Thank you, GrannyIvy. So sorry about your toilet problems. Water just gets everywhere! I once had a radiator that leaked and the water covered the lounge/diner, the hallway and the kitchen before I noticed! I had been watching tv with the light out and my feet up. It was only when I got up to get a drink that I noticed I had an indoor swimming pool!! At 11pm, that took some clearing up and it was 3am before I got to bed.

GrannyIvy Wed 08-Jan-25 14:23:14

Also hoping madeleine is ok 🌺

Crossstichfan sending you a big hug and wishing you all the best 💐

I arrived home to find major problems with downstairs toilet which was sitting in the hallway with DH sorting the plumber out telling him what needed to be done 🤷‍♀️ Just looks a big mess out there at mo maybe I’ll go out again and leave them to it …..

Thanks to all you lovely friends on Gransnet who are being so supportive. I am so grateful to you all. I will keep you in the loop as things progress.
Daughter no 2 came this morning bringing a bunch of Tete a tete which she knows I love. (My lovely husband always brought me daffodils on 1st March to celebrate StDavid’s day . I am Welsh on my late mum’s side and really loved those flowers). She and I had a great time choosing a great present for one of my sons-in-law who is 60 in a couple of weeks. Life goes on. Hope you all have a good day. Xx

Thank you GrannyIvy and Litterpicker.xI phoned the Alzheimer’s society this morning even though mum doesn’t have a definite diagnosis yet. They we’re very helpful and will contact me with details of a support group in this area.A big thank you to kitty and all her colleagues who run these groups.

Crossstitchfan, I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis.Wishing for a successful outcome to your treatment💐

Thinking of madeleine and hoping she is ok💐

GrandmaC47 Wed 08-Jan-25 12:38:01

Crossstitchfan such a shock for you, sending a hug x

Litterpicker Wed 08-Jan-25 12:21:56

Good day from West Sussex. The morning has gone. I used up my ration of energy yesterday going to DD’s for DGD and her Dad’s birthdays. Her party is on Saturday. His was a day off work and a wander in Brighton! We are booked to childmind in a couple of weeks so that the parents can have a spa break 🙂

Thank goodness you’ve got some help (and pills) from your GP, Marydoll.

Susan, that’s hard - hope you are getting some support for yourself.

Crossstitchfan, that’s an awful shock for you. I hope your appointment at KCH gives you some reassurance about your treatment and prognosis.

We have a (rare these days), evening out with a friend who has organised a skittles and food evening at a pub up on The Downs. 🤞 it doesn’t snow.

Oh Crossstitch my heart goes out to to you this morning. You will be in shock. A cancer diagnosis is frightening. However you will be in the very best of hands. Trust in your team. They’ve seen it all before and know how best to treat you and keep you well for as long as possible. It might even be curable. Some cancers are. Take heart dear lady. I wish you all the very best for a good outcome. x

Taichinan Wed 08-Jan-25 11:59:48

Cross-stitch so very sorry about your diagnosis, but if you're going to one of the large London hospitals that can only be good.
With regard to your great-grandchild, by the very nature of things we know that few of us will be lucky to see them through to adulthood. My glorious little man is one year old so to see him as an adult I'll have to live to 104!! So that's a line of thought not to follow. Just love every minute you have with him or her, and take joy from all the photos as I have to.
The same goes for everything, cancer diagnosis not excepted. Aren't you lucky to have a DD and SiL to take you to your appointment, for example.
Healing thoughts and positivity winging their way x

crossstitchfan 💐 I'm sending good wishes and a hug

Good morning all from a frosty Black country.
Late this morning having been to my neighbours funeral, lovely lady who will be missed by many.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later, have the best day you can and safe travels those on the move. ☀️

Hi everyone from very chilly East Kent. Being on the coast doesn’t help, as it’s always colder here.
I am feeling a bit down today. I have got the illness no-one wants and it is really scaring me. I am going to have to go to London to see about treatment, and that’s a round trip of around 160 miles. My lovely daughter and her husband will take me but I feel bad about that too. Has anyone else here been to Kings College hospital for cancer treatment.. if so, how did it go?
This isn’t how I imagined retirement to be!
On a happier note, my first great grandchild is due at Easter and I am excited about that, but a little bit of me wonders how much time I will have with him. I try to think happy thoughts but it’s difficult.
Sorry to be such a misery. I’ll try to do better next time! Much love to you all. Please take care of yourselves in this cold weather. Stay safe. X

GrannyIvy Wed 08-Jan-25 11:04:46

Susan I had similar times with my mum due to her dementia journey. Very hard but get up and walk away on those occasions So sad 🌺 Pleased you have good support

GrannyGravy13

FG2 I have gone short and dark for my nails 😘

I’ve decided to have mine snipped very short again too GG13! I like small bright ‘Smartie’ nails usually. I suppose I was just curious about how long they would grow if I left them!
🤣

Good morning all from a glorious bitterly cold day on the Angus coast. The house feels like a fridge this morning. Grandmabatty we're the same as you here - the only snow we've seen is on the distant hills, where it belongs.
DD, her girls and I had a wonderful day in Edinburgh yesterday to celebrate DD's birthday - her 21st + 30 😉 - all organised by DGD3. We all travelled by train from our different directions and arrived on time with 20 minutes between first and last arrival. DGD3, who had arrived first and was as usual dressed for a balmy summer's day, by this time was frozen (really?) so we had to spend an hour wandering through heaven John Lewis to warm her up! I could have spent a fortune! Lunch was at The Ivy and was as delicious as you would expect and it was altogether a perfect day. My train was first to leave and then DD had on hour of 'quality time' with her girls - once she'd tracked them down on their shop spree - before they too hurtled off in different directions.
On a more somber note, today is DGS1's lumber puncture to confirm his diagnosis of Hairy Cell Leukaemia. He then has to wait until 27th January for the result and treatment will commence thereafter. He is an amazing young man with such a positive attitude and a 100% faith in his consultant that I am sure all will be, as said Consultant predicts, well in the end. And in the meantime L'le Ollie will keep him smiling through.
Now I must drag myself away from my cosy spot by the radiator overlooking blue water and white hills. Have a good day everyone and so glad that all the poorlies seem to be on the mend now x

Kalu Wed 08-Jan-25 10:06:49

Good morning all. -3 with a hard frost in Glasgow this morning. No snow prediction, we have a clear blue sky and sunshine.

With icy road conditions I will have an at home day through choice with the little voice in my head telling me, you don’t want to go out on a day like this which, in a strange way doesn’t make me feel trapped indoors.

DD1 popped in for a coffee after school drop off. When she mentioned the need for a cosy scarf I offered her DH’s cashmere ones. She was delighted to have them and was a bit emotional, especially as she could smell DH’s cologne on them.
No idea what I might do today but my to do list will give me some ideas.

Stay safe those who need to go out.

Best wishes to all with thoughts of those coping with difficult times whatever they may be.

Good morning from Durham, where it’s bright but very cold.
Yesterday’s visit to my unwell friend went well, so many tests, but a lot of things ruled out. We are both relieved. Booked my car in for a service and MOT on the way home. Another thing ticked off the list.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, then I’ve an email to send and a final check of my tax return before paying it online. Another tick!

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside 1°C northwest coast.
Enjoyed the first meet up of the music club yesterday, although it was a small turnout. I’m on the desk next week and will sing, so had better start practising..

Flying DD (currently in LA) is arranging our summer family holiday abroad for five of us and it’s tricky pinning everyone down for dates etc. One thing is for sure, I must have my own bedroom!

Today to first lunchtime recital of the year, so will wrap up and venture forth, hat included.
Thoughts to Susan Grammaretto and all🌺

Jaxjacky Wed 08-Jan-25 09:13:56

Susan56 Wed 08-Jan-25 09:06:22

Grandmabatty and Marydoll, thank you.x

Marydoll Wed 08-Jan-25 08:59:32

Susan, I can empathise. 💐

Grandmabatty Wed 08-Jan-25 08:52:12

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and frosty. My part of Scotland escaped the snow completely so far. Susan ,💐 just get up and leave when your mum behaves like that. Grammaretto you are doing well. Glammagran it is the end of an era, isn't it? That's how I feel.
Yesterday more housework done and a washing too plus a trip to Aldi for stuff mainly for the boys.
Today I slept late which was a nice surprise. I intend to stay home and potter. I have various craft activities I could do. Chipolata sausages and mash for dinner later, soup for lunch. Enjoy your day all.

baubles Wed 08-Jan-25 08:43:30

Good morning, it’s -3* here in South Lanarkshire.

I too have a nail appointment this morning FGT, can’t decide what colour to go for.

This afternoon we’re going into town to meet my brother for a little while. This will be the third time in as many months I’ve seen him which is very unusual as he lives in France. On Friday evening the rugby team he supports is playing the team my son in law supports in Glasgow so they’re going together. Should be an interesting game for them.

Hope all goes well with the nurse visit Granmaretto.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

GrannySomerset Wed 08-Jan-25 08:36:16

Heavy frost but we have escaped the snow for which I am grateful. Visit from specialist to advise on solar panels on our large south facing roof and then singing this afternoon so had better face the day. Hope all the convalescents feel better and that we can all stay warm.

ginny Wed 08-Jan-25 08:33:35

Good morning from a cold and frosty N. Bucks, luckily no snow here.
My appointment was good yesterday, I was out before I should have gone in !

This afternoon, I have to divide myself in two. Craft club restarts, luckily my friend is leading the project .
Our usual WI meeting is an evening one but in January we have an afternoon tea and chat. Fortunately both are held in the same building.

Cake to ice this morning, ironing and household jobs.

Wishing all a good day, take care and keep warm.

luluaugust Wed 08-Jan-25 08:30:29

Good morning from -1 W Kent, heavy frost at present.
Going to DF for tea this morning, we will debrief each other on the Christmas and New Year goings on.
Pile of ironing looking at me unfortunately.
Lovely chat with DD1 last night, for the first time in nearly 30 years she is about to have a week alone at home as husband away and her boys have now left home, a huge change for her.
Best wishes and keep warm
