A late good morning from a very foggy Glasgow.

An at home day today with no definite plan which means I can pick and choose whatever I feel in the mood for. No pressure, I will enjoy a day ‘off’.

Have the best day possible all.

I’ve not started the book club read yet glamma! I keep putting it off because I’m not sure I fancy it. And we meet a week today. Aargh! 560 pages. My friend I’m meeting today has read it but she can’t attend next week. What a pair!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 22-Jan-25 09:50:04

My earlier post disappeared 🤷‍♀️

It’s damp, grey and chilly here in S E Essex.

I am off to the gym this morning, then this afternoon before the 9yr old comes in from school I intend to batch bake little cottage pies for the freezer.

Then I shall sit down fire up my lap top (my iPad is terminal, waiting for a new one to arrive) and try to find somewhere hot to go to in March. We are not fussy if we go East or West, just want some sun and relaxation (basically a fly and flop)

We are off to Centre Parc’s with all the AC and GC again this Easter and I will need my strength having just seen all the activities which the DSs have pre-booked 🙀

Sending healing (((hugs))) to Whiff and Ooops

🙋‍♀️

Good morning Mick and all from a misty northwest coast.
Nice meet up at the music club yesterday. Another small turn out, what with bugs and the weather. Although I had practised my songs, when the time came, my throat was slightly froggy, but not I think noticeable.

In the evening, I dropped off DD at restaurant for meal with old school friends and returned home to finish “Merry Hall” (not Merry Hell😁) by Beverley Nichols. My BIL enjoys this author and I pass them on to him. DD will take it to the south with her.

We are leaving soon for a trip into the Cheshire countryside where I used to have a caravan. I miss the picturesque countryside a lot, so we will have a trundle around a few of my favourite spots and lunch. DD returns south tomorrow.

All the best Whiff and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning all! 28 posts ahead of me so once again I shall have to post first and read later. I hope all is as well as can be with everyone.
We are well and truly in the yellow warning area for the coming storm on Friday so I have cancelled my hair appointment and lunch with my niece which is a shame. But if the Tay Road Bridge is closed due to high winds the detour is over 60 miles - definitely not worth that!
DD and NewMan were also due to drive up to Scotland on Friday but have decided to travel on Thursday evening instead - the joy of 'working from home' no matter where 'home' is! They're up to do a Burn's Night with the girls on Saturday, something which is becoming a tradition for them. I shall be joining them - but only if the wind has died back a little!
I tried a new recipe yesterday - pasta with pesto, tomatoes and halloumi. Sadly, I didn't really enjoy it. And even more sadly there's enough left for today's meal 😂. Maybe it will taste better today!
It's another lovely Spring day here today and a little while ago the sun was painting some of the hills pink. The calm before the storm. But days are noticeably longer now and it was still light (ish) at 5 last night. What a joy!
Have a good day everyone and I look forward to reading all your posts later x

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s damp, 2°C at present with possible showers at 5°C.

I’m getting the bus later to meet a book club friend for coffee, a mooch about her town then lunch in a great Lebanese place.

Home, feet up then out to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson early evening. I love being with her and her mum - we sit watching and enjoy a lovely half hour catch up together. 🩷

BlueSapphire Wed 22-Jan-25 09:27:10

Good morning everyone from another dull grey day in Northampton. Although yesterday turned out to be bright and sunny, which meant we had a lovely group walk in the afternoon.

Made a complete mess of putting a screen protector on my new phone yesterday and have had to order replacements! But I am very pleased with my new phone case, which will offer some protection.

No plans for going out today; a few jobs to do indoors - clean the bathrooms, vacuum upstairs and the staircase, then get a Bolognese in the slow cooker; although I might do that first then it can cook gently all day.
Will maybe start a new book when I sit down this afternoon.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good Morning from a bright, sunny Durham.

I’m meeting my oldest friend at a local garden centre for our weekly catch up this morning.

My sister in law will arrive later, driven here by her son, who is passing on his way north, he’ll pick her up at the weekend on his way home. A good solution as her driving is shocking! She’ll want to head to the shops straight away, so I’ve booked a meal out tonight and both my DDs will join us.

Sorry to hear so many GNs are or have been quite unwell. I hope things soon imprive.

Best wishes to all. X.

Susan56 Wed 22-Jan-25 09:08:53

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry and breezy at the moment.

I have had a quiet few days as I have had a heavy cold courtesy of DD.I have rearranged a meet up with my friend until next week.

Today I will start packing ready for our trip to South Wales for my cousin’s funeral.

Whiff you have been through the mill.I hope yours and others hospital appointments go well today.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Marydoll Wed 22-Jan-25 09:05:33

Stilllearning, our railway line, which branches off from your line was closed for longer. It was worth it! New trains, more carriages and much more efficient.

Stilllearning Wed 22-Jan-25 08:59:00

Morning all from the train into Glasgow from Giffnock, I have an audiology appointment in Wishaw so had to leave DD’s rather early.
The rail line is closing on Friday for 4 months so the journey into Glasgow will be horrendous as the buses will be mobbed.
Oh well at least only once a week for me, pity the poor daily commuters.

Lunch afterwards with ex Keep Fit pals.

Hope everyone who are not feeling so good have a better day.

Grandmabatty Wed 22-Jan-25 08:51:26

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and frosty. The cars are iced up. I'm late this morning because I had a lovely sleep, which is unusual for me.
Yesterday I had lunch at a neighbour's house. She and her husband are such nice people. I'm very glad they moved into the street.
Today I have a meeting at dgs1's school with the Depute Head. I offered to help in their library and she wants to pick my brains. I was both a chartered librarian and an English teacher in the past. I also worked with her when on a secondment so she knows me. The difficulty will be in not over committing. Steak casserole for dinner. I made it yesterday in the slow cooker and it was very nice last night. I always think second day stew tastes better! Have a good day all.

Marydoll Wed 22-Jan-25 08:50:40

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1°C and showery.

Whiff, my heart attacks were silent ones, no pain, but I felt really strange. I was shocked, when I was told after the first one. Apart from the enzyme test, all the scans were clear after the first attack, until six months later, I had an invasive angiogram, where a camera went inside my heart and revealed a hidden condition. Apparently many woman in Scotland have died, before being diagnosed. Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment as yet.
Thank goodness medicine has come a long way from those early days and I was fortunate to be invited to join a research trial, otherwise I wouldn't be here!! 💔
I wish you a speedy recovery.

Yesterday turned out to be a very pleasant day out with DD. We were supposed to be meeting at Silverburn, but she came and picked me up, because I was struggling to get going.🥰
She was amazed at my prowess at picking up yellow sticker bargains in M&S. She is not a shopper, but was delighted with her bargains, which immediately went in the freezer.

On going into the clothing dept., I spied a 70%off sign. Oh deep joy! I secured a few bargains including a pair of £55 shoes marked down to £9.50.
I always struggle to try on items, but having DD there made such a difference.
We had intended to go for coffee, but I was so slow, I ended up treating DD to lunch. On arriving home, I sat down in the conservatory with a cuppa and promptly fell asleep.

When I awoke, I noticed a missed call from my sacristan friend. I called him back, because I wanted to ensure he was OK after his heart episode and admission to hospital.
The doctors have no idea what caused it, because all the tests were clear and he is a very fit man. I was so relieved that he was OK, but he was very unsettled at this unexpected turn of events.

Today, I have a much anticipated social event, a visit to the hairdresser's. My fringe is too long and annoying me! I am in the middle of a cull at the moment, Hopefully, I will find the energy to continue today on my return.
With reluctance, I have already disposed of three pairs of boots, that was painful, but so is wearing the boots! Time to leave vanity behind and be sensible.😂

Baubles, I hope your back, improves, high levels of pain are so debilitating. At the moment, I have a heat pack wrapped around my hip.🥴

Best wishes for a positive outcome for all the hospital appointments.

Have a pleasant day everyone and enjoy the Birmingham meet up.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where is is grey and wet.
I’m off for my hair cut and colour and hopefully a browse around M & S after.

Whiff hope all goes well today and your recovery continues to go well.

Have a good Wednesday everyone.

GrannySomerset Wed 22-Jan-25 08:40:10

So sorry that Whiff and Oops are so unwell and hope things improve soon. I am merely struggling with the January blues, which will pass. Singing this afternoon, always good for the spirit, but before that some domestic admin might be a good idea.

Gingster Wed 22-Jan-25 08:37:13

Good morning all and it’s damp and dreary here in Essex.

Today I’ll walk up to town, (church on the way) and meet my (cataract) friend whose eyesight is still bad. We’ll have coffee and she can have my arm for support as we shop and go to the bank.

Choir tonight - I must practice the new song. 🎶.

Take care everyone - we’re getting through the winter ! 🌱

Liberty Wed 22-Jan-25 08:29:16

Good morning from another dreary Suffolk. A glimpse from the sun( is it still about?) would be welcome.

My exercise classes restart this week as the redecoration of the village hall should be finished so I’m off to keep fit shortly.Afterwards I’m meeting a close friend for coffee and catch up which no doubt will extend into lunch.

Hope all have a little sunshine in their day.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 22-Jan-25 08:26:34

good morning from a dry and dull Oxfordshire.

I’m having some dizzy days, so everything is cancelled until I can walk in a straight line and not feel so ill.

MissOops will be here later with the dog and some rocks to paint, maybe if I can sit in the chair I will help.

Hope you feel better soon Whiff

Have a good day everyone.

Annypop Wed 22-Jan-25 08:11:52

Good morning everyone from County Durham.

Yesterday ended up being quite a lazy day so I will attempt to give myself a shake today.

It was strange collecting GD2 on her own from school (the boys were attending clubs). We made pizza together for the their tea which she enjoyed, then she wanted to paint a landscape with DH. DH has many of his paintings dotted around the house and the children think he is an amazing artist.
"Are you famous Grandad ?" enquires DG. He is very good, but I don't think they'll become part of a family fortune in the future!

Today I have books ready for a charity shop. Dresses to return too, I had ordered four, two different sizes, I think I may keep the other two. One for a party, the other for a cruise next year. All beautifully sparkly, I have never owned anything sparkly before so it's about time!

Thinking of you Whiff. Get well soon.

Wishing all a peaceful day.

baubles Wed 22-Jan-25 08:09:12

Good morning from grey South Lanarkshire.

I hope your appointment goes well whiff.

A busy shift in the charity shop yesterday, I’m being very cautious and not lifting anything but still by the evening my back was so sore. I’m hoping that was coincidence.

Yarn group in the evening, I couldn’t get comfortable in my chair so walked around the table for most of the time. We’re starting on our spring project which is quite ambitious, I’ll have to get myself into the groove and get going.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

NannyJan53 Wed 22-Jan-25 08:09:08

Good morning from a cold and dark Black Country

Mums visit to the Doctor's went well. She gave her chair exercises to do. She wasn't too impressed, so doubt she will do them. I rang PlusNet on her behalf, and had £10 off her monthly payment. They offered me a deal for my mobile £10 a month with unlimited calls and texts and 20 Gb. I pay £11 now with only 1GB. So waiting for SIM to arrive.

Looking forward to the GN Brum meet up today. Sorry you cannot make it Monk hopefully see you next time.

Wishing you all the best day possible

ginny Wed 22-Jan-25 08:08:25

Good morning everyone.
DH is just off to golf and I and I will pack a box with materials and instructions for this afternoon’s craft project. After club this afternoon I must finish DG2s birthday card.

Thoughts with those who have problems and illness and a good day wished for all.

Allsorts Wed 22-Jan-25 07:40:45

Good morning from a dark Midlands, it was lively weather here yesterday after a damp start so hoping for same today. I am meeting my granddaughter for lunch, looking firward to seeing here.
Its lovely picturing you all over the place, in particularly Grammaretto in Edinburgh, I have never got there yet, twice in the past something happened and we had to cancel
Good Luck today Whiff.
