - and sleeping soundly!
See you tomorrow.

Thank you Taichinan, living in Matlock, Derbyshire, there doesn’t seem to be a meet up group….Perhaps I should start one..

Indiebee Fri 24-Jan-25 19:11:09

Taichinan and Scottish and Northern Irish GNs - how have you been in the storms? Just grey and ordinarily rainy and windy here on the southeast coast, nothing much. Hope you are ok.

polnan Thu 23-Jan-25 10:00:45

Indiebee, I occasionally hear a seagull over here (Swindon) I lived , well worked in Scarborough for a short time so I hear their sound

Indiebee Thu 23-Jan-25 09:32:08

Lovely photo loopyloo. Thanks!

Indiebee Thu 23-Jan-25 09:28:51

I am near the sea, so I shall know it’s Spring when the seagulls come back to wheel about shrieking in the sky and returning to the same chimney pots between which they made nests last year. They are territorial. The previous young ones come back too and the parents shoo them away to find their own. All amazingly noisy and active. I love them.

Hell Truffle and Loopyloo! I shall go light my candle and shut out the wind and rain...Truffle, thank you

Loopyloo, oh gosh, that is wonderful,, thankyou

Morning everyone.
So good to know I'm not alone.
Find the natural world helpful so am feeding the birds and might even feed the foxes. The local pet shop gave me some free raw mince for them!!

Truffle43 Thu 23-Jan-25 08:20:51

Polnan today with my eyes closed pretending there is sun out there I have been on a picnic in the park . I have a pink and blue blanket and I see children playing in the distance.

polnan Thu 23-Jan-25 08:14:37

smiling away here.. Good morning all!

Taichinan
How lovely that you teach your class. It must be so rewarding.I tried tai chi once the class was very welcoming but the building was in bad repair, and while I was in the middle of the lesson the roof was leaking right above my head and I kept getting drips of something horrid. Needless to say I didn’t go back although the building did get a refurb at a later date.
Beechnut
look them up they are gorgeous. I would be thrilled to bits to see one ooh maybe a day out for the future.

Truffle43 Wed 22-Jan-25 20:54:36

Hi everyone I have put you all to shame today. I used my walker and walked for about 2 hours and I felt so good afterwards. It has made such a difference as to how I feel In myself I came home with colour in my cheeks and feeling happy. It would be so good if every day was like this I know it can’t be but what’s wrong with dreaming. We should set up a challenge between us a very simple one like every day walk for 5 minutes outdoors, and see if we can get some people outside who struggle with any distance.anyone up for a challenge. Maybe to the end of the path and back.?

Beechnut Wed 22-Jan-25 14:48:32

I went to Tesco instead polnan. There is sunshine here.

polnan Wed 22-Jan-25 12:58:06

o.k. I have lain on my bed, my front bedroom gets lovely sunshine, so I put my imagination to work and there I was lying on a lovely warm, quiet, sandy beach, my cat came and lay on top of my legs! so now I am up and going to my local Morrisons... well it is somewhere to go and meet people..

I’m the same. Can’t get motivated to do anything but can’t relax and sit still either.

polnan Wed 22-Jan-25 12:14:44

Cabbie21, I am like that this morning, I blame the cold! usually I am anxious to get out, we had fog come quite thick, so I had an excuse, now it is lifting and I still don`t want to go out,, I guess I will soon, yes, I am online too much this am.

Cabbie21 Wed 22-Jan-25 11:55:06

I can’t seem to motivate myself to do anything or go anywhere much this week. Must be the cold, but given rain and storms are to come I really ought to. I was meant to be going out with my daughter this afternoon but she has swapped days. I have lots to do at home but just wasting time online, or doing puzzles. No motivation. I will regret it later.

Beechnut Wed 22-Jan-25 09:47:21

Every day is a school day Truffle 😀 I didn’t know we had black squirrels in the UK so I’ve learnt something too.

Taichinan Wed 22-Jan-25 08:56:30

Truffle I too thought you must be in Scotland if you were seeing red squirrels - although I had seen something on a nature programme on TV about the ones on Brownsea Island. They're such gorgeous little creatures, the red ones.
I've decided to cut back my time in front of the SAD Lamp to 40 minutes as I think maybe it was affecting my sleep. I had begun to sleep only 2-3 hours a night and was still functioning well during the day. But I know we need our sleep, and last night I slept! Time will tell if that's a coincidence.
It's lovely to hear how some of you have decided to get out more - and lovely that you can. I'm very content with my own company, but I'm also lucky enough to still be able to take my tai chi classes. I've been an instructor for 14 years now and through some dark times just having to go out and do that was a life-saver. There's just something in the gentle movement that connects to something in me. I love it.

The photos are beautiful!!
