Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and we have snow on the ground here in brackley this morning.
Today will be spent indoors , I plan to to make a Lamb curry Caribbean style with scotch bonnets etc for later on.
Health wise Ok .
Take Care,
Mick

I think Mick may have been meaning red peppers. Some people call them scotch bonnets. My DMiL always did.
an affectation

Happy birthday to Kitty and J52
Hope you're both having a nice day.
🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈

Wishing kitty and J52 a very happy birthday 🥂🎂🍾🎊

Enjoy your special days 😘

Marydoll

FYI

Scotch bonnet peppers are extremely hot, with a Scoville rating of 100,000–350,000 units. This makes them up to 40 times hotter than a jalapeño pepper, which has a Scoville rating of 2,500–8,000.

This is the reason I thought Mick was being very irresponsible, given his medical history.

I agree! Personally I hate chilli in anything, even the mildest versions give my dreadful indigestion and tummy upsets 🫣

Good morning everyone from a wet mild Berkshire.

I too had never heard of Scotch Bonnet, and I was starting to feel a bit sorry for Mick with all the comments about his much anticipated dinner!
I then looked them up, and could see exactly what folk on here meant!

Could you ever imagine a spicier, fattier dish? !

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 05-Jan-25 10:49:41

60 posts! This bandwagon is becoming very popular. 😁

Good morning,

Very snowy here today, though the snow seems to have stopped for now. It’s meant to turn to rain later. At the moment it’s about 5 cm deep. I shan’t be going anywhere today.

We’re going to have pheasant for our meal this evening to celebrate the end of Christmas and tomorrow I will take down the remainder of the decorations, so that’s it for another year.

Scotch bonnet sounds a bit strong Mick - I hope it won’t upset your digestive system.

Wishing happy birthday to the birthday ladies and pleased to read that the poorlies are starting to improve.

Nice to see you posting on this thread Whiff.

Welcome to all new posters.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 05-Jan-25 10:36:51

I too had to look up scotch bonnets!
“Scotch bonnets are native to West Africa, and they're hot and very very spicy. So called because their shape reminds of the Scottish tam o’shanter bonnet.”

GrannyGravy13 Sun 05-Jan-25 10:19:18

Morning g all from a grey wet Essex.

I have now gone from Norovirus, to sore throat to waking up this morning with a head cold and painful sinus, brilliant start to 2025😾

Enjoy the snow those who have it ❄️❄️

gma Sun 05-Jan-25 10:16:15

Very wet here in Norfolk this morning! None of the white stuff ! Just big puddles!
Just spoken To SIL in Melbourne and temperature was 36 C yesterday and danger of fires. She has air conditioning in house fortunately!!! Rather her than us!
Whoa mick, would think that scotch bonnet chillies would do your delicate digestion the world of good……..NOT!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with them anyway!

J52 Sun 05-Jan-25 10:05:58

Thank you all for your birthday wishes, very kind.
I don’t usually write on here, but I do read everyone’s news.
I hope your all managing to stay snug on this wintery morning.

Good morning all from a snowy Black country, we looked like snowmen when we arrived home from the club yesterday evening.
Blood pressure results normal just waiting on bloods told if I don't hear anything by a week all will be ok.
Welcome Whiff 👋
Happy birthday Kittylester 🎂🎉
Safe travels Ash
Good to hear you are feeling a tad better Marydoll
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

RosiesMaw2 Sun 05-Jan-25 09:52:01

Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey and cold and there is still some snow on the ground. I may stay in bed!
Happy to hear some poorly peeps are on the mend- or beginning to. Happy Birthday to birthday girls, I hope you are pampered by your loved ones.
Clearing away the tree, cards etc today I wonder if the absence from some of DH's elderly rellies indicates that they are a) cutting back because of the cost, b) have died and nobody told me c) are "ghosting " me or d) the cards have got lost in the post?
It's hard to know without a phone call or email - and perhaps I have been deleted from their Christmas card list.😱
BTW -Did you see my PM Ginny ? Hope you are feeling more positive.
I too had to Google canary pudding, and was relieved to find it is not a sort of caged birds star gazy pie!
Wishing you all a pleasant day- keep warm (although maybe recourse to scotch bonnets is a bit drastic, Mick)!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 05-Jan-25 09:49:42

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it looks like a Christmas card out! Children will be delighted afore it rains later. A nice playing out in it this morning then all back to school tomorrow! We are going nowhere. 😁

Many happy returns of the day to you kitty.
Safe journey Ash.
Welcome to you both Whiff and Addee. 👋

Just popped back to wish Happy Birthday to Kitty and J52 hope you have a lovely day.
Good to see you posting here Whiff
Pleased that you are feeling better MD
We won’t be having the dog today, although it’s raining heavily here, it’s still snow and fog where MissOops lives, she is having an indoors day and the dog isn’t keen on the snow.

Good luck with your curry Mick a very bold choice!

So an indoors day for us as well. Hope it stays warmer and doesn’t freeze tonight.

Good morning all. No snow on the Angus coast I'm glad to say, and none forecast - and long may that last!
I was busy most of yesterday with various jobs. It was an absolutely beautiful day with wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies from sunrise to sunset so the bed was changed and the bedding washed and hung out. Some more shopping done just in case the snow pays us a visit after all and some more tidying of the kitchen. My reward for all that was falling deeply asleep for almost an hour half way through the evening so that I was wide awake at bedtime. But never mind - had a long WhatsApp chat with DS1 at 2am! His son is home from Germany at the moment and they'd been out having 'quality time' together ........... He hadn't replied to a message I'd sent earlier so fired one off and was very surprised to get a reply!
Also just had a WhatsApp message from DD saying very little snow in Notts. She's very nervous about the weather as it's her Birthday on Tuesday and she's coming up by train to Edinburgh on Tuesday to have lunch with the girls and I. As you do! I think it's much more likely that the girls will get snowed in in their little village in the hills, so have my fingers and toes crossed that all manages to go to plan .......
Nothing major planned for today - except for preparing a meal (lamb shank) and making a pot of soup.
Hello Whiff.
Happy Birthday Kitty.
Safe travels to France Ash.
And avoid scotch bonnets Mick!
Exercise grammaretto! You're doing amazingly well.
Have a good day everyone and best wishes to all the poorlies for speedy recoveries.

Morning from a very wet S Hants, we had freezing rain last night as family left after crispy duck, both lots text me they were home safely.
Happy Birthday kitty 🥳🎂🥂 and welcome Whiff
I too envy the snow Mizuna we lived in Perth when I was a child, magical.
Christmas is coming down today, the tree has been great, it’ll go out with the garden bin.
Not much else on, apart from meat draw at 5 in our local, roast chicken later for dinner.

Good morning all from frosty South Lanarkshire.

No snow here yet, we may be lucky enough to avoid it.

I’ll go to Mass this morning but haven’t made any plans for the rest of the day other than to take down the decorations.

Hoping all those feeling below par have a better day today and that no one is badly affected by the weather.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Sun 05-Jan-25 09:08:45

Happy Birthday wishes to both kitty and J52 🎂🎂🎉🎉

Kalu Sun 05-Jan-25 09:06:27

No snow in my area Marydoll although it was certainly cold enough for snow. Good news you are feeling better today. Stop feeling guilty, your health comes first. This is your final warning. 😄

Marydoll Sun 05-Jan-25 09:01:36

Thank you so much, Georgesgran.🥰

I think I may actually have a light breakfast, not having eaten much for over a week. Lazurus rises, yet again!

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes.

Kalu Sun 05-Jan-25 08:59:13

Safe journey Ash.
Grandmabatty. Sorry to read you are feeling so unwell. I hope you begin to feel better as the day goes on.
A warm welcome to our lovely thread Whiff

Susan56 Sun 05-Jan-25 08:58:38

Good morning from Shropshire. We have snow🥶

Yesterday we took the decorations down.As our December was so hectic settling mum in the care home I had just grabbed a Christmas tree with my shopping in Asda.I didn’t have high hopes for it but it hardly lost any needles just a few when we took it outside.DH will transfer it to a bigger pot and hopefully it will do again this year.

Today is hopefully a relaxing day as we have to be up at 4.45 to go and look after DGS1 although we are waiting to hear a weather report from them.He has a PD day but both DD and SIL’s schools go back tomorrow.Same education authority🤷‍♀️

Welcome Whiff and happy birthday kitty.Safe travels Ash and olddudders.

Glad that progress is being made by all in sick bay💪🏼

Scotch bonnets Mick😳

Have the best day you can everyone🦩
