My neighbour often tells me news and details about people I dont know, although I am listening I do not retain the information as really I have no interest and am just being polite.

Do you remember conversations you have had through the week? Last week I told a friend about what had happened to my neighbour in hospital. It was quite a detailed chat and she asked me about the age and illness if the lady.
This morning I mentioned that my neighbour was home and my friend asked me all the same details that we had discussed last week. It was as if this was completely new to her.
Perhaps she wasn't really listening or just being polite last week but it makes me wonder about her state of mind.
