Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1°C. Thankfully, we have so far avoided the snow here. I'm relieved, because it often hits us hard here. Mizuna, you would not wish for snow, if you have had the experiences we have here, when it snows.😉
Kalu, DH said it was snowing up your way, yesterday.

Nice to see you posting, Whiff and welcome mum3three.

We had a visit from Babydoll 😍 yesterday, who had made a get well card for me. A tad ironic, when she was the one who generously shared her germs.😂 Apparently, she has been asking for me for days.
They stayed for lunch, courtesy of all the unused food, which I had freeze, when DH and I couldn't face anything to eat.
Later, I had a video call with my darling Dollie, I hadn't seen her since Christmas Day. My cup runneth over.

Another day of rest for me, no Mass. I feel quite guilty, my young sacristan friend was left to deal with water ingress in the sacristy (an awful mess) and cover my duties into the bargain.
Our lovely PP has offered to visit me, with the Sacrament of the Sick, but I am thankfully on the mend. I feel human again.
He was the priest on call at the local hospital all week and was sure he would find me there again.

Enjoy your time with family, safe travels and hugs for all, who need them.

Mick, Scotch bonnets, NOOOO!

Kalu Sun 05-Jan-25 08:47:51

Good morning all. -1 deg. in Glasgow this morning🥶 Snow is predicted tomorrow and Tuesday.

I was planning a walk at some point today but with icy conditions underfoot, probably not a good idea. An at home day again. I did an hours worth of basic housework yesterday before I felt justified enough with a job well done to settle down with coffee and book feeling I had earned it. A lovely FaceTime catch up with both my girls. Wonderful technology, with the next best thing to feeling we are all sitting together. DD2 showed us her extensively bruised back. Ouch! We compared essential physio exercises until DD1 said she was feeling left out. 😄.

I must have missed the fact that The Triple Eight Six had sailed in to Glasgow Borrheid. Both DDs have it on their watch list now.
Viewing last night was Missing You series. Last two episodes to watch tonight.
Daffodils are on my shopping list. Such a cheerful sight at this time of year to remind us spring is on the way. 🌼
Happy Birthday Kitty and many happy returns of the day. 🎂

Thoughts with those having difficult times.
Stay safe those who are out and about today.

Gingster Sun 05-Jan-25 08:46:08

Enjoy the curry Mick but leave out the scotch bonnet!
Save yourself discomfort!

GrannySomerset Sun 05-Jan-25 08:45:15

No snow here even though we are close to Bristol Airport but at a lower altitude. Raining hard, though, so I don’t think I will venture out even for church. Plenty to read, phone calls to make so a quiet day in the warm. At least I am lucky enough to have the heating on without worry - I feel so much for those who can’t.

Gingster Sun 05-Jan-25 08:43:27

Good morning and it’s raining here in Essex. When I looked out at 1.30 , the snow had settled but it’s all gone now , just very wet and dreary.

Today ds1 and DIL will come round for coffee, put our decs back in the loft and sort out our printer that hasn’t been working. Lovely of them ❤️.

We’ll have Roast chicken and I’ll ask them to stay but as they are on strict diets for January, I doubt theyll accept.
DGD2 has heard from her new employers and will start her job tomorrow. I hope the roads are ok for her early start. 🙏.

Happy day for the birthday girls 🎉. Kitty and J52.
Safe journey Ash and OD.
Get well soon all who are sick, and troubled. 🙏.

I’ll be glad to get back to my usual routine GB. Starting tomorrow I hope. 🤞.

Take care out there

Good morning Mick and everyone from snowy Carlisle. We have about 2 inches, snowed out by 4am, and it is currently 1°C with a very slow thaw started.
I shan't be going out further than my wheelie bin and to put food out for the birds.
Over Christmas, when I bought various books, I said I needed a fortnight snowed in in order to get them read. I should keep my big mouth shut!
Yesterday I forswore a drive into the country for game, not trusting the minor roads, so compromised by going to Sainsbury's. Just to stock up on fresh veg and fruit in case of later bad weather keeping me in.
Today, maybe the odd chore if I feel moved, otherwise, the papers and reading those books. I also have some work to do on a photo album on the Mac.

Lovely to see you on this thread Whiff.

I hope folk are recovering well from their ailments.
Safe travels if you're on the move and have a good day everyone.

Good morning. Im in Sussex and it is wild, cold and windy here! Quite a struggle to get out of bed this morning but hearing about everyones plans has made me feel quite cosy!! Pity you cant post a photo of the curry Mick - have a great day everyone and stay safe

grandMattie Sun 05-Jan-25 08:35:21

Bon voyage, Ash. Safe journey

GrannyIvy Sun 05-Jan-25 08:32:49

Good morning from a snowy/icy Cambridgeshire. There was a good covering at 1 am when I peeked out but already thawing and milder temperatures and rain moving in this morning.

Just cooking a roast dinner and staying in the warm today. A lazy Sunday and a chat on the phone with a friend this afternoon is planned.

What are Scotch bonnets and canary puddings? I will google them in a mo 😂

Have a good Sunday, take care out there ❄️ and keep warm.

Happy birthday kitty and j52. 🎂🎈🥂

Good morning from a very rainy but snow free Suffolk. Like others.we will take the decorations off the tree and put it outside for another year.

It was sent to me in December 2021 by friends when DH was in hospital over the Christmas period. It is rooted and has doubled in length since then. It came with a set of lights which the tree has ‘outgrown’. We’ll have to get a longer set for next year.

We’ll put it in the back yard where we can see it from the kitchen window. We rarely eat bacon but,if we do,I lace the rinds on the branches and enjoy seeing the birds feast there.

Hope those feeling unwell or worried have a good day and those with very cold and snowy weather stay warm and dry.

Beechnut Sun 05-Jan-25 08:27:39

Good morning everyone from a snowy Cotswolds.

I am cosy in my bed at my daughters. Last night we went to see the Robin Hood panto in Stroud for adults only which we both enjoyed. My daughter gets very involved with the audience participation 😆. It was very chilly on coming out of the venue and we had a careful as you go trip back home.

I’ll go back now to read your news.
Have a good day and enjoy your roasts 🍖

Grandmabatty Sun 05-Jan-25 08:25:54

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 1° and frosty. The snow is due here later. I'm not a big fan of snow. Ash safe journey. Kittylester happy birthday to you.
Yesterday was another quiet day, spent recovering from the virus. I'm almost back to normal except for nausea and not fancying food. I managed a trip to Aldi for essentials in case of heavy snow today but achieved little else. I've been feeling rather glum so I'm fighting against that. I suspect I'm a creature of habit and need my routines to sustain me.
Today the family are supposed to meeting at the garden centre for breakfast as a goodbye to my aunt and uncle who head to Spain on Tuesday. Hopefully the snow won't stop us. I'll have tea and toast. I'm looking forward to seeing the boys. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Sun 05-Jan-25 08:20:05

Good morning everyone from Inverness, the snow that arrived a few days ago is still here and it’s now turned very icy 🥶
Hello and welcome Whiff 👋
We might go out later depending on the weather and how we feel or we might just stay in. All the decorations are down but they’re still on the dining room table so I’ll need to pack them away today.
A very Happy Birthday to Kitty and J52 💐🎂🥂
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

RosesandLilac Sun 05-Jan-25 08:13:46

Good morning from snowy south Glos where it appears that for a will last evening/night we were cut off because all the roads out of the village were too icy and blocked by cars that had skidded.
The son’s about 2” deep and rain is forecast so it won’t be around for long (thank goodness!). I hope it isn’t slippery when I shortly venture out with the dog!
Yesterday was very enjoyable, an all day art workshop on Zoom with my favourite art teacher. A lovely way to spend a Saturday.
Washing and ironing today, lamb for dinner with all the bits, cherry crumble to follow with ice cream.
Stay safe and warm 🌹

Annypop Sun 05-Jan-25 08:06:26

A warm welcome to Whiff.

Annypop Sun 05-Jan-25 08:05:29

Good morning from County Durham where DH tells me we have a good covering of snow and it's still falling. He's informed me the hills are almost camouflaged into the sky.
Today the Christmas trees will come down marking the end of the holiday period for us. The pine tree in the living room has served us well with barely a needle drop, however that will change once we attempt to move it.
A day to snuggle up and keep warm although I may attempt a wintry walk in the snow, with my camera at the ready.
I have a stash of old Lego to sort through, today might be the day! Some of it from my childhood and some belonging to DS ( he doesn't want it). It's taking up valuable space under a spare bed and as GC no longer play with it I need to be rid.
I spent hours building from my imagination as a child, there were no instructions to follow. It was surely the best Christmas present I ever received all those years ago, so now time to let someone else enjoy.
Wishing all a peaceful day. Stay warm and keep safe.

NannyJan53 Sun 05-Jan-25 08:02:22

Good morning from a snowy Black Country, where hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow.

13 of us gathered for a meal for Mums 95th birthday yesterday, at the pub where DGD2 works. Her girlfriend came and gave Mum a present which is very kind of her as she doesn't really know Mum.

No real plans today, hunker down and housework probably.

Welcome to this lovely thread Whiff

Happy birthday to Kitty and J52

Greyduster Sun 05-Jan-25 07:56:57

Happy Birthday, Kitty - enjoy your day!🎂🥂

Good morning from a cold wet Co Armagh
My lovely cleaning lady comes today , I have to tidy up so she can have a straight run at it !
Mick I can’t think that scotch bonnet would be the best thing for a delicate digestive system !
Have the best day folks , I hope we continue to miss the snow
🕯️💐

hollysteers Sun 05-Jan-25 07:45:56

Good morning Mick and all from a 1°C snowy northwest coast.
Last time we had snow here was 2011…

Last night, before the snow, with DSon into the city by road for cousin’s 70th surprise party. I’m not sure I’d like a big surprise party myself, but it all went well and good to see relatives not seen for ages apart from on social media. We are a large family and it’s hard to remember everyone’s wives, husbands, children etc.
Son staying over, he arrived on his motorbike, so the weather is against him. My neighbour and family are due back from trip abroad which will put an end to my cat feeding, but I’m not sure if the airport closures will affect them.

Will take the decs down and stay in.
Happy birthday KittyLester, lovely daffs Grammaretto and don’t forget your exercises!🌺

kittylester Sun 05-Jan-25 07:42:38

Good morning all from a dark, cold and wet North Leicestershire.

Thank you for the birthday wishes Kate. Having a slow start and opening cards and presents in bed.

Many happy returns to J52 too.

We are going out for lunch in the village and that is all we have planned apart from keeping warm.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 05-Jan-25 07:42:12

Morning all from a snowy West Oxfordshire. Quite a winter wonderland. Rain is forecast for later so it should clear. Maybe not in time for me to drive to church though. The main roads will be fine but I have to get out of the village first!

We took down all the decorations yesterday and the tree is in the garden waiting for the garden waste people.

I’ve decided to make stew and dumplings for dinner. Maybe some individual canary puddings too. Just what you need on a chilly day.

Have a good day and watch out for ice.

BlueSapphire Sun 05-Jan-25 07:38:10

Good morning everyone from a snowy Northampton, just a thin layer of it, but Alexa tells me it will turn to rain in about an hour.
I am unsure whether to go to rugby this afternoon or not. Will make a decision at lunchtime, but don't really fancy sitting in the cold and damp for a couple of hours. It's on tv, anyway.

Braved the cold yesterday and hopped on the bus to the shops - it wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. While on the bus I got a text from Sainsbury's to say that my Tu clothes order was ready to collect, so did that first before heading over to M&S Food for coffee and a few things that I needed.

Spent the afternoon watching rugby on tv and reading the Saturday paper.

Wrap up warm and take care if out and about today.

NanKate Sun 05-Jan-25 07:37:56

Welcome here Whiff. My grandmother used to live in the Black Country.
