Good morning from mid Essex, it’s starting to get light, but I can’t see what the weather is doing. I know the forecast is for a very mild day. Signs of family stirring downstairs, quite late for them, usually the 9 year old is up earlier than this.
My son in law is taking me home today to pick up the last bits of post, and some flowers left in the porch, sent by my sis in law. Then back here, will have to add the family’s presents to the growing pile in the living room!
dD2 will bring the Turkey round, DD1 was making sausage rolls and cheesy biscuits yesterday. I used to do all that on Christmas Eve!
Have the best Christmas Eve possible everyone, and a Merry Christmas too!

Christmas Eve everyone.
Busy morning for me. Hairdresser at half nine, Sainsbury’s delivery between half ten and half eleven, friend calling for gift exchange, son out law calling with homemade cookies ( he was a chef in a former life) then sister in law bringing turkey crown and ham which she had in her freezer.
Yesterday we resurrected good tableware ready for tomorrow.
After over two weeks I finally feel better so looking forward to Christmas Day.
Hope you all have a wonderful time.

Happy Christmas Eve dear morning friends 🎄🤶🏻

We will wander down the road to the butchers and pick up the turkey and other bits, bread from bakers then it’s home to cook ham, make sausage rolls, mince pies and prep what I can for dinner tomorrow evening (I know it’s odd but our Christmas lunch will be around 6pm)

We have DD and boys staying here until 27/28th, my sister and her family will be here 26/27th so a full house. Two youngest sons and families will be here on Boxing Day making us 19 for lunch 🙀

The panto yesterday was fabulous, Rylan was sooo good 👏👏👏

Another fan of a dry sherry here 👍🏻

Enjoy your Christmas however you are celebrating 🎄🎅🏻🧑‍🎄🤶🏻

Good morning from a wet and windy NE, where it is 13 degrees.
Going to be a busy day doing preparations, I got nothing done yesterday as I was receiving messages and having to make phone calls.
My sister was transferred to another hospital for rehabilitation, when she was seen by the doctors yesterday they said they would send her home but she protested and told them she couldn't manage. Her broken nose is healing but she has a neck brace and a one on her leg too and lives in a second floor flat with no lift.
My younger sister, who fell downstairs two weeks ago, managed to hold a knife and fork yesterday. First thing she has been able to do for herself.
Have a good day and enjoy the time with your family.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s unseasonably mild just as was forecast. I made bread sauce late last evening and left it to cool naturally before putting it in the fridge earlier this morning, It seems to be okay🤞and I’ll pick it up tomorrow en route from DD4’s where I’m spending Christmas Eve to DD3’s where I’ll join most of the family for the rest of Christmas Day.

Early mass soon to celebrate my beloved son Nicholas’ birthday. I’ll be remembering too all of us for whom this is a time of sorrow as well as, thankfully, joy.

Wishing everyone the best day possible and safe journeys to those on the move.🌲

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Off to collect the turkey from the farm shop this morning. Then home to do last final preparations. Hoping there will be 4 adults and two GC at my table tmrw but the winter bugs are circulating a bit too close for comfort. Our family were all hit with the winter vomiting last year … please not again 🙏.

Wishing a very happy healthy Christmas to all 🎄⭐️🎅🎁

Good morning from a brightening W Kent. Very little to do today, maybe get the parcels downstairs ready for tomorrow. Fish pie tonight. DB arrived safely bringing a streaming cold with him, feeling a bit miffed as I have tried so hard not to catch anything, oh well.
Dry sherry sounds good.
A happy Christmas Eve wish to all

Sorry to hear about DD3 Kitty.

Good morning Mick and All from the Premier Inn close to our son’s home.

We made the right decision to book an hotel stay whilst with the family. We were greeted by the 3 boys with coloured torches on their doorstep yesterday afternoon. The noise level was high. Our ‘almost’ daughter in law cooked us a fabulous lamb dinner, we then played a very raucous game of Monopoly based on Brighton. The nearest town to here. We left at 9.30 and escaped to our peaceful hotel bedroom where I was asleep within half an hour.

Must get moving as we have been invited to breakfast by the family.

Festive/Christmas Greetings to All. 🎄☃️

cornergran Tue 24-Dec-24 07:14:14

Oh heck kitty, inconvenient doesn’t cover it for your daughter. What a shame.

cornergran Tue 24-Dec-24 07:12:02

Morning Mick, morning All. We’re forecast 13degrees today. Not cold for sure.

Made a batch of sausage rolls yesterday with carols playing courtesy of Alexa and felt quite emotional thinking of all the years pre freezer when it had been a last minute, happy, task. Mr C, official tester of all food, declared them fit for sharing and plates of warm sausage rolls made their way to neighbours with enough left for our tea.

Today we’re off to visit not so Littlest and his minders with Christmas gifts. He has a huge maternal family and so many gifts during the next two days we were asked if we’d mind him opening ours today. Mind? Why would we?

Another here convinced of the medicinal value of a very civilised glass of sherry. Not only enjoyable but in my case it always settled a grumbling tum.

Safe travels for those in the move, thoughts are with everyone finding life tough. Have the best day you can everyone.

kittylester Tue 24-Dec-24 07:11:14

Good morning all from North Leicestershire.

DH has a volunteer drive this morning (he takes patients to their radiotherapy appointments) and I hope the traffic isn't too bad.

I have a bit of ironing to do and stuff to get out of the freezer.

DD3 spent yesterday in A&E. She has a possible stress fracture in her ankle - handy at Christmas with 3 children.

Have the best Christmas Eve possible everyone.

Good morning everyone and happy Christmas Eve to all! Love Christmas Eve almost more than the big day itself!

Had to change plans for cooking the ham yesterday as it turned out too big for the pressure cooker, so it went in the slow cooker instead. Its been chilling in the fridge overnight and I've just wrapped it in cling film and foil, and added it to my long list of things to take with me.

The cats got off to the cattery ok, without too much trouble getting them into their carriers, and were collected on time. They will be settled in by now.

My new (third) Alexa arrived yesterday, and I set it up in the afternoon, only took me a few minutes. It will replace my bedside clock radio which has become unreliable - Alexa doesn't have a clock display, but if I wake up in the night I can just ask it the time - which I did successfully last night! I have linked all three Alexas, so can have the same thing on all three at the same time.
Spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on recorded tv programmes,.with a glass of dry sherry by my side! Ash, I am definitely with you on that - I have been partaking of a daily dry sherry before dinner every evening for a few years now; it definitely does me good!

Lots of things to get together this morning before I am collected by DS-in-law early afternoon, along with DGD2. DGD1 is in the panto matinee this afternoon and will come to join us with her mum and dad later on.

Wishing all a lovely Christmas Eve.

Good morning from Malta where the high today is 9°C and the low 4°C.🥶

I stayed with the boys yesterday and they were both very sweet and well behaved on the whole. There was a bit of squabbling over toys but nothing major.😅

I’m looking after them again today as DD3 has plans to meet a friend and would prefer to be unencumbered by two boisterous toddlers.

I was awoken at 4am by the howling wind, managed to get back to sleep eventually and was then woken by DD3’s message asking if I’d have the boys, hence I’m feeling very dopey and rushed.

My son is home, in bed feeling unwell. He had been to see the doctor and has been signed off work so will not be having a very exciting Christmas, poor chap.

Hoping you all have a good day. 🎅🏻

Good morning from dampish South Lanarkshire.

Hams are cooked and glazed and trifles are ready. We’re off to DD’s this morning and will leave there at noon to go into town for the Panto. It has become a birthday tradition for her third child, it’s her birthday till this evening when it becomes Christmas Eve.

DD and I will go to Mass this evening in her local church which is so much bigger than our little one.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas.

Grandmabatty Tue 24-Dec-24 06:32:14

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and damp. Ash I think it's a lovely habit to get into!
Yesterday I had the boys until afternoon. We made gingerbread stars, Christmas tree and dinosaurs which they iced then ate. I did ration them to avoid a sugar rush. We played hide and seek and watched stickman on tv. Then dgs1 did some science experiments with food colouring and water. He used test tubes and a pipette and was thoroughly pleased with himself.
Today I'm off to Tesco soon. Then I need to pick up my prescription before heading to the garden centre for a couple of plant gifts which I'll deliver. I'll nip over to my brother's with his gift and then home to do some tidying and cleaning. Have a peaceful Christmas Eve

LauraNorderr Tue 24-Dec-24 06:24:54

Good morning Mick. Good morning all from still dark Cheshire, sounds a bit breezy out there.
We’re off to beautiful Anglesey this morning to spend Christmas with family.
Staying a few days and also catching up with old friends.
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful new year.

Greyduster Tue 24-Dec-24 06:24:23

That’s a very civilised habit to foster, Ash! Keep it up😁!

Greyduster Tue 24-Dec-24 06:21:31

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Enjoy your breakfast bap, Mick - I’m quite tempted to have one myself later on! Not much to do today except go to the bakers in the next village to pick up some stuff I ordered, and deliver some gingerbread men to the small children who used to live next door to us but now live down the road, so not far to go. Then I will sort out and polish the cutlery we need for tomorrow. High days and holidays are the only time my silver sees the light of day now but it’s worth the effort. DD and the menfolk are coming over later to drop off some of the food we are cooking tomorrow. Then I think we will be good to go, as they say.
Hope we all find some time to relax this evening. Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from a mild feeling Torbay.

Yesterday, we were surprised to find Lidl wasn’t too busy just after 9.00am when we arrived to buy our last few items. A few more errands afterwards at Dunelm and my optician’s gave us a good start on the day.

This week, we’ve developed the rather pleasant routine of a glass of dry sherry at lunchtime! It’s more soothing to my achy joints than any painkillers!

Today we might attend the Crib Service at my church.

Every blessing this Christmas Eve. 🦩🎁⭐️🎄⛄️🦩

Christmas Eve!
Good morning from Bristol, where it’s mild. Don’t know what’s going on outside.
I tried to get some special lightbulbs for my up lighters£trudged all up and down the town to find them. Nada. Came home and ordered some online - not Am…n, I hasten to add.
Tesco with my neighbour. It was very busy, naturally, but in a sort of good humoured way, thankfully. I needed very little but got a lot of sugar in preparation for the Seville oranges next month.
In the afternoon, I packed the presents, etc., and found I needed a second large suitcase, and filled it 2/3, leaving very little for my clothes and stuff! Coming home will be fun, with one barely used and the other empty!
My lovely DGS in Folkestone sent me an afternoon tea for two; a wonderful surprise as he’s never got me a present before - he left it to his mum.
Today, I have to leave ear to attend a pre cataract appointment in town. Goodness know how much I’ll be able to see but am planning a taxi if I can’t take the bus.
Taxi (with my two LARGE suitcases) to DD’s in time to attend her 4 o’clock crib service.
Have a peaceful day, enjoy the tiny pleasures and chinks of happiness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🎄❤️

Good morning from s somerset, dull dank weather today and for the whole week

Peaceful and quiet in my house, I made some food yesterday and knitted a lot, after a walk. It was an enjoyable day and I enjoyed knitting while watching Versailles on iplayer. My warm hat is finished and I am making socks now, again a ufo

Similar today then off screen for a couple of days.

Have a lovely Christmas

Good morning from a cold and windy east coast of Fife. Only one more sleep to go even at my ripe old age im so very excited, particularly as I’ll be seeing my family tomorrow I just can’t wait.

Peace on earth and goodwill to all men is my prayer for today
