Fellow passengers and staff on the underground who are so kind and helpful without being asked.
Good Morning Monday 18th May 2026
Just small things, not cruises or anything like that, please, nor how kind you've been to others
Just small random acts that have stayed with you.
Mine for this year is a random grand netter, when I was moaning about my health, and how I may have to get a taxi to and from hospital.
I got an inbox from someone, who I'm not friends with, particularly, and don't even know, particularly.
She said she was more than happy to transfer some money into my bank sooner than me miss the appointment.
It's not about gransnet, by the way, just kindness.
Also, when I was called to the hospital for "the chat" when my girlie was dying, the junior doctor aged about seventeen, had bought me a donut.
Fellow passengers and staff on the underground who are so kind and helpful without being asked.
My DH who convinced me to retire early, life without the stress of work has been a blessing
That's really inspiring,
You were exceptionally brave, and it's so nice to hear of a whole group of women being so welcoming.
It's quite often not the case, so I gather, so you really have struck lucky.
I hope the new year brings you and your friends happy, contented days.
I’m someone who has struggled to make close friends all my life because of bullying when I was young. Although I’ve had counselling which has helped I don’t have a huge number of close friends. This year my closest friend died of cancer and another friend is not around as she has to be hundreds of miles away with a very sick grandchild. She’s been gone since February. So I was feeling a bit lost when I decided to join a yoga class I hadn’t been to before. The women in the group embraced me (literally!) as part of their group and I really feel I’ve made a new group of friends. They’ve been an amazing group and have done me a lot of good.
Yes, a young man a few years ago took my case, and carried it what seemed to be miles in a London station.
I was so grateful I could have cried, because I had hours and hours left on my journey, and wasn't sure where I should be going.
I know it is only a little thing but have had a lot on my plate recently and was coming back from London, firstly taking the tube during rush hour, was packed like sardines, I was bone tired and my head was whirring with family worries when I felt a tug on my sleeve, a young man was offering me his seat, unheard of usually on the tube, was about to refuse but he had got up and obviously someone else would snaffle it so I sat down and almost cried. Like I say wasn’t much but it meant a lot at that moment.
Also would like to add the kindness of many on here, especially those who hang out on the estrangement forum.
🌺🙏🏾
hollysteers ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’.
Such kindness. Bet you cried with relief from it all.

After a failed tooth extraction, leaving a large part of the tooth behind and in agony, after a few days of no help from the dentist, my DDs’ best friend (DD in the south) took me in the middle of the night to A&E and they gave me the right amount of painkillers.
Living alone, I was so grateful and she works full time with a sick mother and three children. I’m to call on her any time I’m in need.
My robot vac is named Gloria.
I'm sure she lives up to her name, gliding along as if to a symphony of music, with a sparkle on her wheels, her tall, elegant handle, ready to serve you.
MissA I named my shopping trolley on wheels Delores

My carer Delores is the most scattered brained person I have ever met.She gets the shopping wrong even when I give her a list snd the right money. She washes the dishes and puts everything away in the wrong place even though she’s been doing it for over six months now. She doesn’t know the difference between the washing Machine and the dryer when I ask her to do something with one of them, she comes and asks me. Is that your washer by the freezer? Sometimes I’m ready to scream but when she brings me a nice hot cup of tea and some toast without being asked then I could hug her. That’s a random act of kindness which I greatly appreciate.
I couldn't stay cross with someone named Delores.
Beautiful name.

My husband. Always.
Sorry if that sounds a bit schmaltzy MissA!
I just seem to appreciate him even more these days. And he brings me TIB every day (when he can). 💙
A bit of schmaltz is good 😃
My DP does random acts of kindness both for me and family members, neighbours and strangers.

That's really kind, because hospital appointments are the bane of people who don't drive,
Kind neighbours who drove DH to his daily radiotherapy sessions when I was unable to do so.v

Last year when my sister was hanging on after two heart attacks and a stroke after losing her husband just three weeks earlier ,I was in absolute bits,Scared to answer the phone and avoiding leaving the house .My lovely son and DIL turned up at lunchtime and handed me an envelope to cheer me up .Inside was a scan of a new baby they hadn’t,t told anyone else about that did give me something to smile about and when baby was born they gave her my name as her middle name. She is a joy and a delight and I smile every time they bring her through the door.My sister instil with us paralysed and almost blind but she,s still the same best friend to me she a.ways was
After a spectacular fall, dislocating my shoulder and fracturing the humerus, one kindly woman drove to fetch my OH, and then drove us both to the GP surgery. As the latter could do nothing effective, a second woman standing by heard this and offered us a taxi ride to hospital, as she worked for the company. When arriving in agony at A+E, the driver told us it was already paid for. We put our thanks onto the Nextdoor website as well as writing to thank them both.
I always fancy a bacon buttie but I'm no good at painting so that's that!
That really is going over and beyond!!
Excellent service, and two hours free, into the bargain.
I'm amazed, and now I fancy a bacon buttie.
