Good Morning from Durham. Still dark, but going to be mild, according to the forecast.

Yesterday was a write off, as I suffered a bout of IBS after a coffee with friends. Gruesome.
I was surprised to get a cheaper price than last year for my car insurance - same company, so I’ll double check the policy and opt to renew.

I must make some phone calls today and I’ve DD2’s laundry to finish, all 3 loads, so not planning to go far.

Hope all goes well gM
Lovely nails bellas. Mine are just plain maroon this time.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from a chilly but not frosty West Oxfordshire.

I have ironing to do and I’ll also make some lemon iced cream. I’m meeting friends this afternoon and said I’d take a cake. The cake (lemon and blackberry) is made but I need to make some lemon frosting.

OH will look at converting an old fridge into a honey warming cupboard. It’s in the garage and he has all the parts he needs.

While he’s at his shooting club tonight I’ll catch up with a Simon Sharma (sp) programme I recorded.

Have a good day. I’m especially thinking of GM having her procedure.

Good morning all. 8deg. rising to 11deg. around lunchtime, dry and breezy today in Glasgow.

4 phone calls yesterday took 2 1/2hrs. So much of it was in a queue, holding on, especially BT and British Gas. I caught up with my knitting at least so not time wasted. Feeling productive yesterday ironing and vacuuming was also done ✔️
I gave myself a few brownie points.
When I took all decorations down I put everything in one room and closed the door. Only when I went in to vacuum the room I realised they were still there. First task today is to pack everything away and vacuum. I lost the brownie points. 😩

Thoughts with GM this morning hoping your procedure goes smoothly.
Happy birthday to your DD Ash. My DD1 was born September ‘75 during a sweltering heatwave that year.

Best wishes to all for a good day including those coping with worries and struggles.

Good morning from a warmer W Kent, now 3 degrees. I remember the 2 ft icicles hanging off the roof in those 70’s winters.
U3A meeting this afternoon
Best wishes to all

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. 6 degrees in a still dark South Yorkshire. All the snow has gone. Hurrah! It means I shall be able to walk to school this afternoon for my volunteering session. Ironing this morning.
I spent most of yesterday afternoon trying out a recipe for a chicken, tomato, chorizo and pepper casserole which had a lot of spices and smoked paprika in it. I have mixed feelings about the result but will stick it in the freezer and try it out on DS when he comes to stay this weekend! If he won’t eat it, it will go in the bin, because he will eat anything.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I switched the heating on to timed settings yesterday. It's been on constantly since I came out of hospital 2 weeks ago.

I went to U3A yesterday and even gave a short talk from a seated position. Several of us have seafaring ancestors and wanted to share their stories . It was fascinating, instructive and very sad.
The Eyemouth fishing disaster of 1881 featured twice.
My gt grandfather's ship sank off the Galloway coast in 1888.

I hope gMattie's operation goes
well.
Happy birthday to your DD Bellasnanna

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from a still chilly North Leicestershire.

Up early as DH has a gym class at 9.00. It is our first choir session of the year - last week's was cancelled because of the floods.

DH and DS1 are due to go to the football tonight but there is fog in the forecast so who knows.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire. Miserable weather.

Yesterday I finished sewing on several badges for one of my DGDs which she had asked me to do (on Friday evening grin) in time for Brownies resuming last night. We drove over to DD’s so I could pop the top through the letter box.

Charity shop stint today then a relaxing evening with my crochet.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from Spain, I’ve slept well and my sleep pattern restored after an odd couple of days
Hoping all goes well for gMattie today
We had a lovely day yesterday, just wandering along the promenade and up into the old town, more of the same today. The weather is about 15° but feels lovely when sitting in the sunshine away from the sea breeze
Lovely nails bellasnanna!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from s somerset, dull all day

Damp again, which makes me feel colder so I am abandoning the planned outdoors pottering. It was going to be slow mo hands and knees weeding on the plot, instead I will concentrate on knitting my jumper

Have a good day

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset.

Grocery delivery will encourage us to be up and about rather than sit in bed with tea and our books. Some dust removal will follow and with luck this afternoon we’ll be able to collect the car after a service and MoT. I’m always on edge until I know the car has behaved itself.

Hope all will go well, grandmattie and anyone dealing with matters medical today.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and wet. It rained all day yesterday. Ash definitely milder here than further south! I,too, am thinking of GrandMattie and wishing her well.
Yesterday was back to normal. I dropped off the boys then did a washing and made soup and generally tidied up. Both boys were tired when I picked them up. Dgs1 was quite emotional and weepy while dgs2 was grumpy. Hopefully today will be better for them.
Today I might nip to the library. I shall go to Aldi as dgs1 expressed an interest in melon and both boys love strawberries. They eat constantly at my house! Then go home and eat a large dinner. Chicken curry for dinner for me. Have a good day all.

Bellasnana: belated birthday happies to your DD1!
My DS was born a few months earlier than your DD1 and that was a time of severe snow, too! ❄️

Bellasnana Tue 14-Jan-25 06:09:53

Good morning from a rather wet Malta where the high is 11°C and the low 7°C and thundery showers are forecast.

Had my nails done yesterday, it’s always enjoyable as the young lady who does them for me is such a sweetheart.

No plans as yet for today.

Thinking of grandMattie and hoping her op goes smoothly.💐

Happy birthday to your DD Ash. It was also very snowy in Kent when I had my DD1 43 years ago yesterday. ☃️

Have a good day everyone.☀️

Ashcombe Tue 14-Jan-25 06:06:39

Best wishes to grandMattie today with the cataract operation. 💐

Ashcombe Tue 14-Jan-25 06:05:05

Good morning from a chilly Sarthe again. It’s colder in many parts of France than in Scotland, according to my weather app!

My DD2 is 46 today. When she was born (1979) in Staffs we had severe snow and petrol shortages! Delivery drivers being on strike led to other shortages in shops. Happy days!

DH and I aren’t sleeping well. I think part of the problem is the severe cold making it difficult to go walking at all.

Hope everyone is warm and as well as possible. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Bonnybanko Tue 14-Jan-25 06:02:35

Good morning from a dark and wet morning here on the east coast of Fife. Yesterday was a good day where I went to the local shops with my new carer and bought a new iPad cover my old one was falling to bits it now looks and feels fabby.

I’m lucky enough to be having a ribeye for dinner tonight with gravy, new potatoes and vegetables yummy yum yum.

Have a good day my friends enjoy small mercies, love you all 💐💐💐

RosesandLilac Tue 14-Jan-25 06:00:47

Good morning from a damp hillside in south Glos, no frost thankfully, at last it’s getting slightly warmer.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, we’ve known each other for about 50 years and it’s always lovely to see her.
I will go and get a few bits from the supermarket beforehand, it’s been a while since I’ve actually been in one because I get my groceries delivered. Our closest supermarket is 11 miles from here.
This afternoon more slow stitching or I might start a piece of crewelwork, something a little different, either way I will be stitching 😊
I hope all goes well for your cataract operation today grandMattie 🌹

Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and icy outside this morning in brackley .
To start yesterdays bus trip to Bicester did not go by without incident a crash on the Bicester Banbury road caused the bus to divert ,arriving later than normal .
Today same journey but hopefully more successful.
Health wise OK , just doing another Lamb curry in slow cooker with scotch bonnets .
Take Care,
Mick
