Have you seen Scam Interceptors on BBC? I don’t think it’s on at the moment but all past series can be seen on I Player. Shows the different scams that are around - quite chilling

It was on fairly recently, not sure if it's on still.

DH was telling me about one older man who they thought was being scammed and the scammers were persuading him to go to the bank to withdraw or transfer money. Scam Interceptors managed to locate his son who lived nearby and he went round to find his Dad still sitting at home; he said he wasn't that daft and he'd just kept the scammers chatting on the phone for an hour or so.
Good for him.

Had a call from the Halifax, a man saying he was checking customer satisfaction and could I just answer a few questions. I just ended the call.

I have had calls every day last week from people calling themselves “microsoft” regarding problems with my computer.
Earliest has been 7.40 am which startles me as I think it might be the hospital where my husband is.

All different times throughout the day and going on until about 7.30 pm. I have lost patience now and swear and rant at them now. 🤭

I wish they would really crack down on these creeps but it is hard because most are in a different country apparently. Now that they can copy everything so that it looks genuine it is quite hard. I don’t trust anyone these days. I never answer phone calls or respond unless they are on my contact list. Not a good situation.

However wise I think I am, the surprise still pulls me up, and gives me a head scratching moment.

The scams are unbelievable now.
We had the bank scams the other evening from the 'Bank Fraud Team' as apparently there have been suspicious sums being taken from our bank account etc.

Now scammers are posting about village fêtes etc, asking people to book their craft or other sales table through them at a substantial cost!
Crafters on here beware.

Oh that makes sense, the suckers list.
The only new thing here is that I've done the lottery a couple of times.

I womder if that has somehow been noted?

I had the "mum, add my new number" text the other day.
Damn liberty!!!

MissAdventure

I've had a lot of text scams lately, which I've never had before.
I always think I must have done something to have caused them.

FWIW, not that I’m suggesting that it applies to you! - I’m convinced that a neighbour was picked for a scam that ended up costing her £££££, because of her addiction to those Wordsearch ‘competitions’, where you oh-so conveniently phone in all your details at £7 or so a minute.

It’s unfortunately a fact that so-called ‘Suckers’ Lists’ are compiled from various sources, and sold on to criminals. I found this out only via research after our neighbour was a victim.
