Feeling a bit seedy as my old Dad used to say, the reason? Overdoing the chocs this evening, Thorntons and now never wish to see another box ever again.🤢

Agree - once a year to remind self I really don't like over sweet chocolate - pay more, buy better, eat less. Roll on 2025

No one mentioned my favourite Chocolate Ginger

Not chocs but my family know I enjoy the occasional Baileys, as I told them all not to buy me anything this year as I really don’t need anything more, they all arrived with a litre bottle.
So now I have 5 litres !!
Next year I really must come up with some ideas 🤣🤔.

I'd been trying to lose weight before Christmas and doing pretty well, all undone now! So back on the sensible eating from today...

For some reason i have accumulated 5 big toblerones this Christmas and i really y do need to get rid of some extra poundage!!! So am going to maybe eat 2 before new year and save the others for easter and my birthday holiday at the end of February! I wouldn’t mind but some years i don’t get any chocolate for Christmas!!!

Overthemoongran Mon 30-Dec-24 11:24:42

I have tried so hard over the last six months and by being really strict with myself I lost 2 stone. I did allow myself some treats over Christmas and in fact was quite ill one night as,I think, my system was unused to rich food (& chocolate) but how is it possible that half a stone went back on in a week!!!!

I’ve eaten far too much full stop! Bet hey soon be January first to start the healthy eating and back to getting the few pounds off that I have gained over the Christmas period, given most of the naughty goodies away now that was left over it’s the only way to stop myself finishing them 🤣

Must be the first year in my life since I’ve had teeth I’ve not eaten a mince pie.

Why not?
Teeth still working well, chomping, and all that? smile

I put the bit about teeth because I couldn’t eat mince pies as a gummy baby 😃
This year I didn’t buy any.

I've been very good with my diet eating lots of salads ,vegetables and fruit until a week before Christmas .
I opened some of my emergency chocolate presents and had to replace them only to have to replace the teplacements !
They were mainly Lindt truffles -
hard to resist whilst binge watching TV .

Since I eat some dark chocolate every day (Lindor with sea salt), I can add one or two chocolates to my treat without feeling too guilty. My Christmas chocolates will last well into January or February.

Although I was really disappointed with a box of marachino cherry chocolates that were really stale. The chocolate gone waxy, and the filling crystalized. After eating two, I had to toss them away. My son must have got some old stock when he bought them for me; of course I won't say anything. But now I have a craving for some nice ones, even though I have a box of Ferrero Rochons available.

I was amused in Waitrose this morning to see reduced price reindeer - you know, the ones wrapped in gold paper with a red bow - jostling for shelf space with gold paper wrapped bunnies and cream eggs. I guess the chocolate flow will go on!

So not just me that’s overdone the choccy, phew what a relief 😄
The only good thing about overdoing things last evening is that I don’t want to even look at anything sweet now, wonder how it long it will last, as I have a huge Toblerone waiting for me upstairs rustling it’s foil suggestively every time I go into the bedroom.🤭

Usually stick to dark chocolate but make a big exception for Ferrero rocher. I have two small boxes both unopened but not for long.

MissAdventure Sun 29-Dec-24 19:00:38

I still have the three big ones, still with that annoying see through tape in place.

I think I need an emergency doc appointment to tell him I've been unable to eat them! grin

Ferrero Rocher are my downfall and I had loads for Christmas 🤷‍♀️ I’ve also just eaten two mars ice cream, absolutely delicious 😂

I've got three of the big trays of Ferrero, and a little pack with 8 in, because everyone was worried that nobody had bought me any. smile

You lucky bugger. I can eat one of those big slabs in one sitting 🥰🥰

lixy Sun 29-Dec-24 17:00:45

Have to eat them up as they have short ‘use by’ dates - such a shame!🤣🤣

Dottydots Sun 29-Dec-24 16:55:56

Not been feeling too good over Christmas and completely lost my appetite. My friend thinks that what is my loss is his gain. He's ben chomping away at my boxes of chocs and sweets now for 2 days without any thoughts for me. Little does he know that I'm not daft and have rescued a few hidden handfuls for when I'm feeling better. No flies on me!

NonGrannyMoll Sun 29-Dec-24 16:46:07

I bought a tray of low-sugar organic chocolates this year & felt very proud of myself - until we came to eat them. Not exactly foul, but hardly a festive treat either. It'll take us until Easter to get rid of them, one grimacing swallow at a time. Back to Hotel Chocolat next year!

Grannmarie Sun 29-Dec-24 16:38:02

I'm not usually a big chocolate fan, preferring savoury nibbles, but DS3 always includes a box of Purple Ones with my Christmas presents. He knows they are my favourite chocolate and after a very busy Christmas Day I enjoyed them over a few sessions relaxing with catch up TV 📺.

TerriBull Sun 29-Dec-24 11:22:55

Yes! I have indeed overdone it because they were given, so what can you do? throw them back at the kind person offeringshock There's always that nano second after thanking, of trying to work out if "these are going to be bad in a good way" as opposed to " but no they'll probably be good in a bad way?" Chocolates are very much a double edged sword a sort of initial euphoria in opening the double layered box, followed by numerous chompings, and mayble "I'll just have one more" before the inevitability of "eeeurgh!" sets in and that sinking mood of "I shouldn't have eaten that many even if I have tossed all the hard undesirables to my oh, there's now a helluva lot of empty spaces in that box!" shock So yes it plays out a bit like that with me.

Maybe I'm just overthinking it confused

I love chocolate and eat chocolate for its benefits. 100% black and only 1 strip every day, which satisfies my chocolate needs

I am no saint and recognise that I could eat a whole box of booja booja in one sitting so don`t buy any for myself. Mon cherie, I ate far too many in the past

Anyway the best way forward for me was to lose my addiction, especially to the glucose-fructose component of many chocolates. It has worked, this Christmas I have won and look nice in my jumper dresses with leggings. I will try never to be weak willed again and best way for me is not to buy chocolate junk

Witzend Sun 29-Dec-24 11:03:50

We are absolutely awash with various kinds of chocolate. I can see it lasting us until the clocks change in March.
