Irrational dislikes of people you don’t know..

Perhaps I shouldn’t introduce this topic, as it could get nasty. I was thinking how I have irrational dislikes of people I see on television whom I don’t know at all. Helen Skelton, Sarah Moore (from Money for Nothing), Meghan used-to-be Markle, Luke Littler. I know nothing about any of these people, but I can’t stand them.

Of course the upside of this is that I have irrational likes as well.

Yes. He even thanked the deer for helping him achieve his ambition. His excuse when the video came to light? It was a long time ago. Yuk.

I too find Stephen Fry just too much, prefer QI with Sandi Tostvic.
Not keen on Paddy McGuiness either as his Northerness seems rather overdone.
I enjoy watching Claudia Winkleman; she doesn’t witter on and makes me laugh. I used to enjoy her radio programme too.

I can't stand Phil Spencer since I saw a video of him killing a beautiful deer for pleasure.

Ew what a disgusting person 🤮

I love Claudia. She’s the epitome of evil…..

I can't believe I forgot Claudia ",I'm so zany" Winkelman!
She is right at the top of my irrational dislike list.

Claudia Winkleman reminds me of the child-catcher in
Chitty bang bang! I also find her false & rather up her own bottom too.

It is therapeutic to voice our dislikes, and I think it’s very understandable to have them. After all, we have a lifetime of experiences of people who we knew and were unpleasant, or people unlike ourselves, or even don’t look similar to us, or well formed beliefs and prejudices against certain people. I don’t think it’s unnatural.

Oh, yes, I really like Phil Spencer.

I have a very long list ....I think I am not a very tolerant personwink

Me too, but I’ll keep it brief. I dislike Alan Carr, never liked Greg Wallace (😩), Mary Berry (😇), Michaela Strachan (screechy), Jonathan Ross, Orla Guerin, Laura Kuenssberg.
Certain voices irritate me too, like Pat Marsh on Radio Kent.
I really like Bob Mortimer (love his smile and demeanour).

Martin Roberts not Martine...sorry Martin.

I find Stephen Fry obnoxious, and can't stand Kaye [I love me] Adams.

Dislike smutty Lee Mack, Peter Kay, Allen Carr, Jimmy Carr, the whining Josh Widdecombe. Paddy McGuiness is awful as is Gino DeCampo and Russell Brand.

The female presenter on Pottery Throwdown [and her very unfunny remarks] makes me want to switch off but I like the programme so I endure.

Megan Markle and Harry make me feel very angry. And if you told me Luke Littler was 47 I'd believe you.

However I love Bob Mortimer, I like Kirsty Allsopp [reminds of someone I was very fond of] Alice Roberts and Martine Roberts.

So TIRED of Ant and Dec.

Jimmy Carr, Paddy McGuiness, Amanda Holden, Jimmy Carr, Carol Vorderman, the Welsh actress in Gavin & Stacey, Lorraine Kelly , Alex Jones, Gary Linaker………..so many more to mention especially grating & loud voices .

I'm not keen on Jools Holland.

Wellsrose - apart from his earlier indiscretions, I like Charles and William. I agree about Catherine, ‘like mother, like daughter’ as they say.

I like Kate even though I'm not a royalist, sometimes she looks sad, which is concerning.
I don't warm to Edward or Andrew.

surfingsal Sun 05-Jan-25 11:03:35

Davina McCall
Lorraine Kelly
Keir Starmer
Angela Rayner
Prince Andrew

I cannot watch or listen to any of the above

I have to agree with you Luckygirl13, this dissing session is very therapeutic!!! It's surprising now many of us are irritated & repelled by the same people. Strangely my husband thinks everyone is lovely& sweet & he hates me having a bitch at the TV!
He laps-up the repair shop! While I want to run to the hills to escape the fake sincerity & teeth-itching so called experts, particularly those 'Sewing women'! Who really thought they were 'Big Stars' on celebrity bargain hunt! What a couple of ####!!! 🤔

Claudia Winkleman with her feeble attempts at being funny and her daft shampoo ads. My husband says I don't like her because she has lovely hair and I have lost all mine. He may be right!!

MissAdventure Sun 05-Jan-25 10:46:14

Shane Ritchie.

There are few that I take a dislike to but Lee Mack is one of them - can't watch anything he is in. I am also in the minority in that I don't like Attenborough!

There is also a female presenter on local radio with the most irritating voice - she is also as thick and two planks and often has to have things explained to her - I have to switch off when she is on!

Witzend Sun 05-Jan-25 10:40:32

I’ve forgotten her name - LaVyrle or something? - the woman who presents Desert Island Discs - dh is listening in the kitchen.
She keeps dropping her Ts! Maybe it’s me, but although I expect it elsewhere, I do dislike it on such an iconic R4 programme.

Not that it’d surprise me if she’d been told to drop a few on purpose, in order to sound less ‘posh’ - given that the Beeb seems be bent on dumbing down nowadays.

MissAdventure Sun 05-Jan-25 10:38:00

Alison Hammomd.
The Scottish little woman who is over excitable and does travel programmes.
Stacey Solomon.

Septimia Sun 05-Jan-25 10:32:17

DH can't stand Claire Balding.

I never liked Timothy Spall but, having had brief contact with him, I thought him to be courteous and interested in things. Some of the actors with him were full of their own importance, othrs just kept to themselves.

I don’t know trump, Elon Musk or Mrs Baddenoch but I don’t think my dislike is irrational.

Indeed so!

I dislike David Walliams, Greg Wallace (even before), David Attenborough (pompous patronising privileged man who lectures everyone on global warming then makes his living flying round the world polluting the planet!).

Very therapeutic this hating lark grin

There seems to be a bit of a consensus on disliked "slebs" - how are they making a living?!
