I have far more clothes than anyone could ever need, I am sorting through my clothes prior to a house move.

I have nothing red, purple or yellow.

Are there colours you avoid and why?

Mustard, brown, yellow, purple, teal, fuchsia, purple, burgundy, all pastels. I wear mainly black and navy.

I never wear olive green, mustard, dark brown or any sludgy colours. They all make me look ill.

Ditto! I love bright colours, usually blues, and any dark clothes are navy.

I never wear orange, mustard, lime or olive green. Most other colours it depends on the shade. I wear bluish reds but not tomato red, as it is too orange. Most yellow doesn't look right either.
When I was younger I could wear very dark or light colours, but now mid range colours are better. I definitely suit cool colours, not warm.
Blue, pink, teal, purple with grey and navy neutrals are best for me.

I never wear orange, yellow or light green colours. Colours that suit me are pinks, mauves and reds

merlotgran - my last passport photo is terrible. Taken very late at night in a hurry.
I don't care as it's not going on anyone's wall! grin
(Thank goodness)!

Burgundy and army green I always avoid!

Cabbie21 Wed 15-Jan-25 09:52:49

I never wear orange, cerise, or lime green.
No yellow, apart from a summer yellow jacket for formal occasions that picks out a splash of yellow in a couple of summer dresses.
I wear mostly blues, burgundy, purple, dark pink, turquoise and black.
I have a brown set ( trousers, two tops, casual jacket) which I am fond of but probably don’t suit me any more. Perhaps they’ll go in my next clear out?

I once had a passport photo taken wearing a pale pink shirt. I know these photos never flatter you but I looked as though I’d just been dug up!

DH took one look and just said, ‘Never wear pink again!’ 😭

I got another photo taken. 😂

Black, near my face doesn’t suit me, but fine for jeans.I don’t wear yellow or white or brown or beige or cream or lilac.
Orange suits me, as does olive green and plum colour.I once wore an orange tee with orange cargo trousers and DP said I looked like a Quick Fit fitter😂

I never wear blue. It just does nothing for me.

I wore white and yellow when I was young, but no longer. Same applies to brown, which used to suit me, but no longer does.

Orange. To me orange is a colour that looks good only on oranges. And of course satsumas, clementines, etc.

And lime, though I will allow that it can look good on people whose colouring suits it.

I never wear yellow, brown or beige as they make me feel drab. I am a pink or purple girl.

Like henetha, I don't wear green because my mum considered it unlucky - a family tragedy makes that understandable.

I don't wear yellow any more. It was fine when I was young and dark-haired but my complexion has changed with age.

Black, White, Yellow

Primrose53 Wed 15-Jan-25 09:20:17

I love colour but yellow does not suit me. I look ill. My daughter is the same. When she was born someone bought her a bright yellow babygro and she looked jaundiced. Pink or white always suited her even then.

Shinamae Wed 15-Jan-25 09:13:50

White!

M0nica Wed 15-Jan-25 09:12:48

I would never say 'never', but I avoid black. It makes me look as I am attending my own funeral.

More generally I avoid green and blue

ginny Wed 15-Jan-25 08:56:56

Never wear yellow or and very pale shades of any colour. I think I am a Summer person , bright pastels , many shades of blue and I like red.

*Parts of Scotland still have sectarian bias, so people avoid wearing green when the Orange march is going past*

That seems so weird! Sort of two centuries ago.

I once got hemmed in, driving a green car in the middle of an orange walk parade in Glasgow.
Some marchers were shouting abuse at me as they passed. It was quite scary.

I am having a clear out at the moment. I have realised that peach does not suit me at all. I love colourful clothes, but as I get older, realise that some colours no longer suit me.
When I was working, I wore a lot of black, with a splash of colour, now I look like death warmed up.

Yesterday, I treated myself to a cerise, cashmere sweater. The colour is beautiful.

whywhywhy Wed 15-Jan-25 08:11:44

Green, orange, yellow and grey.

nanna8 Wed 15-Jan-25 08:10:16

Orange and lime green. I like all the reds but not pink. I have a fair skin though I wear a tan makeup, mostly to keep the sun off (fear of melanoma after my husband was diagnosed with one of the ghastly things)

Greyduster Wed 15-Jan-25 08:05:38

At one time I would have said pink, but the last couple of years, I seem to have been drawn to it. Generally I like deeper shades of red, purple, blue.

Ziggy62 Wed 15-Jan-25 07:34:54

I hate pink, probably because my mother made me wear it so much lol
I mainly wear black and red, occasionally purple

Maya1 Wed 15-Jan-25 06:47:42

I don't wear beige, brown or white. Im not keen on pastel shades either definitely wouldn't wear peach. I like colour either block or patterns.
I wear a lot of purple. Cerise, blue and some shades of green.
