On Monday I posted on the Good Morning thread about my husband in hospital. I had found a bottle of Holy Water in my wardrobe which I kept when my Mum passed away as she was a firm believer.
I took it to hospital the next day and put some on his arm and leg that aren’t working and also on his forehead. I took it home and forgot all about it.
Went in again today and his BP was excellent (this is the man who often has it up in the 200s!) he was eating a sandwich supervised by the dietician (after 3 weeks tube fed) and his speech was much better as was his droopy mouth. Two doctors came to the bed and said he had made great progress in the last few days and he will be going to rehab unit for stroke patients for physio, speech therapy etc. They just need a free bed. His feeding tube will probably come out on Monday.
I asked my husband how come his speech was so much better and he shrugged. Then my son said “it must be the holy water.” I was just open mouthed!
We are so pleased as it has been a very stressful and worrying 3 weeks for all of us. I remain convinced my late Mum had a hand in this as she loved my husband and if she were still here would be splashing him with her holy water.
Thank you for the update Primrose. Little miracles are part of lining through the kind of times you are in. I hope his recovery continues. The stroke rehab teams are good x
Great news. I’ve been thinking about you. My dad had a stroke aged 56, he lost the use of his arm, and his speech but with love and support he lived another 25 year. until he passed away aged 80. Wishing you both a very happy Christmas.
How wonderful Primrose Prayer certainly is answered. My father was given 6 hours to live, haemorrhaging after an operation. He was much loved by the congregation, who all prayed for him. The six hours came and went, his BP stabilised, and eventually he went back to Theatre to have the packs removed, and lived a further nine years.
