Good afternoon from Shropshire.

What a morning😭I was woken by a phone call to tell me my dear cousin has died very suddenly.Literally dropped down dead.We are devastated. We have just had a call to say my mum is being moved to nursing care.Very upsetting.I am hoping this is the end to a rubbish 2024 and not the start of a rubbish 2025.

My condolences to you Ash on the loss of your friend.Safe journey home💐

Good morning Mick and all from a bright northwest coast.
DGD and DD left yesterday, DS still here. DGD still suffering with a virus, so sadly had remained in bed since the day after Boxing Day. I hope I haven’t picked up her bug.

The turkey was too large, next time (GW) just a small one.
Quiet day yesterday, a little clearing up and I watched university challenge with DS and we had a giggle. He cooked a curry.

Condolences Ash, all the best Grammaretto, thoughts to ilovepuffins and all🌺

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It’s a brighter shade of grey today - maybe the sun will peep through later. DD3, DSiL and littlest DGDs (nearly 10 and nearly 6) are coming over today. They plan to go to the ice rink. We will just watch - though I’d love to skate I’m not going to risk it!

Marydoll, I so hoped you wouldn’t catch the bug - can your doctor give you anything to help with recovery?

Ash, my sympathy for the loss of your friend 💐

ilovepuffins, thinking of you and your niece and family. Hope for positive news.

Grammaretto, best wishes for your op and steady progress to a pain-free state.

Off to finish tidying up before family arrive to untidy 😂

GrannyIvy Mon 30-Dec-24 10:29:12

I’m getting organised for cooking on New Year's Day when I'm having my aunt and uncle for dinner.. I hope they won’t be too chewy Grandmabatty.

It’s a dull windy Co Armagh this morning
Eldest is due to arrive today , as it involves a ferry we aren’t sure of the time
Poor Marydoll I hope the bug vamooses pretty soon
So sorry to read about your friend Ash

luluaugust Mon 30-Dec-24 09:44:55

Marydoll flowers fingers crossed the bug departs asap

GrannySomerset Mon 30-Dec-24 09:44:23

Waved the family off yesterday and kept the washing machine busy with bedding, towels, tea towels, table napkins etc. May have to erect the ironing board today because even I draw the line at unironed table linen - but then I won’t be using any of it in the foreseeable future …..

So a quiet day after the joy of company with lots of Christmas reading. Meanwhile I hope that all those felled by the various horrible bugs begin to feel better and that the awful weather forecast doesn’t wreck plans. Special thoughts to Gramaretto and anyone else with major events in prospect.

Stilllearning Mon 30-Dec-24 09:43:04

Morning all from South Lanarkshire, I couldn’t get to sleep last night and slept late so once again I’m posting before reading or I won’t do it, will read with coffee later.
The plan is to go to my Giffnock family tomorrow and stay for a few days but the weather forecast is horrendous so I’m going to check and prepare in case I find myself staying here.

I was with my Aberdeen sister yesterday and read yesterday’s thread last night, Georgesgran, you hair disaster made me laugh out loud, I hope your Amazon order arrived to solve the problem!

Wishing everyone a safe and peaceful day.

Beechnut Mon 30-Dec-24 09:40:04

Good morning all from Severnside. We have a dull sky.
Looks like a few of my neighbours have gone back to work.

Condolences Ash 💐

I’ve a few jobs to do before I’m off out with my brother.

Have the best day you can all.

Grammaretto Mon 30-Dec-24 09:30:38

Oh no! Poor you Marydoll
I hope you throw the bug off soon or you'll be joining me in hospital. 😔
A lovely thought that you might suddenly appear 😀

Ilovepuffins thinking of your family flowers

Marydoll Mon 30-Dec-24 09:17:19

A quick good morning from me.

Condolences Ash.💐

Thinking of you Grammaretto. Best wishes for tomorrow. I had planned to come and visit you in hospital, but yesterday was a day of non stop vomiting. So not the best of ideas.
I haven't had any of my meds for two days, which is not good,
Another day in bed for me, I still feel awful. This virus has hit me harder than anyone else in the family.

I can't concentrate, so will just wish you all a pleasant day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 30-Dec-24 09:11:21

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and still. A weak sun is trying to shine. 6°C at present, 9°C later. We’re still enjoying TIB and I’ve just suggested a run out on our ownsome to a huge garden centre near Warrington for a mooch. They have a lovely restaurant too. I’ll remind Himself to bring his wallet. .. we hardly ever go as we don’t have a garden (natch) but we do have a few tubs on the decking outside our front door.

Ash sad news indeed. Kalu glad to hear titrating your meds down is working and you are feeling the benefit. Sad fact about your shopping trolley though. I admire how much you count your blessings for what you had. Not everyone gets to be so well loved.

Thoughts today with all who struggle right now with bad news, ill health or mental anxiety. Life can indeed be tough at times.
