Good morning from Centreparcs.
Yesterday was spent watching GC play football pool which they enjoyed. More forest walking, discovering areas we hadn't encountered before including a hidden gem of a lake.
The panto was the best one we've ever seen here and had the children entranced.
Back to DD and DS family lodge for an evening meal wound up the day.
This morning we're both booked in for the spa before we leave.
A wonderful end to a very happy weekend.

Good morning from a chilly W Kent.
Ash condolences, losing friends is so sad.
Ilovepuffins Hope all goes well for your niece
Lovely afternoon yesterday spent with friends of 55 years. I think we all find it quite a comfort to be together occasionally now.
Today bed stripping and a pile of washing to get started. Shepherd’s pie at lunchtime, then a tv catchup session
Best wishes to all

ginny Mon 30-Dec-24 08:59:56

Good morning all.
Condolences to Ash flowers

We have been very quiet here for the last couple of days although we did venture out for a short walk and to buy a new windscreen wiper.
Later this afternoon we are going to the ‘Land of lights’ with DD3, SIL and youngest DGs. We will be wrapping up up warm as they are just over the flu. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain.
Ish if all a good day with a smile along the way.

Gingster Mon 30-Dec-24 08:56:57

Good morning all from the Suffolk coast.
Our journey up was trouble-free with very little traffic on the roads. Thanks Liberty, the A12 behaved itself , although a very bumpy ride.

The cottage took a good while to warm up and we are waiting for a new liner for the woodburner, so couldn’t light it. We’re nice and cosy now . The sky is lightening and the sun is emerging and the sea is calm, and no damage from wind storms thank goodness .

We’ll walk the dog along the beach this morning, do a bit of shopping and I’ll attempt to read more of my book club book. It’s slow and doesn’t hold my attention, so I might just read a summary and be done with it. Life’s too short and I have several others that I’m looking forward to starting.

So sorry to hear your sad news Ash.🙏.
Thoughts to all sick or worried grans.
A new year approaches with new possibilities. 🌟.

Take care

Good morning all. I'm back from my glorious Christmas mayhem with DD and the combined families. Newman is a very accomplished cook, very organised, and large numbers to cook for don't seem to bother him at all. I suspect he might be a swan - you know, serene on the surface and paddling like billyo down below!
DGD3 did a wonderful job of driving us there and back. We were lucky with the traffic too. On the way south the whole of England seemed to be in the other carriageway heading for The Lakes or Scotland, and on our way home those same people were on their way home too! When we got back to her's we did the boot-to-boot swap, I donned my anti-glare night driving goggles and set off for the remaining two hours to home. Again, no problems.
Ash so sorry about your friend flowers.
Very sad to hear about your niece Puffin - it will indeed be a dreadfully long day ......
Today I'm off down to my great-niece's along with DD & Co to catch up with the LA contingent who are back home for a couple of weeks. And tomorrow I'm off back on the same hour's drive for a lunch to celebrate DGD1's 21st Birthday. They are then hoping to go to Edinburgh's Hogmanay - weather permitting 🤞
So never a dull moment as we say farewell to 2024. And somewhere in all that I shall have to fit in a food shop just in case I get snow- and ice-bound on top of my hill ......
Have a good day everyone and may those who are unwell feel better today x

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's blowing a hoolie!

I tentatively put the wheelie bin out this morning. Other bins in the street have been blown over, contents flying.

Heavy rain forecast. My df is driving me to Clydebank today. Thanks for the good wishes and pms for my operation tomorrow.

That's sad about your friend Ash
Condolences 🙏
Wishing you a safe journey home and any others on the roads today.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Thank you GrannyIvy

Good morning from a dry, chilly and dull Oxfordshire.

Dog stayed over last night for the first time in 5 weeks, builders have all gone so I expect we will get back into her routine of 3 days a week at ours, she isn’t any trouble and gets us out for a walk, although with a bird scarer going off every 30 minutes in a nearby filed, we have to time it just right as she is so scared of the big booming noise it makes.

Apart from that a normal house cleaning day.

So sorry for the loss of your friend Ash safe journey home.
MD hope you have escaped the family virus.

Have a good day everyone, safe travels to those out and about and hugs for those who are stressed or unwell.

GrannyIvy Mon 30-Dec-24 08:27:08

ilovepuffins. Hope all goes well for your neice a worrying time for you all 💐

NannyJan53 Mon 30-Dec-24 08:11:39

Good morning from a dry (so far) but dull Black Country.

Walking group walk this morning. Much needed as I feel rather sluggish. Then must pop into town for a birthday card for Mum. She will be 95 on Friday.

Christmas ham for dinner tonight. MrJ cooked it yesterday, so looks like Ham sandwiches for rest of week!

So sorry to hear about your friend Ashcombe Hope you have a trouble free journey home.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Liberty Mon 30-Dec-24 08:11:10

Good morning from a dry mist free Suffolk where we might, just might, have a little sun later.

We had a lovely lunch with DS and his tribe yesterday with lots of laughs provided by the 3 DGC. Today I’m meeting a friend for coffee and need to call into the garage to try and get someone to either look at the car’s heating or book it in.

On Saturday as DH and I drove into our nearest market town, the heating didn’t come on but suddenly came on when we were nearly home on the return journey. It seemed ok yesterday but we took DH’s Cara’s the restaurant for lunch was nearly 40 miles away. I hate intermittent faults!

Condolences Ash on the sad loss of your friend.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from a not quite light yet Northampton; looks dry out, but not going out today, so not bothered what the weather does.

Spent a very pleasant day yesterday, catching up on tv programmes I'd recorded over Christmas - watched Call the Midwife, Gavin and Stacey, and a wonderful English National Ballet production of Swan Lake - this is the first version I've seen with a happy ending; all the others I've seen have the Swan Queen Odette dying, but in this one she didn't, and they lived happily ever after! A very pleasant surprise! Also watched the highlights of Saturday's rugby match again.
Still have a few programmes left to watch so hope to catch up on those today.

Home-made soup for lunch today, and macaroni cheese for dinner tonight.

Just ordered my prescription on-line, a bit early to allow for the Bank Holiday.

So sorry to read about your friend Ash. 💐

GrannyIvy Mon 30-Dec-24 08:10:33

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Yesterday we did a walk by the river and then I went out on the garden and tidied around but for a while and put two new hellebore’s in at the front. My hellebores are lovely this year.
Today another walk is planned but DH staying home as his asthma is still quite troublesome so will keep in the warm. It does seem a quiet time at the moment as all the family ate back to work.
I need to plan for our friends arriving tmrw for New Year but seem in airy fairy mood but I’m sure will get myself organised. Beds are made up just last minute dust busting and food prep.

Ashcombe 🌺 hope your journey home goes well.

Sending best wishes to all hoping today will be a good one for you

ilovepuffins Mon 30-Dec-24 08:09:31

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dark with sleety rain and forecast to snow later
So sorry to hear such sad news about your friend Ash, sending condolences, take care travelling home
Yesterday was spent with DD2 and the DGC, it was busy and a bit chaotic but lovely having the house full. Today I’m looking forward to a facetime call with DS to catch up on all his news. Then a bit of washing, cleaning and a trip to Tesco
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better today grandmabatty
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Mon 30-Dec-24 08:01:25

Good morning all. Heavy rain and very windy with gusts up to 47mph in Glasgow today.

An unsettling start which affects my old, normally very laid back cat who is feeling the need to curl up on my lap covering her eyes with her paw as I type. On a hopefully positive note the trial run of lowering pain relief meds doses for a couple of days is showing positive results and signs of brain fog clearing too. 🤞I succumbed to taking a sleeping tablet last night in an effort to return to a better sleep pattern. Almost there.

I will venture out at one point to Waitrose this afternoon for a small shop. A noticeably small trolley load to fill my needs now.

Sad news for you Ash my condolences. 💐
I hope you are noticing some improvement on the health front Marydoll with no sign of catching the family virus thus allowing you to take necessary meds.

Best wishes to all for a good day and a bit of respite for all coping with difficult times whatever they may be.

monk08 Mon 30-Dec-24 08:01:17

Good morning all from the Black country, still dark but dry.
DS is bringing the boys over today to let some steam off at grandma and grandad's.
Ashcombe sorry to hear of your friends death, safe travels home💐.
Hope Marydoll is feeling a little better.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️

baubles Mon 30-Dec-24 08:00:36

Good morning Mick, morning all. It’s wild, wet, and very windy here in South Lanarkshire.

My condolences Ash thanks

Yesterday was a quiet day which was much needed after a very busy week.

We need to food shop today, all the family are coming for dinner on Wednesday so tomorrow will be spent in the kitchen preparing food.

Wishing everyone the best day possible with special thoughts to those coping with illness or sadness.

Good morning from the Midlands, Miserable, damp, wet and very cold so I’ve turned the heating up oh well I’ll worry about the bill when it comes. I’ve got my new personal carer coming today so I shall have A shower and my hair washed. She also makes me an ice cup of tea and washes any dishes left in the sink. Any mistakes blame it on the vocal which I’m using most of the time now. Sorry to hear about your friend Ashcombe the trouble of getting older, as my son says there won’t be many people at your funeral mum all your friends are dead, true. Have a nice day everyone, do take care. Mind how you go..

Redcar Mon 30-Dec-24 07:41:57

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s getting light and there are a few breaks in the clouds at last, a little less cold outside at 7 degrees.
ashcombe I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend. Safe driving home.
DD2 came over yesterday and brought my car back. I’ll drive when I feel ready, maybe later in the week. Getting in and out of it ma be a challenge as it’s a bit lower than either of the DD’s cars.
More tidying today, and some necessary admin, which I ignored while I was at DD1’s.
Have the best today possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 30-Dec-24 07:10:27

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and damp. Ash I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. Safe journey home.
Yesterday ended up being a non event as I felt increasingly unwell, so I went back to bed and dozed off and on.
Today I feel more like myself. I'm heading to Tesco soon then the butcher's for a steak pie and sirloin steaks. I'm getting organised for cooking on New Year's Day when I'm having my aunt and uncle for dinner. The weather forecast for tomorrow and Wednesday is really grim - torrential rain tomorrow and heavy snow on Wednesday - so they may not manage but at least I'll have plenty of food. The rest of today I will be doing housework and washing. Have a good day all.

RosesandLilac Mon 30-Dec-24 07:06:57

Good morning everyone from south Glos where it’s dry and 3° at the moment.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend Ash, even when expected it’s still very sad.
DS, DDIL and the DGSs are coming down for a few nights this week so I need to get the bedrooms and food sorted. I also have bloods taken again today because something came up on a recent test 🙄 and walk the dog so plenty to keep me busy today!
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Jaxjacky Mon 30-Dec-24 07:01:31

Morning from a dry cool S Hants.
How very sad Ash my condolences.
A quiet day yesterday, in tune with the weather, a short walk then meat draw (no luck).
Today I’ve a couple of phone calls to make, wrap my son’s birthday present for later in the week grocery delivery and quiz tonight.
Safe travels for those on the move, hope the poorlies are improving.

Good morning to you all.

Very sad for you Ash on the loss of your friend. Condolences also to Ginny on the loss of her brother. 🌺🌺

We had our annual family get together on Saturday at DD2’s. . DD1 and her family stayed over with us. This year we have all met up together 3 times, the other 2 occasions being weddings. My son made an absolutely ginormous trifle which was lovely. I made parmesan cheese biscuits and sausage rolls. I had quite a headache yesterday!

DH wants to book a cruise but I can’t help being reticent after our experience on our last one in late Autumn 2023 which ended so badly (was all over the press at the time).

2024 seems to have flown by. Wishing you all a good day.
