Out of date items before Christmas Day!

I’ve just had my last food delivery before Christmas and quite a few items are out of date December 24th. It doesn’t really matter to me as I’m on my own but for families I would imagine it causes difficulty.

My son went to S********s this morning and he found a lot of what he wanted to be the same, so no more shopping in advance of Christmas Day.

I've got shopping coming tomorrow, it was the only delivery date I could get, and I'm a bit worried. Got a houseful with 2 kids, partners and children home for the week and another one visiting for a day. I'm going to try to check dates as I unpack and send stuff back. Then I will have to face the supermarket next week.

Yep, I did a fairly big shop yesterday but will have to go on Monday for cream, milk and a few other things that all seemed to have a use by of 24th Dec. Really don’t have time, but needs must!

I bought 6 mince pies from T...o last week, it wasn't till I got home that I saw the sell by date was 27th November. There was a big stack of them too hmm

I did my usual weekly Tesco/Lidl shop yesterday (we are there just after 7am every Thursday) and found nearly everything had a post 25th date, the only thing I didn't get that I wanted in Tesco was cream because that was dated 24th and I won't need it until 26th. But I then found some with longer date in Lidls. So you may be lucky with another two days having passed by theworriedwell.
It was rather busier than usual even at that time, so happy I am not going near until next Friday!

I wouldn’t worry about anything just a day over the eat by date, unless it looked or smelled off. The double cream I had delivered for my trifle and bread sauce is use by Christmas Eve, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. Many things, can be put in the freezer for a few days, of course, to extend their life a little.

Both Aldi and Tesco the same. Many Christmas items dated 22 December and 23rd December. Will have to go again!!!

Waitrose is the same with early dates. I had to leave some food on the shelves, some of it being fish.

Tesco had quite a lot of Dec 26th today.

I shopped on Wednesday in Aldi. Milk and cream well in date. I'm not sure what we're having for meat on Christmas day. There's only two of us. I have got a gammon joint in the fridge, (well in date) that we can have but I might have a wander down to Sainsbury's or Asda on Christmas Eve and see if there is anything exciting on offer.

We had a large pork pie with a short date delivered before Christmas one year.
We wanted it for Boxing Day and told the driver.
He said he'd arrange a refund, but we could keep it anyway.
We ate it as a bonus tea that week 😋

M & S today had 22nd December dates on products at the front of their shelves. I dug deep and found some dated 25th December.

Items seemed to have a reasonable date on them in Tesco today. We had to go ourselves as we couldn't get a delivery slot.

I dug deep I did too but mostly the items I wanted were fine.

Yes, some veg was 15p but I just hope the farmers got a fair price and it was Tesco that took the hit.

Morrisons delivery today, the bits I’d ordered for Christmas all had a 28th December date. Very pleased - and relieved. I think we’re lucky as our deliveries come from a warehouse rather than a store.
