Good morning Mick and All from a soggy South Bucks.

First of all Happy Birthday to KittyLester who maybe having a lie in before greeting us all. Have a good day whatever you have planned. 🥂🍫💐

May brave the drizzle for a short walk today.

Good morning from a very wet mid Essex. We had a good covering of snow in the night, and it’s still lying on the grass. The road looks slushy, but as it’s raining at the moment I’m sure any remaining snow will soon melt away.
I’m glad I got some food in from the garage freezer yesterday while it was dry, it looks as though the rain is here for most of the day.
DD2 came over yesterday and we had lunch together, good to see her and the children. DD1 may call in today.
grammaretto take things easy, I’ve been doing too much and my hip is complaining so I’m resting more again,
Safe journey to France ash.
Have the best day possible everyone, stay warm and safe.

Good morning from a snow covered Durham. A light dusting at 1.am and now deep and crisp and even! I hate it and it’s scuppered my plans for the near future. I’ll make the best of today, starting off by clearing my drive (it’s big).
Do watch those Scotch Bonnets Mick!

Stay safe. Best wishes to all. X

cornergran Sun 05-Jan-25 06:50:22

Morning Mick, morning All. A very pretty sprinkling of snow turned into rain overnight, no sign now. We’re forecast heavy rain later, milder though.

A roast to cook and onwards with photo sorting today. I’m enjoying it, lots of memories resurfacing.

Stay safe out there everyone. Have the best day you can.

Good morning from a very wet Torbay. This is unfortunate as we are packing up my car to leave for France for three weeks. However, it would be worse if it were snowing.

Yesterday we enjoyed breakfast at our favourite pub on the Downs. It is closing for two weeks to be refurbished in our absence - a happy coincidence!

Yes, grandMattie, it is disappointing that the dental care that DH has received for the past 20 years has been substandard. I had an emergency repair to a tooth from his dentist some years ago and it failed within days! Luckily, by then I was back in the UK and able to see my own dentist.

Your meal will be almost a Twelfth Night dinner mumtothree. I’m glad you are now well enough to enjoy it. Bon appetit!

How lovely to have daffodils, Grammaretto! Presumably, any pain relief you have doesn’t help you sleep? I do remember those days and recall the requirement to sleep on my back making it difficult. I do hope things soon improve at night as you seem to be doing well generally.

I hope the snow isn’t a problem for those North of here and you all stay warm and well.

🦩💐⛄️💐🦩

Good morning, we also have snow, but Alexa tells me it will turn to rain.

Bed changing day today, now that the house is sorted after taking the decorations down.
Chicken pie with mash and vegetables for lunch, then the dog will arrive for her sleepover, if the snow isn’t too bad where MissOops lives.

Hope the poorly grans feel a bit better today, take care if you are going out.

I always read this thread but my first time posting . It's been snowing here in the north west off and on all night and snowing heavily now and it's stuck . Which is unusual as I live not far from the sea and normally if it snows it melts as soon as it lands . I used to live in the black country and getting snowed in for a week at a time through the winter was normal .

Keep warm everyone and be very careful if you have to go out .

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s a white world in South Yorkshire again. It snowed steadily through the night. I know because I was awake🙄. DD and the menfolk are supposed to be coming for a meal this afternoon but knowing how, on their side of the city, they always get much more snow than we do here, I can’t see it happening. I’d rather they stayed at home safe and warm than be out on the road. Hey ho.
Grammaretto I have a jug almost identical to that one which I put daffs in. It sets them off.
Have the best day you can folks.

Mizuna Sun 05-Jan-25 06:10:41

PS I envy everyone their snow.

Bonnybanko Sun 05-Jan-25 06:09:38

Good morning all it’s blooming cold here on the east coast of Fife. Yesterday there was frost on the ground however I stayed at home, I’ll be having bacon and an egg for my breakfast with a fried tomato tea and toast .

Have a good day keep safe and help others not so fortunate

Mizuna Sun 05-Jan-25 06:09:06

Good morning from Cornwall where it's 13°, almost balmy by my standards 😊, and pouring down. A lovely long chinwag with a good friend yesterday in Wetherspoons. Refillable coffee is 99p during January.

Have started cutting out loads of denim squares to make a length of fabric which I hope will evolve into a jacket. I love the many different shades of denim.

Later on I'm going to my arty daughter-in-law's for a roast dinner and another good chinwag.

(You know your insides Mick but Scotch bonnets would play havoc with my system. Enough said. 😀)

Grammaretto Sun 05-Jan-25 06:08:17

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cold but no more snow here yet. I have my heating on high.
It's Day6 after my hip replacement. I am doing well apart from not sleeping much.
I had a few visitors yesterday bringing daffodils, chocolate and good chat!
I even made one friend a cup of tea, forgetting that I was the patient.

I must religiously do my exercises -
everyone says it's vital.

I hope everyone keeps safe in this icy weather.

Pantglas2 Sun 05-Jan-25 06:06:10

Good morning everyone from a Welsh winter ❄️ wonderland - oh it looks delightful, all pristine like a newly iced cake 🎂 and shortly I’ll ruin it by trotting to our corner shop with my size six Merrell 🥾😂

That curry sounds delish Mick (good job we’re all snowed in eh?) 😋

No snow for you Bellasnana- which is why I’ve been lured into booking a Spring break in Malta, another first visit and looking forward to it🤗

May you all stay inside or upright while it lasts…

Bellasnana Sun 05-Jan-25 05:51:12

Good morning from Malta where it is forecast to reach 18°C and drop to 11°C.

Had a lovely day with the boys yesterday. They are back to nursery tomorrow but I have so enjoyed spending time with them.

Had a long FaceTime chat with DD2 in Florida, she’s so good keeping in touch two or three times a week. I appreciate it so much.

DD1 says the anti virals have helped and she is now just very itchy and feels like bugs are crawling on her. Still has a very angry looking rash.

Meeting a friend for coffee this morning before Mass at 11.30, then my weekly chat with my Leicester friend.

Take care all of you especially if venturing out in the snow. ☀️

Good morning from s somerset, no snow here, it will be dull and wet all day

The snow/ice boots worked well yesterday, I was very cautious walking down to town, it was still almost dark at just past eight am. They seemed expensive in 2018 but now are invaluable. I needed reliable safe boots for just in case winters, like the winter of 2010 when we were stranded for 6 weeks and watched cars spin around and again in 2018, when I stepped from the house in snow and slipped hard onto my backside. They are back in the wardrobe now and will be used rarely so they should last my lifetime

I am not complaining about the dull wet and unpleasant day ahead, at least it will be relatively warm outside and I can please myself.

Have a good and safe day

grandMattie Sun 05-Jan-25 05:42:34

Good morning from a cold Bristol. It snowed gently all evening and we had about 2”, but a lot has melted with the rise in temperature. It’s still lying atm.
I hope that you peep are staying warm, safe and well; being mega-careful when going out.
Ash, glad about your DH’s tooth. Interesting that medicine is better in France but not dentistry. Despite being slow, it’s good to hear that you are improving MD. Sorry to learn about your lurching, FGT.
It was very cold when I went to church for the coffee; took down my Christmas flowers which were looking rather past it, and had some interesting chats. One person was talking about the blight on banana plants. He hadn’t realised that every single commercial banana plant is a clone.
In the afternoon, I did some knitting;I’m making my neighbour a wool that.
Today, church, then an empty. We’ll see what develops.
Keep safe. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

mum2three Sun 05-Jan-25 05:38:20

Good morning, everyone. Snowing up here in Lancashire too, though it is supposed to turn to rain later.
This is the day to take down the decorations and say goodbye to Christmas for another year.
Today I shall be having my Christmas dinner, which I wasn't able to have on Christmas Day.

Michael12 Sun 05-Jan-25 05:30:58

Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and we have snow on the ground here in brackley this morning.
Today will be spent indoors , I plan to to make a Lamb curry Caribbean style with scotch bonnets etc for later on.
Health wise Ok .
Take Care,
Mick
