Good morning all .

Yesterday passed quickly and Dh and I had a quiet day watching TV and eating.

Today we’re off to DS1’s with all the family, even dgd1 managed to get back from southampton and will join us. She’s back at work tomorrow , so a flying visit.

DS2 and family will have to leave by 4 as dgd4 is in Panto this evening, hopefully the roads will be ok.

Wishing you all a happy day.
🥳

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and damp. Yesterday was a lovely day. I was at dds for breakfast and to exchange gifts. The boys were wild with excitement. Dgs1 was thrilled with his guitar I got him and gave me a huge hug. Dgs2 was a bit overwhelmed with all the gifts. He has still some to open. Back home, I rested until early afternoon when I visited mum. I bumped into dd and the boys and my brother who were leaving as I arrived. Mum was ok. She was quite chatty.
Later I was picked up by dsils parents and we headed up to dds house. The dinner was lovely, lots of laughter. Dgs1 sat beside his grandad who is his favourite person. Dgs2 sat between granny and grandma who are his favourite people. I came home about seven and was glad to go home as my hip was aching badly.
Today I will potter about and watch tv. A lovely, quiet day. Have a good Boxing Day everyone.

Good morning from a very murky, dank hillside in south Glos, I’m still in bed with little inclination to move!
Our Christmas Day was very peaceful and quiet, I enjoyed an early walk with the dog and my lovely neighbours.
I had a lovely video call from my DDIL, DGCs and DS, the boys had so many things to show me!
Today a nice dog walk somewhere then nothing else planned.
Enjoy your Boxing Day everyone 🌹

Good morning from a very overcast Wiltshire. On repeat atm.

We had a lovely day yesterday at DD2. The GC’s were hyper but that is to be expected. We provided the turkey which I’d been worried about as I’d inadvertently ordered a crown from M&S which was slow cooked sous-vide style but which turned out to be very nice. My SinL’s father dropped us home which was very kind but he doesn’t drink due to medication he takes for RA. DH will collect car later. Only TV I watched was Tiddler with the GC’s in the evening.

A quiet day today before DD1 comes tomorrow with her family.

Have a good Boxing Day everyone.

Good morning Mick and all gransnetters.
Hope that you all had a good day yesterday. It is very still and cold looking outside. Not a breath of wind but after a very very dark morning signs of light coming up at last. I plan to wash my precious cashmere jumper and putting it out to dry a little , will hopefully collect all my towels , dry and smelling lovely. I forgot to go and collect them last night. Had a bit of an odd christmas day, managed to get the washer working so did two loads of washing , carried on clearing things away, and putting things back where they belonged. Still not discovered where the iron is! Sorted out emails, and some paperwork, and generally sorting stuff. Still lots to do but I am getting there. Had radio 3 on for most of the day, but enjoyed the last Downton Abbey. It was of the "happy ever after" style and tied up lots of stories. Perfect to let me just rest and relax, mentally. My mind has been racing with jobs needing to be done, wondering if the insurance have got sorted yet and where the shoe polish and the big scissors have disappeared to. Had the lamb out ready to make the dinner, but just felt too tired to do it and so left it to cook today, and ended up having a very good sausage sandwich, a couple of mince pies and good coffee. Ah , there are some compensations to living alone. The town will be full of eager sales shoppers and people returning things and spending christmas money, so I shall not attempt to join them. Hope you all have a good day today, are able to have some "me" time . Thank you all for letting me ramble on over the last few weeks. When you are on your own, there is no one to just talk over what you need to do. I miss my husband still, he was a lovely man, and also very practical, so if I was wondering what the best way to tackle something, he would have a lot of good ideas. Take care of yourselves and shut the door on the mess and have a good coffee and put your feet up.

Good morning from a foggy Torbay. After a few bright hours, we had fog coming and going throughout yesterday.

Over breakfast we watched a wonderful video recorded in Wells Cathedral of A Ceremony of Carols (Britten). It was a joy to hear such pure voices and see the diversity amongst the young choristers. Here’s the link:-

Later we enjoyed watching Swan Lake performed in the round by the English National Ballet at the Royal Albert Hall. That is available on BBC iPlayer. I know there are other grans who enjoy ballet.

Tomorrow we head North to visit family so I might not have time to post in the morning.

Safe travels to all on the move and enjoy your celebrations. 🦩🎄🎁⛄️🦩

Good morning all from the Black country, curtains still closed so don't know what the weather is doing but no plans today so not really bothered.
Lovely day yesterday with DiLs family. The boys enjoyed their presents.
Have the best day possible everyone and safe travels those on the move ☀️

Morning from a dull S Hants.
Wonderful day yesterday with my daughter and grandchildren, my son, fiancée and her daughter called in briefly after working in the pub.
Lunch went well, the pre cooked swede wasn’t forgotten in the microwave, it has been known.
No plans today, brilliant!

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. We had a lovely day yesterday with DD2, her partner and the two little ones. Lunch/Dinner was chaos, I found it difficult to co ordinate all the traditional Christmas bits together without my helper (DH was in the sick bay with man flu). The littlest monkey seemed very confused at having a big dinner at lunch time and kept asking why it wasn’t dark and had we had lunch already and at 5 has his first very wobbly tooth which meant he needed tomato sauce on his Christmas dinner 😂We seemed to end up with a lot of squashed peas on the floor, burnt stuffing balls (which everyone agreed was actually quite good) and lots of laughter. An afternoon of various games was enjoyed by all and at 9 pm we had peace and quiet, and settled down to watch Gavin & Stacey. It will be a quiet day today, maybe a walk and eating the leftovers.

Wishing you all a very happy and maybe peaceful (maybe not) Boxing Day. Have the best day possible 🎄⭐️🎄

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset.

Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday, particularly seeing the years disappear from oir teenagers and they threw themselves into gift opening. It had been an emotional shift for our elder granddaughter when she realised she would be the only person many of her clients saw on what has always been a day full of loving family for her.

Also barred from the kitchen (it’s so odd and really difficult) we enjoyed a delicious meal, later travelling home on quiet-ish motorways through some nasty mist patches. There had been a FaceTime call with our other son and no so Littlest in the morning, it was all a huge treat.

Quiet one today, hoping for a walk and then whatever we feel like doing, I suspect very little.

Safe travels to all out and about, have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from a cloudy, still Cornwall. Very quiet again without the traffic. Lovely day yesterday at my son's. Today I'm off to my other son's to chill and watch TV and drink ale. The photo is my arty daughter-in-law's reaction to my tin of knitted gingerbread men. I think it's delight rather than horror. 😂😂

Good morning from W Kent. We had a lovely time yesterday with AC and GC. A lot of effort had been made with food and present buying. I am going to need two good eyes as I have a pile of books to read. Today we are off to DD2 a bit later in the day.
All the best

kittylester Thu 26-Dec-24 07:18:16

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where it is still dark.

A bit of a full on day today. DS1 and his lovely lady will arrive around 11, DD2 and Co about 30 mins later for hot dogs before going to the football and then coming back here for Boxing Day lunch after.

Present opening will be involved at some point.

Have the best day possibleveveryone.

Good morning everyone from a very dark Essex. A chilly and cloudy day is forecast. Yesterday was a fairly chaotic day with the family. bellasnana I agree that it feels odd to take a back seat, while the next generation does the work.
All four granddaughters were delighted with their presents, their parents were pleased to receive vouchers from me too.
This afternoon we are visiting friends, no doubt there will be some sort of food and drink involved. I must pack some of my stuff today, in preparation for returning home tomorrow. It will be a real shock to the system to have to fend for myself instead of being waited on!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a cold and dark start to the day it’s going to be a miserable day so I’ll just stay at home and keep nice and cosy. I was spoiled rotten yesterday receiving lots of gifts and chocolates.

Have a good day my friends I love you all

Good morning from Malta where the high is expected to reach 15°C.

Had a lovely day yesterday, the Church was packed at Mass and it was so nice to see a lot of children and young people amongst us oldies.

Went to DD3 and SiL who had worked hard to give us a lovely meal. It still feels odd to have someone else do the cooking after I did it for thirty odd years, but I’m quite happy to take a back seat.

The boys added the sparkle to the day. They are so sweet and loving. Littlest was beside himself when he saw his toy vacuum cleaner and would not be parted from it. “My uber “(Hoover) he calls it!

His brother was not really into the presents, he seemed overwhelmed and I think he’s unsettled being out of his normal routine. I’m worried about him, to be honest, as he still has very few words and refuses to be potty trained. Littlest has been reliably trained since August and he chats non stop and repeats everything. I know one shouldn’t compare, but it is hard not to notice the difference.

Had a lovely FaceTime with the US family who were having a great time.

I’m not doing much today.

Hope you all had a good day yesterday and will do today as well.☀️

Good morning from Bristol. The mist covers the Avon valley, which DD’s house overlooks. There is usually a lovely view.

I’ve only just woken up. I have slept so well;I was very tired after the day’s shenanigans - the stocking opening, the presents, church service, then on to sSiL’s sister and family for the rest of the day.
Having lived on my own for nearly 3 years now, I am totally unused to crowds. (I’m never good with “too many” people). Predictably, the delicious (vegetarian) lunch was late, although we had been “given orders” to arrive on time.
The family went out for walk, I had a nap.
We got home lateish, I was so tired that I went straight to bed, and almost immediately to sleep.
Another family day today, this time here. I go home tomorrow, they decamp to the in-laws for NYE.
I hope everyone has had the day they wished for.
Carpe diem ❤️🎄🦩🦩

Good morning Mick, too dark to see the weather but it feels mild.

I’m having a lazy day today, but tomorrow I have 3 king size beds to change, for now I’ve closed the doors to the rooms!

Lazy gran indeed

Have a restful day everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, fog for the whole of today

I had to cancel further plans for this week, dd2 has suddenly come down with what seems like flu. I have plenty of food and some treats so will be having a quiet time at home

I don`t like dismal fog, the road yesterday was not easy to drive and tbh I am very glad to be back home in my peace and quiet after a very lovely family day

I can see me lighting the fire, watching tv, knitting and eating nice food.

Have a good day
