Frozen food defrosted

Could do with some advice here. I had my last supermarket delivery before Christmas on Sunday and it included some frozen party food. OH apparently put some of it in the fridge instead of the freezer. Mozarella sticks. They're supposed to be cooked from frozen but have been in the fridge for two days now! So will be defrosted. Will I have to throw them or do you think they would still be safe to cook tonight?

Absolutely fine to cook tonight.

I often buy frozen mozzarella sticks, I prefer to defrost them before cooking as it prevents them from splitting

Oh thank you - even after two days of defrosting in the fridge?!

I would have thought they will be fine from a safety angle. I'd probably go for 3 days' maximum. The concern would be that they will probably have gone a bit soggy by now.

Fridge.com states 5 days is ok. I always cook from defrost, as previous poster says it stops them from splitting. Pat with kitchen roll if they appear wet.

Thank you.

Defrosting times given on packaging are wildly inaccurate. My turkey crown and ham both said to defrost 24 hours in fridge. Next day they were both still frozen solid and my fridge is not set very cold.

They ll all be fine don’t worry a jot

I am really safety conscious with food but I'd cook them as they've just defrosted in the fridge and been kept at a safe temperature smile

They’ll be fine if they’ve been in the fridge. I find it’s better to defrost them - they cook more evenly and don’t tend to split because they don’t have the moisture content from going from freezer to oven.
