Good Morning Saturday 18th January 2025

Good morning all. 6deg. cloudy and dry today in Glasgow.

My first thought on waking this morning was, it’s DH’s birthday and a first, unable to share the day with him.
As it’s dry today I will spend time out in the garden and sorting out what’s going where in the new shed. A visit to DD1 and her girls at some point including a cuddle with Milly, 11 mths, her yellow lab who is recovering still, six weeks on from ligament surgery. 5 mths black lab Magnus will be pushing his way in for a cuddle too. Always a busy active house at hers which I love being part of.

I seem to be in he throes of an RA flare up, probably triggered by the awful virus i had. I have slept very little and needed pain relief during the night, I have pain similar to toothache throughout my whole body.

My visit to Morrisons yesterday, was rather stressful. Although the store was quiet, there were no trolleys available and I can't carry a basket. On leaving, I went for petrol, but couldn't get the petrol cap off, because my hands were so painful. Then when I got back to the car, I couldn't lift my leg high enough to climb in. 😱 Where was DH, when I needed him?

My day will be a quiet one, well I hope so. Much as I love my family, I would love a day without visitors, to recharge my batteries. I suspect some will think I am ungrateful and will envy me, seeing so much of my family, but it is hard work covering up how unwell I am, sometimes I just want to retreat from the world. I don't want them to worry and I always get lectured about overdoing things.

My plan is to go to the Vigil Mass tonight, but am up to date with most of my jobs, so I hope to have an easy shift!

I’ve nothing much to report, we’re just taking it easy, the sea front promenade stretches for miles here and we’re staying quite central. So we’re doing lots of flat easy walking in both directions with stops along the way just to sit and watch the sea and waves rolling in. It’s just what I need this time of year

Yesterday I was a customer at the store where I usually volunteer on a Friday. I asked the manager if I had been missed. No! ☹️
Good to know I'm not indispensable 🙄

I was cooking a nice meal for myself when a friend knocked on the kitchen door to check I am OK. She sat down and shared dinner and a glass of wine with me. An instant party.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s getting light. It’s cold but dry out, looks cloudy - as usual! No milk delivery so far this morning, the milkman usually delivers at about 4.30, so I’ll need to find out what’s going on!
A quiet day yesterday, DD2 called in to change a light bulb in the kitchen (I can’t get up a ladder these days). She had some lunch here, sat on the sofa with the 2 year old and they both went to sleep for an hour!

I’ll go for a walk this morning, but otherwise nothing planned. Both DDs are busy on Saturdays so I won’t see either of them.

Good morning from a cold and dark Oxfordshire,

MzOops and I have just spent 20 minutes trying to erect the buggy type pram so that she can go out for a walk, in the dark for heavens sake! baby was getting a bit fractious as she is tired and the mum is trying to get a bit of sleep.
We had to put on a YouTube video to get it unfolded. Then, because the buggy is so wide we had to fold it up ( putting the video on again) and carry it out through the back gate, erect it in the driveway and off they went.

However, after being here all afternoon the baby did her first crawl! I was able to video it but thankfully her mum walked in and saw her. It will be fun today trying to keep an eye on her, she is only just over 8 months!
Apart from that I can see my day trying to keep out of their way, my days of 24 hr baby care are over especially with my sore toe!
I will make them drinks and they have said they will do their own cooking, they leave tomorrow sometime.

Good morning from a beautiful olf mansion on a hillside in Gloucestershire, overlooking Stroud. My room is at the very top of the house, with beautiful views down the valley.
I haven’t looked outside yet so I have no idea what to expect from the weather today.
A very easy journey here, I spent an hour or so wandering around Stroud; an ‘ alternative’ kind of place with steep streets and an eclectic number of shops.
The house is beautifully warm, the group has only 5 participants plus the tutor and we made a good start last night setting up our embroidery frames.
Looking forward to seeing what today brings!

Morning Mick, Morning All from a chilly corner of Somerset. A grey day forecast , looks like a few of them ahead.

Thoroughly enjoyed our very long day out at the fascinating Bletchley Park yesterday, the coach driver took the travelling strain while we had hot drinks brought to our seats. With empty seats behind us I was able to recline mine and travelled very comfortably. Slept for six hours, amazing. Quiet one at home today, just a brief supermarket foray at some point.

Up early (again) to watch DGS4 play football. He started life as a teeny, yellowish baby and is now a very kind big brother, bright and a brilliant footballer and he's 13 today. Love him to pieces.

Good morning from s somerset, the weather today is dull

I spent two good hours on the plot yesterday afternoon plus a good friendly chat up there. Heavy lifting and much walking and I am very glad I went

Visitors today for early lunch, I am ready and prepped to assemble their veggie meal soon. They are not staying long and I plan another spell on the plot this afternoon

I have needed to go through my next organic delivery and have cancelled a couple of tempting treats and upped the salad and stir fry ingredients. Same every year after Christmas, I tend to grab my easy hm ready meals or similar and I cannot avoid the temptations, which are too high in butter and sugar and too easily accessible if in my house

Far too easy to put the weight back on which I spent all year losing

Good morning all from a cold but dry day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve just woke up and I’ve put my heating on from my hive to 18 degrees. I’ll have a quiet day today I was out and about yesterday visiting my local community club and my sister in law who lives in a nursing home, she’s not doing so well,I’m sure she’ll get better soon.

For breakfast it’ll be bacon, a poached egg, toast and orange juice. That’ll do me until lunchtime when I’ll have a couple of slices of Pizza cooked in the airfryer. I’m lucky I’ve enough food to keep me for a week.

Due to a 2 yr bereavement my kind family sent me lovely roses yesterday. I’m going to nod off again.

I sat up late last night watching a performance of Benjamin Britten’s ‘Curlew River’ on TV. I’m not a big Britten Fan, can usually only take him in small doses, but this was amazing. Very emotional.
DS is coming down today and will help me to get all the Christmas stuff back into the loft - well, that’s the plan. He will then go to a football match and come back to eat with me before he goes back to York. It’s DD’s birthday on Tuesday so I’m going to make her a cake.

Good morning from Malta where the sun is shining and the temperature is forecast to reach 16°C. Still windy but not as bad as yesterday which saw the daily catamaran to Sicily cancelled as well as the ferries between Malta and Gozo.

Mike hope your surgery goes well. Cold and dry here in the north west. More bruising appeared overnight but others looking better. Really enjoying my pj week since me weeks stay in hospital. At least Thursday started to do my morning exercises but very gently so feeling better doing those as they are part of my morning routine. Not doing my pedalling just yet. Not until my tummy is bruise free. So just another rest and recover day.

Yesterday managed to do some of my cross stitch first time since being home which made me feel back to normal.

I had a rather odd day yesterday. I’m being careful and kind to myself this week, so expected to be alone all day.
Mid-morning, while idly looking out of the kitchen window, I saw a car driving past. I was shocked to see it was apparently driven by my (late) DH. It really shook me.
A short time later, DD came for a brief visit. We had a nice chat. SiL has resigned from his job and is leaving in a week. She wondered if I had any jobs he could do for me.
In the evening, SiL and DGD called with some fancy aubergine dish. They know aubergines are probably my favourite vegetable and they had loads. DGD had been at her youth choir rehearsal not far from here - the other side of town from them.
Today is also a little busy, with my cousin spending the night after a cello concert locally.
