Good Morning Wednesday 15th January 2025

It was misty here first thing but lovely and sunny now in the north west. Beautiful full moon last night in a clear sky. Staying cosy inside as having a pj week never done that before but must admit enjoying the experience. Slowly healing and moving without the ouch . Very glad I brought a long handled scissor grabber months ago as can't get things off the floor yet. Made some red lentil and pumpkin soup which will keep me going for 6 lunches. Made a Quorn chicken pieces stew yesterday for my 6 dinners. Good job I always have plenty of prepped veg in the freezer to cook from frozen and well stocked store cupboard.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the sun is breaking through the watery sky.

Three hours into my four hour shift in the charity shop yesterday I was suddenly and strangely overcome with fatigue.
As it was fairly quiet and there were a couple of other volunteers in I decided to go home where I sat in an armchair for the rest of the day feeling very odd. I’ve decided that I was probably dehydrated, I don’t have a colon and my body expels salts and fluids quite quickly so I’ve ordered electrolyte tablets to help with that.

We’ve decided to take the daft dug to the beach for a bit of a run today. We’re a forty minute drive from the coast so not too far. Debating whether or not to take a flask of coffee, if we go to a cafe I may not be able to resist cake which I’m trying to avoid eating along with biscuits and chocolate.

Anyhoo, have the best day possible everyone, sending good wishes to all those feeling below par for whatever reason.

I so enjoyed getting back to singing at the music club yesterday. It was a small turnout and our other committee member turned up for the first time after a bad virus looking very drained.
I’m off to the usual lunchtime recital and there is a folk club meeting tonight when I could carry on singing, but I’m not sure I have the energy for that yet. I have various things to do in town too.

Flying DD in the south is coming back next week for a few days. I’m glad I have already changed her sheets from her Christmas trip.

Yesterdays visit to see mum went well.Such an emotional rollercoaster.Afterwards DD and I went to Costco and then Cheshire Oaks.

Today will hopefully be a quiet day at home.DH is going to start painting the paintwork in the hall, stairs and landing🤯

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s quite misty and damp. It’s my sister’s birthday who lives near Estapona. I posted her card inside her Christmas card, canny me! We have no plans. I might sort out another cupboard and 2 drawers today. Yesterday was therapeutic. Nice to close them and know what’s in there afterwards!

I actually fancy a bit of a walk today, but no rush ….
Swimming lesson for L’il Miss at 5pm. I really enjoying watching her and chatting with Teacher Mummy younger daughter. A nice hour together, round trip as she picks me up and drops me back home.

Mist now lifting and looks as if the sun may break through and definitely less cold - hurrah. Admin this morning, singing this afternoon so an undemanding day ahead. All a bit Januaryish and although I am grateful to have escaped the various vicious bugs around I do feel a bit flat. Roll on spring.

Sorting out our friends heating too, they’re away for 9 weeks and the boiler isn’t working, we both use the same boiler man.

Good morning from West Sussex. It’s grey looking out there but dry. We are going to a funeral up in Surrey and I’m hoping the forecast fog will have cleared.

I’m keeping a look-out for the boiler man who is coming to fix my neighbour’s heating, in case he needs to be let in.

I prepped the veg for a pork casserole yesterday, braising the onions, peppers, celery and leeks in a pan while the pork pieces were defrosting, and peeling the carrrots and parsnips. Later I coated the meat in flour and fried it, then added the stock, mushrooms and prepared veg and put it in the oven. When I went to check it later I realised the pan with the onions etc was still sitting on the hob!

I have bought two lots of Seville oranges for marmalade but I’m going to have to freeze them as we are off on the train to Glasgow tomorrow and not back until next Wednesday. I’m very excited about our rather last minute trip - Glasgow is my home city but I’ve only been there for the occasional day in the past couple of decades so a weekend will be a treat. We have two Celtic Connections events booked and if the weather is kind we will do some walking and exploring - I have a list 😂

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and looks damp. Low grey clouds too. GrandMattie don't overdo things.
Yesterday I didn't get round to going to the library and it's shut today, so I will have to entertain myself in other ways. My brother sent me a message to say mum was coughing and had a temperature and the hospital phoned me later to tell me she has covid for the second time. My neighbour came across to say thank you for a thank you card which dgs1 had written to her himself. She was really chuffed. We blethered for a while and she has invited me to lunch next Tuesday. They go to Lanzarote soon.
Today I will be pottering about the house. I noticed some of my bulbs in pots were beginning to poke through the soil, so I might get into the garden. I'll have the last of the chicken curry with noodles for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

I have been up coughing since 5am, I'm hardly back in circulation and someone has generously given me a cold and a bit of a chest infection. I am on prophylactic, low dose antibiotics for life, I hope that will be enough to nip it in the bud.

DD and I had a lovely morning together and we had a rare treat of a Macdonalds and a customised burger with double onions. My favourite and oh so healthy 🤣.
Despite saying, I was buying nothing, I could not stop myself buying a cashmere sweater. On our trips to Rome, I would always stock up on them, but of course that is no longer possible. 😒
Last year, despite having moth repellant,the greedy blighters feasted on my favourite one. 😡

This morning, I have to go down to church and deal with an issue regarding the former P,P's presentation, which takes place tomorrow evening. I woke up realising the present P.P had forgotten to arrange it.

Good morning from County Durham.

What a day we had yesterday due to our car problem. As expected the car was still telling us it was "unable to drive". DH rang around various places to have it removed from the drive and taken to auto electric garage. Once done he decided to warm the battery with a hairdryer just to see if that would make any difference. Hmmmmm....?
Of course it didn't.

He then checked the rear of the car for the tow rope placement in preparation for the car's removal. We now have one broken parking sensor as a result! Despair, but I decided to keep my mouth firmly shut. I have a DH who just can't leave alone until expert's arrive.

The recovery truck finally arrives.
"What's up?", asks the guy.
"I'll show you," replies DH as they both get into the car. Then, guess what, the car starts up!
DH smiling from ear to ear as of course his hairdryer repair did work after all. Hmmmm?

Recovery guy only wanted his petrol money...good man. DH trundled off to have battery checked, we don't need a new one apparently. But we do have a flashing sensor warning light on the dash which we are unable to disable. Ah well, could have been far worse, at least the car moves.

Next time we have zero temperatures we shall be out there turning that car over, lesson learned that hybrids need a little bit more care and attention.

After all that activity yesterday we'll take a trip out, in the car of course, to a garden centre for a wander and some lunch. Then organise another garage appointment for the broken sensor.

Good morning everyone from a dull grey Northampton, no frost thank goodness, much milder.

DD fetched me yesterday lunchtime to go to our friend's husband's funeral, which was absolutely packed. A lovely celebration of his life. We decided not to go to the wake afterwards, but raised a glass to him in my local pub.

A neighbour is popping in this morning for coffee and a chat; she really wants to talk to someone about her DH, who is in the very early stages of dementia, and he knows it. Also wondering whether they have managed to find themselves a new cat; they lost their very old cat before Christmas, felt lost without one, and were visiting a cat rescue place on Saturday.

A Waitrose delivery is due at lunchtime.

Over to DD's late afternoon before we go to our bi-monthly ladies wine club evening. A pleasant evening of wine, chat and delicious food.
Will stay at DD's overnight.

Dd is popping in for coffee after school run and then I’m meeting my friend to offer my arm around town. She still hasn’t recovered from her cataract op and no one seems to know why! She is still dizzy and unbalanced . Very unusual and strange. 🤔.
I’m then meeting another friend for lunch. It’s all or nothing these days.

Good Morning from Durham - another mild day with a bit of sun forecast.

My gardeners turned up unexpectedly yesterday and a row of young sycamores has been decapitated - fewer leaves I hope.

Today, I’ve a friend coming for coffee at 10, then later, pack up and drop off DD2’s laundry and have an hour with her and DGS2 while her DH is at the football match, before bringing Little Dog back with me for his usual sleepover. A slight hitch, as DD1 has asked me to fit in picking up DGS1 from school earlier, as his Daddy has ‘serious’ car trouble. It’s a good job they’re in almost neighbouring areas of Newcastle.

My old school friend is near Melton Kitty. She had her (second) wedding there too.

Take it easy gM but I’m sure you know what to do.

Good morning from a damp midlands. Shopping this morning and then back to knitting another sweater for DH. Wish I could get in the garden and tidy it up. Mental health not too bad lately.

Good morning from a dull mild Suffolk. We had a sunny morning yesterday but I think mist is forecast for the next couple of days.

No keep fit today as the village hall venue is closed for 2 weeks for redecoration. A friend whom I met there messaged yesterday suggesting coffee this morning so it is that and cake rather than exercise!

The Christmas tree decorations are still scattered over one of the spare beds. My job for this afternoon is to put them away….not too demanding but necessary. I might even sort out part of the wardrobe where I’ll put them but there again…..

Planning a walk with DH first thing then household bits and bobs, a bed to change and ironing pile to address!

Yesterdays walk across the fields didn’t happen we had to stick to footpaths as so very muddy but it was a good walk not many others about just a few dog walkers.

Tonight I am sleeping over at DD2’s house as she is doing a night shift. She will return in time to take the children to school in the morning.

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp, dark Carlisle where another cloudy day is due.

I got out for a walk yesterday after lunch, a rather weak sun had come out and it was quite pleasant down by the Pond watching all the wildfowl and the swans.

I'm thinking of popping out for a country drive and visiting the garden centre for some bits and bobs plus a visit to the food store to stock up on game before the shooting season finishes.
Then it will be back to bathroom cleaning and other boring little jobs.

It might be a tedious few days grandMattie, finding things you need/want to do but mustn't. I hope all goes well.

It sounds like it was a good funeral Madeleine, if that's the right word. I know Reeth a little, Swaledale is a lovely part of the country but what tough winters you can get.
