I never thought I would start a Meghan and Harry thread but...... had gone

It was reported today that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had gone to Los Angeles to give comfort and food to those affected by the dreadful wildfires there.

My immediate reaction was revulsion that well known celebrities, let alone this pair, should think visiting somewhere, quite some distance from where you live that is undergoing a horrendous catastrophe, which you can do nothing to alleviate, would benefit from your presence, hugging and talking to people, and, of course, being photographed doing so.

I understand that they have offered to house someone who has been burnt out. That shouldn't be too difficult, there are plenty of A listers who have been burnt out.

I am no fan of M & H, but I take this action as genuine; they are helping practically, and I believe have made a substantial donation and are collecting and distributing items of practical use.

Yes, this right here. I'm no fan of them either, yet I think it's a good thing to do, even if it's solely for PR purposes or whatnot.

Then why point it out to me , no matter

May I suggest you try to do just that ? You object to criticism of those two but criticise posters , hypocrisy is something
H&M do so well

There are 189 posts on this thread, most criticising Harry and Meghan.
There are 220 posts on a thread about the LA fires, some of those posts criticising Harry and Mrghan.

I am not hypocritical in the least. I do think a sense of proportion would be good.

😍🫶🏾❤️ exactly this

Anniebach Mon 13-Jan-25 15:03:49

Allira neither you or I are responsible for what others say /think

littlenananj Mon 13-Jan-25 14:54:29

I'm sorry, could you elaborate on what it is you're referring too please?

There is little nice to be said about some people.

Why is it difficult to understand that one can dislike what a person says and does publicly without meeting the person. ?

Came here to say the exact thing ! people would complain if they didn't. m0nica may as well just say that they dislike them smile

Who would complain if they didn’t? Nobody as they’re of no importance in America, despite their efforts to appear so. Monica may well not like them, but she’s not unique there! Far from it. 😂

But theyre are plenty of comments throughout this thread saying its for publicity ect? which I assume was the reason for creating this thread? 'despite their efforts to appear so' is proving my point exactly.. I'm sure they're just trying to help out, and are currently doing more than most! literally any opportunity to bash them confused

Anniebach Mon 13-Jan-25 13:23:51

Not possible to have more than one opinion at a time ?

Allira Mon 13-Jan-25 13:15:13

Amazing that posters seem more interested in condemning Meghan and Hsrry for helping than showing concern for those who have lost their homes, their possessions, their livelihoods and some have lost their lives.

Just astonishing!

Ilovecheese

Horrible thread.

but you like it though!

you've obviously read it.

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Jan-25 12:18:26

If that's what happened woodenspoon then everyone here whose criticised them was right in doing so.

Anniebach Mon 13-Jan-25 11:43:30

This thread has nothing to do with the British Royal Family

DillytheGardener Mon 13-Jan-25 11:40:35

I’m disinterested in both of them, but agree with others that they were damned if they did and damned if they didn’t.

I’m more appalled at the Royal Family making millions from charities and the NHS and not being transparent about it. Get rid of the royal family and ignore Meghan and Harry as just a distraction from what’s going on at home

They apparently visited twice. The first time they were ignored and not photographed. They went back complete with photographers, videographers and a security team for all of 17 minutes and had a photo op for future use with her centre front smiling. All on the US websites where there is overall disgust at her/their opportunism. She did the same at the Uvalde shooting apparently. Must get those photo ops in. All easily verified on US news sites.

How could anyone forget, Annie!

Allira Mon 13-Jan-25 10:34:01

Yes, very good point, eazybee

I am sure any ex-servicemen would do the same.
