Yes they are dreary month, but we don’t pay council tax in them .

Yes my two most unfavourable months. I try to cheer myself up with the snowdrop walks in February. I long for March and the spring coming and the clocks changing. I must not wish my life away. A stone in weight to lose as well so no comfort food ….

My pet insurance just text to thank me for continuing the policy for my 4 year old fit, healthy, never made a claim lab. The money was taken (of course it’s a direct debit) - just shy of £1000. I queried it last year and was told they find 3 year old labs can be prone to things in their breed background -m like cruciate ligament surgery. My pup’s breed line scores well on the various lab issues ah well. My friend’s grey hound hurt his leg racing in the snow. If it’s his second cruciate repair, it’s £4000, they paid that amount 4 months ago. So - my huge policy cost makes sense.
Anyway sorry for rambling- it’s grey, dark sleeting into the 4” of snow here. It waited till I’d struggled to dig my drive clear. It slopes and I once skidded slowly but surely into the gate post……
I love January 🙈

Yes Jan and Feb are mean months, but all the tea in China wouldn’t make me wish Xmas on us all again. Tbh my OH suffers more than me, I just get on with it whatever the weather whereas he moans all the time.
At our age I keep telling him that life is too short to wish any time away.
But I agree it is dreary outside.

I don't want Christmas all over again but agree about the two dreariest months.
Add into that Car tax and MOT, insurance, house insurance, all due, inevitably higher energy bills, full freezer (at vast expense) but nothing to eat, half a stone (at least) up...need I go on? gringringrin
Oh and my computer died and will need to be replaced and I've got the final payment to make (the big one) on my car.

I don't mind the winter months as long as I can get out. Not possible today as too much snow, ice and fog around and with arthritic hips I'm afraid of falling.
I really wouldn't want Christmas back again till the end of this year.

I agree about the dreary days. It's the grey skies isn't it. However these are good months for birdwatching as there are no leaves on the trees. There are some good programmes on TV, libraries are free and warm, the rough seas look great and the sales are on. Do any of these cheer you up?

I love them, the cold outside the warmth in. Log fires and heaps of books, going for walks and coming home with cold hands and feet and a rosy red face.

Chiristmas is officially nearly over, the tree is down and the decorations packed into their boxes, ready to be put back into the attic tomorrow, when according to the weather forecast it should be slightly warmer than today, and thus more pleasant to have to go out into my unheated attic.

So here I am facing January and February, the two most dreary months of the year to my mind.

No, you cannot cheer me up by saying the days are getting longer, as that will not be noticable here for a long time yet, and March is just as cold and unsettled weather-wise as January and February,

So unlike most of you, every year, I wish I could have Christmas all over again when we reach January 5th, but instead there are nearly 12 months to go.
